Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. 1. I have one floating head. It's Enki, my vampy woosoo. I'm not too too stressed about buying a body for him right now. It can wait. In the meantime, he can share with my other ns woosoo Haku.

      I didn't like having bodiless heads in my house before, but I've gotten over it little by little.

      It's possible that by Sunday, I'll be in route to having another bodiless head floating about - if I do, I'll be the happiest Head owner - in the world. Because God only knows this boy would be the very last of my collection.

      He's the one I've been waiting for ~ the last of my dream dolls. :)

    2. I sometimes loose my floating head. XD I get heads because it's easier for me to pay that way. I get one $100 head here, and then later on down the line when I have the money, I get a body. That way, I can start a doll without going crazy and spending the money I need for bills.

    3. I had a floating head for about a month, but I planned on getting a body right away, and I pretty much did. I suppose I have a floating Sleeping Soo head here now, but that was sent to me from a friend so I'd have something to practice faceups on, so she doesn't really have a character or anything.

      Would I buy another floating head? I suppose it depends... most of the dolls I want can be purchased whole, and are cheaper that way in the long run.
      Now unless I could get said head at a really good price, then I'd probably jump on it :)

    4. i try to avoid "head" auctions because i can just imagine that with my tendency toward starting many projects and taking FOREVER to get them finished, those bodiless heads will remain that way for a long, long time. and that just doesn't seem very fair. hehe.

    5. I'm not sure where this would go but I decided to put it here rather than "Incoming Dolls" since I've always considered the "doll" to be the head. If the head is here, my doll is here it's just waiting for the body. *L* If I'm wrong then I'm sorry. Also I looked for a thread like this but couldn't find one, so if there is one of those I'm sorry too. NOW that that's over with...

      When you have just the head of your doll do you already consider it part of your BJD family? Or do you have to have the doll's body in order for them to be a complete member? Would it depend on the doll?

      I only have Leo's head but I really do consider him part of the family already. When I talk about him, unless I specify that he's just a head most people would assume I have the whole doll.

      And yeah... is there an award for strangest thread titles because this may not win but I think it'd be in the top 20.

    6. Good question...for me...I don't consider 'just a head' as part of the family. Not until there is a whole doll with personality. Then it's fun for me to see how and with whom he or she will be a good campanion or friend for. I also need to give all my dolls a name and I can't do that when it's not a whole doll.

    7. I don't usually consider it part of the family. I keep my SaFi head in a box and almost never talk about it. Once she gets her body though, she'll be part of the family.

    8. Boe had his whole personality/story even when he was just a head XD There was no 'family' to speak of at that point, but if there had been, Boe still would have played his role... he'd just be bodiless ^^;

      I don't think I'd get another head by itself unless it was a limited or something that I couldn't just as easily buy (with a little more saving) the whole doll. So I don't think it'll be much of an issue in this doll family :3

    9. For me it's a little of both. They don't ever get their full "personalities" as just heads, but I do still call them by their names and tell people about them. But ugh, after two floating heads (and a third on the way, wtf) I too wouldn't get a detached head again. Saving for the body is harder for me than saving for a whole doll.

    10. I think it would depend on the doll; if Adrienne (my first) had been just a head for a while, I don't think she would have been anyone until she was whole. But Al spent a week or so as just a head between bodies (accidentally shipped as a girl the first time ^^;; ) and he was still Al, albeit a disgruntled and immobile Al. If Ame had to arrive as just a head, she'd be herself because she's a character of 5 years and is an independent and active personality before she has even a head physically. Man would she ever be pissed about it, though XD

    11. Celebare - I never want to have just a head again! The only reason Leo is just a head is because the Elf Yder came with two and I couldn't bare to part with the regular Elf head. Suddenly he just became his own person. Hopefully this won't happen again though, I'm too impatient to get his body.

      rosario - It's sort of like that with me with the personality I mean. Leo has his personality but it's very gruff right now. I'm hoping once he gets his body he'll lose the chip on his non existant shoulder and open up a bit more.

    12. Oh yes. Definitely.

      Sannru has been sitting here on her blue water bottle for a month now, waiting for Luts to ship her bod... but she's been a part of the Turtle House crew from the minute I unpacked her from the box. 'Same thing with Nightengale when he was here, bod-less, and sitting on that same bottle.

      To me, the head is what makes them who they are. A bod is just a generic thing that could belong to anyone or noone. It's the face that gives them most of their personality and individuality, so as long as the head is here the doll and their character are here.

      It'll be interesting to see what happens when I have a "practice head" hanging around just for painting... Will it stay a practice head? Or will it end up developing a personality and becoming "somebody" like Sannru and Nightengale?

      It'll be amusing to find out. :D

    13. Had to open this with a title like that!

      I only have one separate head (I don't count the extra heads that I have for one doll as anything but different "moods" of her) and I'm having a hard time determining who the head is going to be. I can't even decide on a style of faceup. So she isn't part of the family yet.

    14. I don't ... I keep my Vampire Lishe head in a box so that her little ears will be safe until she gets a body. Also she doesn't have a name because she doesn't have a face-up yet and I just don't know what she's like.

    15. No, like others have said I also keep a detached head in its box to keep it safe until I can either send it for a face up or get a body to complete it. I don't really have a problem with just having the head for a while, except that it's annoying to not be able to put it in a sig :|

    16. Fei is most definitely a part of the family. He may be just a floating head most of the time, but he takes every opportunity he can get to snatch an unsuspecting body. (Usually Kin's or Jian Mei's)

      I can't even imagine leaving him in a box or putting him away until I got a body for him. He has far too personality for that, even being bodiless. :)

    17. I'm noticing a lot of people saying that until they have a faceup the doll is just a head and I may agree there I don't know. When I got Leo's head the faceup was already done and his personality had been showing through since the faceup was started. Apparently he was being his diva self throughout the process. XD

      I've never seen any of my dolls without their faceups other than one picture of Donovan while his eyes were being opened.

    18. I consider my floating heads part of the family. They don't have faceups or bodies, but I know their personality, who they are, what they like etc. I don't take pictures of them yet, but they aren't just a lump of resin.

    19. So far for me once I get a head the character it's destined for latches on and moves into the family. I thought when I got my Soo Ri (Fall) that the Ver 1 Soo Ri head I got free would be a practice head but David latched on and it's now so totally his that I have a whole series of stories based off of his being a head with no body. Rikio (mod Chiwoo) was also just a head for quite a while. He showed his personality almost immediately as well. I'm getting another floating head for Kai (another character) and I expect that once I get him his eyes he'll move right in, too. Even though he's supposed to be on a round the world trip for a year (Until I can afford a body).:|

      So for me, yes, absolutely, the floating heads are family, almost immediately on the spot.

    20. I have a floating head, He sometimes borrow's Ryo's body, (mostly for fittings.)

      He hasn't "said" anything to me yet, maybe he's waiting for his own body before he showes us his personality. ^_^;;
      Plus he's currently wigless, and his charater is very vain of his hair, so that might be the real problem. :sweat :sweat
