Fur or Fiber Wigs?

Feb 1, 2015

    1. I prefer fiber wigs, however, there are times when I want a certain look and decide to go with a fur wig.

    2. I have only used fiber wigs. I prefer their sleek look over the wild look of fur. However, I have Ramcube Lakia head whom I can't picture in anything but a fur wig. As soon as he has a body, I'm ordering him a fur wig. I hope I will like it as much as I like my fiber wigs, but I'm not convinced I will.

    3. I prefer fur wigs to fibre wigs for some strange reason. I really don't like the flyaways and glossiness of fibre wigs. But I'd definitely prefer alpaca wigs or soft fur for longer wigs! I just wish I could find the right ones :(

    4. I think, for me at least, it matters on the look you're trying to achieve for your doll. I have both natural and real fur as well as some fiber and I think they can all look nice when they're of good quality. If I want pinky spikes I go with faux fur; luxurious fluff then I want mohair; silky smooth long hair or structured curls I find in fiber. Definitely different looking but still work well in the same grouping of dolls.

    5. i prefer fiber for girls and fur for boys

    6. I prefer fiber overall; I like the consistency of having all dolls with similar types of wigs, and like the way fiber wigs hang and flow. A large number of my characters tend toward long hair, as well, which is harder to manage with a fur wig.

That said, I have one girl in a fur wig, and I don't think I could ever put her into something else. The wild, spiky, all-over look is a perfect fit to her personality, and a fiber wig just wouldn't be the same!

    7. Really depends on the character and the quality of the fur wig... But I think I like fiber wigs the most, especially Monique/fin haired wigs. :)

    8. Sometimes fur looks better, and sometimes fiber looks better.
It depends on the dolls' looks/personality I guess ^^'

    9. I generally prefer fiber wigs, but if a doll is a boy, fur is great for a short hair look >w<

    10. I really like the fiber wigs, though some fur wigs look nice.

    11. I think it really depends on the style you're going for. I usually don't like the faux fur wigs unless they are styled properly. I have seen a few that look beautiful but for the most part they usually look a little silly to me. I also really love the natural fiber wigs they always look gorgeous.

    12. Fiber. I like the look of some fur wigs, but not on my crew. I prefer the colours and styles available in fiber by far. I like to pet fur wigs, but not wear (or have my dolls wear). :)

    13. Celticlady, You like to pet the wigs, but have you ever tried to style the fur wigs? It always looks like so much fun! I haven't, I'd be afraid I might ruin it somehow. Do you have any yourself but realized you didn't like it after you got them or do you just know you wouldn't like them?

    14. I definitely prefer fiber. I've only seen one fur wig I liked, and literally dozens I liked made with fiber.

    15. Yes please. :P

But seriously, I've been seriously considering making a fur wig for my first couple dolls, just so I have a cute, inexpensive short-haired look. They can also be an option for when you really don't want a bald doll, but you don't have the spare $$ for the specific fiber wig you want right now.

    16. I'm really not a big fan of faux fur wigs. I don't know what it is, they just don't do it for me (and I'm lazy, I'd rather have a fiber wig that comes styled than have to tame a fur wig ;p). They do suit some characters, but I wouldn't want one for my own dolls, I generally prefer long hairstyles that work best with fiber wigs. I have seen some really lovely alpaca wigs though.

    17. For me it depends on the character, and the look I am going for. Right now I have 2 girls and 1 boy. my boy has a fur wig, and my girls have fiber. I have a fur wig for one of my girls, and she wears it on occasion, but I like her fiber wig better.

    18. I have a few fur wigs that I got heaven knows where (I think they somehow migrated from friends to me) and I've also pet the wigs of friends' dolls. I've never tried to style one, no... they seem fairly simple to style but keeping them styled might be a challenge! Not sure how well fur keeps product in it.

    19. Hahaha that's silly,
You know, I haven't tried it but.. I bet hair wax would work very well in fur wigs! I feel like the styles would stay for a good while. I might have to experiment

    20. Toodles, definitely let us know how that goes! I love learning new things about doll hair of all kinds.
