1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. 1. Though I love a complete doll, I always find myself buying my guys in pieces. I find buying dolls piece by piece to be extremely stressful at times (will the skin tones match? will the eyes be the right size? will the wig be alright? will the clothes fit?). But I probably will keep buying piece by piece cause not every head comes with a body.

There is a special place in my heart for complete dolls. The dears that cause me no worry. <3

    2. my favourite is getting a kit

I just love assembling the doll, painting it and its really your own style ^-^

and also you discover more about the quirks that way

    3. Since 4/5 of my dolls have been purchased on auction, and 3/4 of those purchased as heads only, I should probably say "pieces"... Only one of my dolls has his own original body, everyone else is piecemeal. I wouldn't object if I found auctions for the whole doll in the future, though, it'd probably be easier on me. =^^=;;

    4. So far I really only own 3 whole dolls. Mike, Aiden, and King did not come to me in pieces. Everyone else has. It doesn't bother me even if they don't match up perfectly.

    5. To me, I'd rather get the whole doll because it's 'safer'. That way, I won't have to worry about the resins not matching, it being out of proportion, and things like that.

    6. I've ended up with two heads, both of which finally got bodies.. but I kept putting the bodies off to buy other things; i finally just had to force myself to get the bodies, because I was starting to feel really bad for them. I didn't bond with either as heads, and I was vaguely considering selling one by the time I got his body.. So from now on, if I can help it, I'll only get whole dolls. It just makes my life a little easier.

    7. Some of my dolls were bought "whole"; a couple were heads that I then acquired bodies for. I love them all equally. Usually it's the headmold that sells me on a doll, but with some it was the whole thing - you can't exactly buy a Hound in pieces!

With Eric, I had already fallen in love with the Shiwoo mold and it was on my wishlist; when I saw his head on eBay there was an added element of wanting to "rescue" him - and I knew it would be pretty easy to get him a replacement body from Luts. So it was kind of like buying in pieces, and yet kind of like buying a complete doll as there was only about three weeks between getting his head nd his body.

    8. I kinda figure that dolls I assemble in my country are Canadian-Japanese or Canadian-Korean, and dolls that come to me already assembled are either Japanese or Korean, depending on where they came from.
(So about half of my dolls are Canadian nationality because they were essentially born here; I put them together^-^).

      Hope that makes sense.. hehe

    9. Personally I'm not patient enough to buy a doll bit by bit. If it doesn't come all at once I'll go nuts waiting until I get the next bit.

And heads with no bodies scare me. Like my Juri, who is kept in a locked box to save me from her evil, blank eyes! ;)

LOL- I guess I just love the idea of opening a box and not having to fret about finding my head a body, or vice versa!

    10. I really not have the patience to buy one piece by piece, I would have to order it all in one go anyway so the only way I see myself buying pieces was if I wanted head and body from different makers, but so far all of the dolls I want I am pretty happy with the whole doll varieties (although I am holding out for a more mature boy body from Luts (not sure if it just me but the boy body looks a little puppy fat for my taste, I want to put the Yder on a dollmore body for this reason, though I know I won't).

I also find the combos I like are a LOT cheaper to just buy as a whole doll.

    11. Whole doll here... I think I would have trouble relating to a disembodied head.

Although, I did get a sleepy Shiwoo head as an extra for Harumatsu... I guess it's not completely out of the question that I might get attached to it on its own merits. It would eventually get a bod of its own and become his brother or something in that case... But I don't expect that.

      We'll see.

    12. I'm doing it piece by piece so I can pick and choose what my doll's body will be like. And it is easier on the wallet buying stuff gradually.

    13. I want a whole one. I desperately want a whole one. I feel like my first doll should arrive so that I can take him out of the box and start to get to know him. But I fell in love with a head...and I may have to go piece-by-piece.

    14. I would rather buy a complete doll, however, if I have to I'll by one in pieces. I'm going to have to for at least one of my guys, because I need a head from one company and a body from another.

    15. In my case, I'd rather have a whole doll. I bonded with all-limbs-intact Ilú immediately, but my Juri head, which has been claimed by an equally beloved character, has gone into a drawer and I haven't even looked at it properly yet. Luckily he doesn't mind waiting to get a proper face and a body, but I'm much less inclined to do anything with him as just a head on its own... including making the effort to finish him, sadly enough. We'll get there one day, but he's likely to remain a head I have little to do with for the forseeable future.

    16. I prefer buying whole dolls (instant gratification, baybeeeee!!!), but some have been head-and-body-separately for reasons such as buying a MNF body and a Ttory head and combining them (although I did make that purchase all at the same time), or falling in love with Aubrey's faceup/mods, buying him as a head, and then buying a body for him.

Kitsuko (Sleeping Soony head, bought as part of my Soony Special purchase) was a floating head for a couple of months until I could afford to buy her CH body . . . and I have a HyperManiac Ksy body (affectionately nicknamed "Stick Head" by my husband) awaiting a customized DT Estella Head currently being worked on by Paulkaiju.

I try never to have floating heads for long, I can't really bond with them and I tend to keep them out of sight until they have a body to complete them. Just a quirk on my part, I guess :)

    17. I guess those familiar with my crew can guess that I don't mind getting dolls piecemeal. ^^; It wasn't my intention, but when that Isao head came up the first week I was here...^^;;;; And honestly, I'm pretty happy that I got my Danbi as just a head, given DIM's body issues.

But I *love* getting whole dolls. Everyone else is going to come home as a whole doll, I promise! (even though Dollmore *does* sell seperate heads....)

But, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter at all to me. If another head comes up that I love, then I'll probably buy it.

    18. I voted for complete doll, since, to me, a bodyless head is just that..a bodyless head ^^'' I have one-Vasiley's sleeping head-and though I think it's very, very cute and funny and I love to hug it, it doesn't have a personality..perhaps I could've gotten Sumiya cheaper if I bought him in pieces..but I don't know, it would be too stressful to me, Scarfaces bodies don't turn up too often, and neither do the heads..I don't mind saving a little longer if it means getting Sumiya home in one piece..

    19. I definetly prefer the complete doll. It's less complicated, and you don't have to worry about the pieces fitting, skin tone matching, and scale when you assemble them. That said, I do have a DD1 that needs a new head. I don't use the stock eyeless head, and I don't care for the open-eye head she has right now. I'm looking into getting an Obitsu head or an RML head. It's a pain to not have her finished yet, and not know what to do with the two spare heads I don't want anymore.

    20. Complete doll is just easier..no worrying about when the body/head will arrive. However, since I do want a few limited heads eventually I probably will have to buy them separately and deal with the waiting and angst and whatnot :<
