1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I think this is more of a personal thing, but I am actually very creeped out by just a head, especially if it has eyes and hair [i'm slightly less creeped out if its completely blank] so being part of the family is never an option for me. Locked in a box until the body gets here [headless bodys creep me out too, so at least i'm consistant?] and attached as soon as the two peices can; then I can consider them part of the family; until them, I myself an unfortunately too creeped out to even consider it.

    2. I have heads... and I do think of them as separate individuals--but not always part of the family. I think of them as potential members of the family. When they get painted and put on a body for the first time, then they'll be official.

They can share bodies, luckily. I'm not sure if I'll want separate bodies for all of them, yet. But I don't feel like they're quite whole until they do have it all, which is a bit of a problem!

    3. i've never bought just a head yet, though i have thought about how i'd consider one were i to buy one. it holds me off from buying heads though, because i know it would probably take me a long time to get them a body, and i'd hate to not think of the head as part of the family for so long if that ended up being my reaction.

    4. I think it depends on the doll. My floating head has no personality, though if I were to buy a head with a faceup I'd have someone specific in mind for that head and the personality would shine through. My floating head though, was bought for face up practice and has never once "spoken" to me.

    5. Miho is definately part of the family.

At the moment, she is just a Unoa faceplate that shares a Unoa body with Nadia. But she has her own personality, character, even taste in clothing. So yeah, Miho is definately real.

    6. Depends on the doll and whether or not you actually want to get it a body. :)

    7. I have a head that I'm making myself, and his body isn't done yet and he doesn't have eyes... but I'm very fond of him! His head and disembodied pile of limbs sit with the other guys, and I prop him up on a soda can with an oversized wig so he doesn't feel uh, bodily challenged.

    8. I have some "heads-on-a-stick", whose bodies have been sold or traded out from under them. Since they had bodies at one time and now they don't, they've pretty much retained their names and personalities.... it didn't drip out their necks when I beheaded them. *_*

they are now stuck down on the stick part of doll stands and are up on a shelf overlooking the rest of the doll room, so that's why "heads-on-sticks".

But I've never had the head first, without the body, so I'm not sure how I would have bonded with them like that.

I, too, had to read this thread after that eye-catching subject line.

    9. They are indeed a part of the family and like to be present for box openings. XD;

    10. Yep...cause all of mine save for two are CP and easy to switch. Orin (Elf Yder Vamp) doesn't have much of a personally right now, do to needing some work done, and Kiyoshi (AR Jade) needs a faceup. But yep, can switch out and boom, the personality shows more.

    11. Mitsuki is "just a head", with a Luts cloth body, and she is definitely part of the family. she was part of the family when she was just a floating head, although it was a trifle awkward for everybody and creepy for me; i knew her before she even arrived.

    12. Gatsby was bodiless for the longest time... but I'd always make sure he felt like part of the family. I'd put his head next to Esmé, or if I was spending time with her I'd bring him over, too. As some of you might also recall, I'd bring the poor little bodiless boy to meetups and show off my little hamster! His head was so much a part of my doll family that it was weird to have him on a body! XD

    13. Oh yes- Goblin (my Juri head) is certainly part of the family... or at least, a family pet.... O.o

    14. I really don't (I have two heads in a box right now) anymore than what I thought of them before I got them, that they are Octavia's sisters, they may be triplets, and one of them is very rebellious. In a kind of a stoned mean way. I think that's the Argeia head. The other Aletheia is sweet but more extroverted than Octavia. That's funny. I said no, but as you can see I meant yes. What a maroon.

    15. I may have a floating head soon. ^^;; Maybe. I'm not exactly sure yet, though.. but if I do, he already has a personality forming in my mind. He doesn't fit in with either of the two stories I have that I'm turning the characters into dolls, however.

    16. If the head is unpainted I don't consider it part of the family, but if it is I do!

    17. I've recently sold Ari's body to pay for his new one, which I'm waiting for the confirmation so I can pay it off O_O

Anyway...ever since I've sent his body away...it's like...he's not really there. I usually talk to him, and hold him and such...but now he's just...a head. A pretty head, but just a head. I dunno...but I think to be considered part of the family, a doll needs to be whole....without a body or a head, it's just...half a spirit so to speak. =\

    18. 50/50 depending on the head.

Lex is currently bodiless, but since he's a pre-exsisting character I consider him a part of the family. He shares bodies with Grey (makes sense since Grey took Lex's SD13 body) as needed until his own arrives.

I also have two practice heads which I do not consider a part of the family. They aren't related to the story and they will never own their own bodies.

I keep all of them in my signature, I just don't give them a check mark in their box until they're put together.

    19. id almost agree with the "untill they have a face up their personality isnt set" but i change tobias' face all the time and hes always tobias. so maybe the faceup doesnt matter so much as my own connection to the doll.
my floating head is definately his own doll. i even let them take turns with the body till kai gets his own. but body or no body hes always malakai

    20. Reika's just a head right now. No face-up, no headcap, no way to keep his eyes in or his wig on, but he's every bit the Reika he's supposed to be. With his full personality and everything. He sits in box so I can keep him safe, but I have the habit of carrying it around with me, even when I go out. And when Apeth is around, he's out and getting carried by him. So yeah, definitely part of the family.
