Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. 1. I was stuck in the same position, the best thing is face ups :) Other than that hehe.. umm.. save monies for a body hehe

    2. Make him a cute, floppy cloth body to sit on? (I've done that for all of my Floating Heads. They're pretty easy to make out of a spare bit of cloth in some neutral color and a few handfulls of fiber-fluff. You can even add an electrical or florist's wire armature for posing... If you're careful about the size you can dress them just like regular bods, too.)

      ETA: Here's my Yue on his dressed-up, home-made CP-sized "cloffie-bod". It took around an hour to make, and the materials were less than $5. 'Fabric came from the JoAnn's remnant bin. ^_^

    3. I'd do what Brightfires did. I had just a head floating around too for a looong time! X3 But stick it out! I know you'll love him when s/he gets the body.

      They'd be a lot softer and snugglier huh?

    4. my boy shawn was a head for almost 6 months i think, eddie was a head for closer to 8 months, both got bodies for christmas presents last year.

      mira was a head for about 8 months and his body just came two days ago.

      its worth the wait. it really is, to me at least.

    5. (a sort of update.)

      I had to sell my floating Giese head months ago over bonding issues, >_>;
      He was just overly big for my tastes.

      But I've recently received another "Shell" for my character, He's borrowing another body and has more to "say" then in his former head. ^_^;;
      I'm bonding with this one a little better but he won't be getting his own body for while.

      My first Doll was a just a head at first then I put him on a cloth-body , I loved him a BJD-plushie, he was easy to cuddle with. :D

    6. Obviously a complete doll does get more attantion than a head does.You can make clothes,dress him/her up,take pohots,carry him around and so on.
      You cant really do it with just a head.But having said that I do have one ''doll'' that is just a head.
      LIke you said,the personality is in the face,you can always get a new body.Especially if you are very attached to your doll,you will probably regret selling her later.
      I really wanted elf chiwoo,but coudnt afford all of him.So now I have one of the heads at the moment,waiting for another.The bodies for them will come when I can afford it. :)
      If I was in your situation and had to sell something,I would start with her stuff (clothes,shoes) and then wigs,then body and try to hang on to the head as long as possible. :D

    7. When I get a doll, I prefer for it to be completely together when it gets to me.

      If I ever GOT a Limited or a Special with two heads, I'd keep one body, and just switch heads as I saw fit....

    8. Personally I don't care for floating heads. I've found I put them in a box as I don't like them disembodied... so they aren't really dolls... so why keep them?
      I'd rather have the money in something I can use.

      I've sold dolls it's hurt to part with... but it's just a transient hurt. These are only *things* ultimately. If I were you I'd sell Portia, send my kids to the Regatta and not look back. You can always get another doll. Even another Portia.

      Good luck with what you decide!

    9. i only really buy full dolls cos i prefer them that way but after my next boy i'm considering a split...

      actually i have thought of buying a head of a Shine doll before. it sounds daft but i don't think i can get another full doll after getting El. but my plan is... get the head, either make or buy a cloth body, alter it so it has proper hands and feet. so it can pose similar to a jointed doll and swap over the bodies when needed.

      My mum wouldn't be pleased with another full doll so i thought maybe a head would be good.

      I would like a special edition with two heads so i can work on the face but i'm not too fond of dreaming heads on their own. i prefer to allow the doll to change from sleeping to awake, i.e. i'll change the head before and after bead ^^"

      but i can't think of two of the same head as seperate ppl really.

      still i want at least 2 floating heads for me to work on ^^

    10. Befpre I got Li's body (and nowadays Ke'yaki uses it while he floats around waiting for a body of his own) I used this very handy £0.99 mini bendable camera tripod to set him on. Instant spider-legs! :D *laughs* He looked so cute and funny on this as he scuttled about, I was almost sad to have him leave it behind when his flexibody arrived!

    11. ...I kept her head in a box. T___T;;;;;

    12. If you love her, don't sell her, especially if she is the older mold as that one won't be easy to replace. She sounds too special so maybe there are other things you can sell instead..

    13. My boy is just a head right now...because the body type I wanted was sold out for him, and now they've stopped making them. No one knows what resin will match his, really, so...

      However, I still love him. I fell in love with the doll model when I first saw him on the site. I wouldn't sell him for the world.

      In your case, if it's the face you love the most, you don't really need the body...especially if it's easily replaced by a newer version you like better. In my opinion, the face is the doll, not the body. Besides, if you sell the body, once your money dilema is solved, you can just buy her another body...and some clothes in apology. :)

    14. I have a floating Dollzone Recall head. I loved the face and got the head when I had the opportunity. He did not have a body. I have ordered one for him. But while he waits for his body to arrive, he sits on a small silver platter in the lap of my Happy Doll Dorothy. This was my husband's suggestion and it makes for a rather comical sight. I prefer a whole doll, but I'm drawn to certain faces and if I have to buy the head seperately, I don't mind ordering a body later.

    15. *shrug* I treat them just like my dolls with bodies. I mostly just bought Rey head only because I wanted to get her a DD body, and with Ari.. well, it's hard enough to find a Na Nu Ri that's unmodded. Like I'm gonna find one with a BODY. *snort*

    16. So far, in my eight hours' experience of owning one - he's ended up sitting on Eskar's shoulder. XD I spent most of today giving him a face-up, and as weird as he looks bald and bodiless, he's still too cute to resist. <3 I'll probably put him away upstairs somewhere until he gets a body, though, because I think I'm pushing my parents' patience with doll stuff sitting around...

    17. Floating heads are just not for me... the poor things end up being shoved in a box and being forgotten ;_;

      Nope, If I ever get a floating head I MUST get a body for it asap, or the head will end up being sold ^^;;

    18. I have very little problem with "floating" heads. Allen is borrowing a body now (because Halden has no head and if there's a body....) but when he was just a head, we put scarves on him, hats.... he had a wig on all the time. He had his eyes in and his face-up was just as important as his brother's (who is a full doll). I do plan on getting him his own body, but I don't particularly feel it's necessary to hide him either. Sometimes I hold him, but without his body, I don't tend to take him out with me as much. Freaks other people out. But honestly, it has to come down to how you feel about it. Everyone will feel differently, just trust yourself to come to the best conclusion for yourself.

    19. I've never had just a head but I'd treat it the same as my dolls.

    20. Like it's the hottest thing on the planet!
      Vin was my only ever floating head, and I treated him like a doll without a body... but still like a doll. He still had spunk.
