Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. 1. I have a bunch, and yes, I feel bad. I hate changing heads...so I am working on saving for bodies.

    2. The Floating Heads over here come in two "flavors"... The ones that I consider regular members of the cast, whom I've always known would eventually get bodies of their own, and the inactive ones that I only keep for the sake of my collection's completeness and will never do anything else with.

      Within the last few months, I've actually bought bodies for all of my "active but Floating" heads... Once the final one arrives tomorrow or Tuesday, everyone that I wanted to have a body will have one. It'll be the first time since I started this hobby that I don't have anyone waiting or sharing.

      It's nice to finally get to that point. Sparrow's been a Floater for about three years, so it's been a long time coming. ^_^

      The "only collectibles" heads are packed away in a trunk, and will probably stay there. There are about half a dozen of them... my Sphaler's head, both Sleeping and Open-eyed LittleFee Shiwoo face-plates, scar-faced MNF Shiwoo and Breakaways, a Karsh sleeping head and my Bygg's Romantic head... along with a modified "dreaming" Harang I use for face-up practice and a Vampire LuWen I'll probably eventually send off to a new home.

      Most of my former Floaters came in either as alternate heads with full- or Special-set dolls, as freebie Event heads or as intentional purchases made to fill in a specific role or gap in my collection. Most of them were only Floaters for a few months, but a couple were that way long-term... As I mentioned, Sparrow (my Nanuri '06) was without a body for a few years. He started out with one, but lost it along the way to another floater I wanted whole more than him... Daisy (my DHSoo) also went several years without one. I bought her originally to be a practice head, but ended up liking her too much for that. Unfortunately, by the time I decided to make her a full doll, CP had swapped to a new resin formula. It took forever to find a Standard girl body (rather than a Mature one-) the right vintage to match her. o_O

    3. Do you have a floating head? Let's give them some love.
      I have three, a Juri 07B/Elf Moon head, Migidoll Miho head, and a Minimee head

      What's their story... how did you come to acquire them?
      The Juri head I bought from the MP, and then promptly sent away to have his eyes opened. The Miho head I'd been lusting after for a great long while. Had some spare cash in time for one of Migidoll's ordering periods. Total impulse buy, but I love him to bits. The Minimee head was also a bit of an impulse buy; someone had started up a Morena Baccarin minimee head thread, and I jumped on it. I'd just finished Firefly, and she was perfect for a doll incarnation of one of my oldest characters.

      Sure they aren't 'real'...but do you ever feel bad that they aren't 'complete' anyway?
      Yes, and no. Eventually, I would like to get bodies for them, but it isn't a big priority.

      Do you plan to get them their own body one of these days?
      Eventually, probably long after Iplehouse has worked its way out of my system. Even then, I may get a body that Miho and Juri share.

    4. i'm waiting for AoD body for one of the head...i love so many AE sculpt but purchasing only heads is kinda (@.@)...same as @kawaiicoyote, it scares me somehow...i think, i would like to see a doll in full aka with body...to see floating heads also makes me see them not a full doll...without character...at least, when i purchasea head, i'll make sure, i won't let it without body too long (^.^)'''
      but still, i'm bookmarking this thread for my future reference...

    5. I like to pick my head first then the body that best fits what and who i want them to be.

    6. I have a floating head, and while I haven't really "bonded" with her, her character continues to evolve. Perhaps because of her long wait for a body, she's become a very wistful and introverted sort of character, as opposed to the stuck-up snob I had envisioned when I bought her. I just ordered a pair of eyes for her... so she'll be a little more complete. I don't really have trouble with owning a floating head, except that she can't really participate in photoshoots with my msd yet. I'm thinking of doing a long series of photos about waiting for a body, though. c: Just to practice photographing and stuff.

    7. I don't really like having floating heads...I have one I got in a trade and I had to buy a body for it right away (even though I have to wait weeks and weeks for it to arrive, at least I know it is coming) but when it comes to selling a doll, I'd prefer to sell the whole thing. Dolls tend to be an entity of sorts for me, so if one part is going, it is best for the whole thing to go.

    8. I don't really like having floating heads--it feels as if the character isn't complete until they have a body, hair, and appropriate clothes. So I usually keep my floating heads tucked away until I can get them a body and it's only then that they come out and join the rest of my crew. I've hybrided a couple of dolls, but I'm horrible about putting getting the heads bodies higher on my priority list. >.< I'm hoping to change that soon, though, since the floating heads are piling up and it bothers me. I want them complete. XD;

    9. Pshhh. Almost all of my guys are gonna end up bodiless. I'm selling off their bodies because I need the money for a plane ticket to Taiwan. Have to get $1,300 by this Sunday or I'm stuck being away from my boyfriend for two whole months (May-July) :( and his mom REALLY wants to meet me. Ugh. Shouldn't have bought Bygg and Beyla when they came out -.-'

    10. I have one floating head I bought as a face-up practice head, its a luts wintery head, '08 I believe. And I call it Dan, and he sits on my shelf, or on my tiny little work table, usually in some state of half-done face-upness. I will NEVER get him a body, he was never meant to have a body. I bought him off the MP as a face-up practice head, and he's got a bit of personality now, but he's just as fun to fiddle around with as my two full MSD's.

