1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Food and your dolls

Dec 2, 2014

    1. I have lots of prop food because I think it's so cute and am impressed by all the little details. Donuts, cakes, candy, bottles of soda, etc. I bought some of the most adorable little cupcakes from one of the members here. There are many talented artists out there making all this elaborate food that's perfectly in scale.

As for real food, my local doll group used to sometimes get together at Applebee's after meets, and I'd sometimes bring Chulyen in with me. I'd usually sit him in a chair next to me and when I touched him made sure my hands were clean. But even if I had gotten food on him, it was no big deal. As SapphireStargazer said, as long as you stayed away from anything that might stain, getting food on them isn't a tragedy. They clean off pretty well.

    2. I LOVE fake doll food ! I have a lot of those little food shaped erasers (which I repaint to look more realistic) and some I have made out of Sculpey. I have searched out doll props for years until I finally have a full set of perfect SD13 scale stuff: table, chairs, plates, silver ware, candlesticks, vases with floral arrangements, wine glasses, wine bottles, soda and beer bottles. A project I hope to under take soon is an ancient Egyptian throne room diorama, complete with the historically correct foods: a roast duckling, fish, onions, bread and a dish of figs.

I am very careful about my dolls being around real food. The first time I took a BJD out in public, I went to a restaurant with a salad bar.... and my dolls wig fell off.....and it just almost landed in a vat of mayonnaise! Wouldn't that have been a mess?! So I am ultra careful now. I don't touch a doll without washing my hands first.

    3. I don't use real food near my dolls, but i adore taking photos of them with miniature foods i make. My problem is my Gracie is like me- she loves junk food- doughnuts, cake, pies, candy, etc. I also love the challenge of making it look as real as possible, with bits out of it, like the doll is actually eating it. I make a variety of miniature foods and have been experimenting with the SD or 1/3 scale size....my current dolls are an MSD and a Sybarite in 1/4 scale , I am seriously considering buying an SD toget the scale of the food in that scale correct. I guess you could say my crafting came first, and then the bjd's, lol....

    4. I love making miniature sweets for my Phillip out of polymer clay. A close friend got me non-edible sprinkles and toppings for cupcakes and I went nuts! Lol

    5. I don't collect toy food for the dolls, and in fact I used to think my dolls were the only ones in the universe who didn't live on eraser-food. But I have gotten some as gifts, so there are a few fake edibles around-- a lipgloss shaped like a cupcake, a paperclay apple and some paperclay buns, and jars of tiny candy. Real food, don't usually bother with it; sometimes they may pose next to it at a meetup, but basically no.

Mostly, my dolls have booze. I LOVE collecting those perfect little 1:3 liquors in their fancy bottles, and since most stores sell them around here, my dolls have a much more comprehensive liquor-cabinet than I do. The big boys also have cocktails & wineglasses. The Mini dolls all have 1:4 bottles of beer, since they're all juvenile delinquents and wouldn't bother with fancy liqueurs. Casual photoshoot observers may wonder if the reason these guys always seem so happy is because they've always got a drink nearby. ^^

(My friend Farallon is really big into miniature everythings, so when we go to meetup-parties at his house, there are always in-scale gourmet delights; he bakes tiny baba cakes and makes tiny roast quail... or assembles fancy salads out of lichens and berries and things we find in the forest. His dolls also have perfectly in-scale Spode and Limoges china to sip tea from, so they're a lot more civilized than my boys. You should see his Thanksgiving table!)

    6. I plan to do this with my other bjds when i'll own them.
But Yo is based on a character which his soul was forced into a bjd body so he doesnt eat.

    7. I don't have any miniature food for my dolls, but I have thought about making some out of clay. I really like how others use them as props in photoshoots.

    8. I have a few food props, mainly sweets and eraser sushi :) I don't photograph my dolls too often but I will pose them with their cupcakes or whatever.

As for real food, I'm not really too concerned about keeping it away from my dolls. I'm careful about washing my hands before I handle a doll, though. Especially if I've just eaten something like pizza!

    9. Reminding me how I ordered pizza yesterday with my friend and she said it would be funny to take a picture of us almost touching my bjd with the oily hands

    10. i make miniatures for my DOLL !!
just like this! well easily to make from polymer or air dry clay! i am in the progress learning, and making out some of them just for my boys!
because i wish to have some cakes for them that just looks like they are having food like me.

i make some outs available in my instagram!

    11. I like making my own fake food for my dolls from polymer clay. It is quite fun and interesting making it yourself. (It sure gives you a new appreciation for the miniature food artists!)

    12. I always pretend to share my food and drinks with my dolls :3
