Floating heads - How do you treat it when it's JUST a head?

To my knowledge, no one has beaten me in the floating heads department yet.

It was originally longer (yes, longer ) but I've since sold off a few heads in the past month, with a couple more leaving soon, possibly.

I know it's a rather insane list, but the reason I have so many heads is because many of them are either
a) artist sculpts which only come as heads, that I'm still looking for body matches for
b) sold only for a certain duration and hence I bought them so I wouldn't have to pay after-market prices
c) event heads

edit: Just wanted to add, I don't like the idea of sharing bodies, so everyone will have their own body eventually. Even if I wanted them to share bodies, it probably wouldn't work anyway since most of my heads are from different companies, and are of different proportion / resin tones... I actually hate having so many floating heads, I'd much prefer it if they had bodies they were supposed to come with (like standard dolls from companies)... sadly, I tend to fall for this type, so I don't have much say in the matter it seems

 

Only 3! DZ Tintan, DZ Shoyu, & Plastic Flower Ma-u. Soon to add a couple more to the count though (ramblings about it: I'm going to buy another Plastic flower head, and then get 2 more DZ 1/4 girls, a Yume & a Bili who will then become floating heads since my Plastic Flower heads will float no more and take over those bodies).

I love floating heads. I have a 1/4 DZ body that I have all the heads for because I found that with my bigger dolls I get stuck on making them have a certain style, which is something I never really intended to do when I got dolls. But with the one littler girl and a bunch of totally different heads I don't feel restricted to a certain style. I really want to try modding some of them too.

None! Am I first? I once has a floating head, which I was planning to buy a body for in a couple of months. But I had to order it after a week of having the head - just couldn't take it looking at the head :/ Another time I had a body (bought it cheap to repair, didn't plan another doll) and I had to order the head for it as soon as I was done fixing it too It was so sad looking at it sitting headless. I guess I just don't go along with "parts". I can't stand my dolls blank waiting for new face-up either, so I usually paint them same day as the previous face-up is removed.

 

Half of my dolls started out as heads and another is coming in. In general heads eventually get their own bodies. Some have had to wait until they've been compared to another doll for a size test, like new guy Greg.

Recently I've been thinking of having several heads for one body. The origonal idea with my Orientdoll Il was to save up for a special make-up version and get a normal make-up version to swap so he could play rock star. I ended up with a blank vampire but still might get a blank human head for a disguise. I might get a sleep head for a mini, and Greg might be one of several heads to share a body because of space and he might be an occational character.

I'll make a head cabinet like Mombi in Return to Oz.

 

Right now I have three (not including Jethro, because he's homemade).

Kayne, my Elfdoll K-ss is currently waiting for his body. It is now in customs so I expect it to arrive in a few days!!

Timothy, my gomidoll Sleepy Iru has to wait a little longer, but I'm currently saving for his body.

And Leka, my Peroth will eventually get a glorydoll body.

I do not like floating heads and I wouldn't do it again. I got the opportunity to buy a gomidoll Iru head and a Peroth head. Knowing that I probably wouldn't get another chance that easily, I couldn't resist. As for Kayne, I ordered his body the same time I bought his head, but had to wait three months before it was shipped to me.

 

I only have one, it is a dozing lusis faceplate for unoa. So not even a full head.

Her body will be here with me very soon so.. It doesn't really count I guess >_> I'm only writing in here cause I'm really bored :P

 

I have no floating heads but am probably getting one soon. My imouto-chan is ordering a DOC U head, and was considering getting her a DZ body. If she goes with that idea then I'll chip in the extra money to get a whole DZ doll and take the head. I've been dying for a Mo... but don't wanna get him without his body, so I'll either get a Megi, Fenyo, or Bili depending upon what I feel like and if she goes with the idea.

If not...

I do have 1/2 a floating body though! It's one I'm sculpting and later planning to cast if I ever get that far. But I've got an upper torso and legs XD Plus really really really revoltingly horridly sculpted arms... -_-

I plan to get his body very soon as i love the character and want him to be whole as soon as possible ...although alot of fun photostories can come out of a floating head hehe...XD lol

 

Only one at the moment (unless we also count the Bobo special-makeup head that has been in storage for over a year)...

I did have exactly the right number of bodies for heads just awhile ago, but unfortunately one of the boy bodies just didn't match sufficiently well with ANYONE. After selling him and going around and around with who would have Nanuri '07 on top, I'm at the point of deciding which Ricky head (Eliud or Callas) goes on the fdoll body awaiting it. Oh and I'm so decisive. It may be awhile.

I will soon have another "floating" head in that I've bought a Rem. Red head that will share Kenshin's head. I want to be able to show him in his "Oro?" form and as the Battousai. I'm foolish that way.

Aside from that special case, floating heads make me antsy.

 

I have one beautiful DD head painted by a member who I just can't give up and keep forgetting to get a body for.

 

I have one floating head, but he'll be getting a body soon, so I'm not sure how much that counts. (I'm kind of new to this.)

I have 2 floating heads, a modded Mini Fee Lishe and a Mini Fee Soo. I'm not really bonding with them, so they maybe re-homed at some point in the future.

 

My boy is a floating head, he has been since June( I think) He will be until february (trips to Japan make people poor ><)

 

I have a floating head and will get another one soon... as soon as I'm done with my layaway I hope to put a body for my girl on layaway, because otherwise it's too difficult for me to save that amount of money without spending it. ^^;

 

I've got three floating heads... SDF Cian and Annette and a Gomidoll Igon.
My Annette (Kamui) steals my DoT boy bodies sometimes-- and I think it might be for awhile, but who knows.
The others I don't plan on getting bodies for them for awhile... though I feel bad. xD;;

would like to start a collection myself but dunno where to get

 

Now I have 2 floating heads, both are HUGO-S, and 3 floating faces, U-noa boy b-el for 3...I am getting them bodies one by one.The fastest one is coming in next month.
I am not very fond of shareing bodies, but considering my economy, maybe I have to share 2 U-NOA bodies with 4 faces...
