1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Floating head or headless body?

May 30, 2014

    1. I seem to have a headless body right now. But my friend assured me that the head I'm going to get will fit with it. n.n I kind of like having the bodies more than just a head. I can move it about and see how I feel about it then.

    2. I prefer to buy full dolls. If i don't have enough money for the full doll I'll buy it later.

    3. The head definitely! with a beautiful head I would search for the body but when I have only the body, no matter how "great" it is, it frustrates me not having a face (no face, no character) so I always sell the bodies.

    4. I'd prefer having a floating head. A headless body seems a little too 'sleepy hollow' for me. I'd probably feel weird with one lying around. :XD:

    5. I'd prefer a floating head over a body. I guess that' only because they're less creepy to look at especially when it has a face-up and wig.

    6. The heads are more unique - I can always get a body later but if I see a face sculpt I have to have I try to get it if I can't afford the whole doll.

    7. I'd also have to say I'd buy the head first, but only if I couldn't buy the full doll later on (if its sold out/discontinued or LE), or if it was on sale. Though I must say I was tempted to buy an in-stock head of a sculpt that's been on my wishlist for ages, but it's neither a discontinued nor a LE sculpt :sweat. I think it's because I've been waiting so long for my first doll to arrive (and will be waiting even longer) that I just cant wait to get to feel resin and do faceups haha
But I stopped myself because I don't want to have to deal with buying a body later on when they're so expensive and I probably wont have any doll money when I go to uni sooo I'll just wait for a more appropriate time :XD:

    8. I guess for me it really depends, I couldn't really decide what I would really rather have. I suppose if I really had to pick, I'd want to have a body laying around. They are quite expensive and I would hate to just have a gorgeous head sitting there. I can always find a head that will match, and it will be easier on my wallet to find a head than a body that will have an extremely close match.

    9. I started with 'heads only' and now bought a body I wont have a head for.
From personal experience I can say that both ways arent really satisfying. ^^"
      At least for me not.
After I get my current doll completly together I will only buy complete dolls.

    10. Head, Head, Head. All my doll's characters are in the face sculpt, if you know what I mean. A body is just a body, but a head is a character.

    11. Buy head, body later. Some time a head missed is missed. It is so difficult or even impossible to get it later. But for body, wait till event or on secondhand market I can find one.

    12. Weirdly, I think it's easier for me to choose bodies than heads normally, and so far it seems like bodies dictate head choices. My first doll came to me headless from the MP after all XD

    13. Floating head, I just feel that that is where the 'character' is and you can get started with the face-up while you wait/save up for the body, bodies are quite easy to get later on anyway.

    14. right now I own a bodyless msd head...and have a sd headless body coming on the way, but on the body matter it was just because I wanted to take the oportunity to get one of the bodies from mirodoll while they had the discount. I do have a few heads that I'd love to own, so I'm not really worried about finding ti the right match, because at least one of them will have to fit. But in a 'normal' situation I'd probably be happier with a bodyless head than a headless body, for a lot of the reasons people here had already said

    15. Now I have a headless body waiting for his head which maybe sent out on the end of this month or in August. But before I can set his new head on the body...It will still take sometime because I plan to send the head after receiving directly to the artist for new face up. So...this poor guy must wait for his head at least 'till September/October :D And...if I'm luck, before the end of this year I may get a head with no body because buying body's plan will be postpone to next year.

    16. I love buying heads. When I fall in love with a sculpt it's the face that grabs me and the body tends to be secondary. Then I can take my time finding the right body to fit the character. I'm a big fan of OR-Doll and love their heads. I also prefer to get the the head I love in case it's LE or they stop making it. I think that the bodies can be easier to find as there are so many out there where as a specific sculpt might not always be as easily available.

    17. I would go head first then body because the head holds most of the dolls character and when I have a face to look at it helps be bond with the doll better.

    18. I've got a body in the mail right now... I'd rather have that first; at least I can sew clothes for him and stuff in the mean time (while I save up to buy a head...) whereas a head will just sit on my desk and taunt me.

    19. I'm looking for jointed woman of my dream, but i can't find the sculpt that would fit well. However I already know the perfect body for her, it is new Soom super gem. So, if there will be a good offer I will have a Headless Horseman. But I hope I'll find the head first.

    20. Floating head, lol. Head is main and soul of all character as for me.
Also if you not going to do group photo, you can have 1-2 bodies and far more heads.