      He's Dan-The-Head. XD

    11. Though I have two floating heads right now, I prefer complete dolls. Remo's and Luther's characters still evolve, but as of now I don't really do anything with their heads. First thing I'm going to do is buy them bodies.

    12. I headhunt too... I've recently bought three heads, and so far have gotten a body for one of them! Still have two floating heads, but I bond with them by doing faceups, searching for eyes, and putting a wig on it. Once its got hair, its more "doll" then floating head to me. The thing that attracts me to a doll the most is the facial sculpt, so it works out!

    13. When I first started out I have never thought of getting only the heads, coz I kinda feel sorry for the dolls if they didnt have a body. It was like they're not "complete", and I feel bad for that. But that changed with Leeke World newly released Patrick. When I saw him, I just HAD to have him (he is soooo my type!) lol, but their body seem kinda unsuitable for a mature face like him. After some thinking, I decided to just get the head first and get a better body for him later. I am not sure how I'll react when I actually received his head but I am already thinking of some activities to bond with him first. ^^

    14. I have 3 floating heads at the moment, only 2 will get a body sometime in the 'near future', the third is more of a practice head. I didn't want him to represent one of my characters to begin with (event head; couldn't care less) but he just so happened to more or less develop his own character while I worked on modding his facial features more to my liking. So I'd like to have him on a body eventually.

      I wouldn't say I bonded with him though, neither did I bond with my other two heads. But I don't see why there should be any need to. I just got them because I had the chance and I would have bought them anyways sooner or later. As long as I can not get them bodies of their own, they're just there, nothing else. And that's ok. I keep them away from sunlight etc. at all times and I barely see them. I have my full dolls for playing and taking pics.

    15. My last (and hopefully final) floating head stays out of sight in the doll drawer. I used to keep him and my other floater out on the doll shelf but when the body came in for my other head and the resin didn't match at ALL despite my having previously checked it with someone else who owned the same body, I feared they were getting too much sunlight and so now he stays tucked away until I have the time to focus on his body in hopes that it will match better. To be honest I spend very little time with my dolls as a whole-they sit on their shelf above my desk, looking pretty and making me smile when I glance up at them. So my poor floating head gets a minute amount of attention as I rarely think to open the drawer just to look at him unless I am really feeling the urge to appreciate his beauty for one reason or another. He is on of my most beautiful dolls and I do not feel like it is because I am not bonded to him or anything of the sort, I am just not the type to really play in the first place.

    16. Personally it really depends on how the head looks and what it's purpose is. I have two floaties at the moment, one with faceup, wig and all, just waiting for a new body. And I have one that I don't use, faceupless, eyeless, everything. She sortof just lies in the dollie cubboard, while the 'dressed' one sits with her sisters.

    17. I don't like owning just heads, but I often end up taht way anyway. I used to have Rafael's head around just like any doll, but then it felt awkward and I just keep him in his box now, till he gets a body. I feel bad for him but not only it's strange to have just head everywhere with you, but it's not very practical. They roll a lotXD

    18. ... These threads make me feel like I'm doing this backwards ^.^;
      I currently have two headless bodies. Well, one sitting around my room in an Aurora Dress, the other is in the mail soon.
      But the reason I opted for headless bodies is (FaTE! *cough*) Because I had the whole dolls planned out: Two Christian Kane minimee heads, one slightley sanded. The untouched one goes on a Soom Supergem body, while the other goes on a likemey boy body. So when I went to double check how much the likemey was gonna run me and I found that they weren't for sale anymore, I freaked. I was lucky enough to find one in the marketplace and bring him home... Then right when just enough money came in, a supergem body popped up on the marketplace, so I wouldn't have to worry about doing a split from a company that I heard takes FOREVER to ship... so yeah, it just kinda worked out that way. Which is good, since now that I have the bodies I KNOW I wanted, I also know that I'm going to have to order the heads in a custom size ^.^;
      And that is the overlong story of my headless boys.
      Oddly though, both of my friends/next door neighbors have a floating head each. Go fig. One thing I did insist on though, was that all bodies at least have clothes (not necessarily on them, but existent), and that all floating heads in/around my house have eyes. I don't like eyeless heads thank you very much, so I've leant out sets from my rather creepy Jar O'Eyes to cover this problem.

    19. I often buy just a head first, when it's avaliable, and save slowly for the body. With my ryu, I immediately connected with his head and bonded, even though he had no faceup or body. (Although, just yesterday his body came in the mail yaaaay!!!)

      And I just bought a OE beyla head of the marketplace. I'm sure it'll be a while until I buy her body, but it'll be fine. I'll put her on my ryu's old head stand, which is actually a turkey baster taped to a box. It works.

    20. I bought a lovely head, unfortunately it is in a box and is unlikely to come out.
      I will not do it again as trying to match up a body the same age, colour etc is too much for me!!
