Floating heads - How do you treat it when it's JUST a head?

None^^I always try to get head and body together... dont wanna feel sorry when i saw a head look at me^^;

 

I've faced the fact that my incomplete floating heads are going to be incomplete for quite a while due to work but at least I have everything planned out for them (wigs, eyes etc.). What bothers me is when I have a floating head that I can't find any inspiration for. Otherwise, once in a while, I'll take out my faceup-less heads and coo at them and apologise for my lack of care ^^

 

For those of you with more then one floating heads , when you are able to purchase a body how do you decided who gets the body?

I dont know who to buy a body for , the one that has been waiting longer or one that is a better deal money wise? Ack help.

 

Well, which head [character] already has the most clothes available for him? The point of a body is to dress it, so I'd give the body to the head with the most complete concept or wardrobe.

Also, who will be used more often?

 

I would go for the most expensive one first, or the one that fits the most heads. If you save up for the cheaper one, then the more expensive, it'll seem like it takes longer to be able to afford the second. Whereas if you buy the more expensive one first, the saving time for the cheaper one will seem much shorter :P And if you get the one that fits the most heads, then they can all share 'til you get another one.

 

Often the one that's been waiting longer, but if a really good deal comes up on a body for someone else I'd snap it up quick. So I guess it really depends on what's available at the time.

I have only one head that is floating T_T but if I would have more than one...maybe I will give the body to my most favourite one! and if all the heads are my favourite one... I would be in trouble

 

All of you have fine points ! I guess I will go for the more expensive one since it wont take as long to save up for the less expensive..I think ( are BW SD bodies more expensive then Sd13 boy bodies in general??)

 

I actually have the same thing going on... but for me I feel that its important to give the one whos been waiting longer the body... hah... i just think its fair this way...

 

This is all of my opinion now, so this is all very subjective to what I've seen on the marketplace. Prices on asian markets can be more expensive as compared to the DOA Marketplace, since there is more demand and competition on asian markets like YJ.

You are talking about the Beauty White Skintone [which has a more yellowish undertone] that Volks released with certain Limiteds, right? This is in opposition to the FCS White Skintone, correct? Since the BW Skintone was only released with certain limited dolls, then I would assume that their prices would vary according to how old [yellowed] the body is and how the market reflects the need for it.

On the other hand, SD13 boy bodies are much more common and easy to get. You can get them through buying LE SD13 boys or getting an FCS. I would price the SD13 Boy Body from $500 - $550, assuming that the condition ranges from good to brand new. Since a SD13 boy body is more common now, I would only pay higher than $550 if the body has different features like FCS-Only hands or feet.

BW SD bodies would be exceptionally rare, so if there is one available then I would snatch it up. But if you dont mind getting the FCS White Skintone, then those would only be available through a FCS. Those aren't so common either unless you order a FCS yourself. The price could vary from $350-450, depending on feet, hands, jointed torso, and the market.

I would buy a White FCS SD body for abut $400-450, since they don't pop up as often and splitting a FCS order is another hassle that I don't want to do again. There's currently a White Skin FCS Split going on in the marketplace, and it's STILL looking for a buyer for the head and other parts, since she only wants the body.

 

I have a mental list of the ones I want and when they pop up in the marketplace for a good price and I can afford to buy, I scoop them up. *sigh* I have quite a few heads so it's taking a while.

 

I agree with Lami, I would go for the more expensive one first to get it out of the way.

 

I didn't know there was such a huge difference in the white skin tones. I know some are more yellowed then others which really doesnt bother me . I saw that spilt but I just got the FCS head of my dreams so I was needing a body too .

I think there's only two types: Beauty White and Full Choice White. If you have a Full Choice head, then the best fit would be a Full Choice Body in white. Volks doesn't make enough whiteskin limited dolls for people to buy.

 

What, exactly, is a floating head?
Just a head without a body?
Or is a string tied to it and hung from the ceiling? (lol)

Just a head that doesn't have a body (probably yet). I thought I'd never have one, except maybe a faceup practice head, but I have had one sitting here for over 2 months now. His body shipped today, so he won't be floating for long. I also currently have a headless body sitting around, it's head is in transit. I find it way stranger having a headless body than a bodiless head, personally.

I kind of could see collecting just heads, though, since so much of the personality is there. It might be fun to see a BJD head mobile hanging from the ceiling...

 

I currently have two... and three more are on the way D: Once you have one more just seem to come out of nowhere. I'm all for body trading though, so I doubt all of them will ever have bodies... I think my bank account would have an aneurysm if I tried.

 

I'd have to sell the whole doll; couldn't separate the head from the body. It just doesn't seem right for some reason! Hopefully, you can find this doll again.

 

I don't have any complete dolls. They're both floating heads. But sometimes I put them in my lap when I'm watching tv or something like that, because I still love them. Even the bald, blind, face-less one. Ah, I'm such a loving mother~ xD
