Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Fur or Fiber Wigs?

Feb 1, 2015

    1. CleverLC, I'll be sure to let everyone know when I have the time to try it out. I will have to do it on a day my boyfriend isn't home so I can steal some of his hair wax. He is very protective of it because he bought it in Japan and I guess he can't find it online anywhere or something haha. But I don't think I would need much so it should be fine.

    2. I have a fiber wig now and it is beautiful, but I'm wanting a fur wig only because I think it'll fit my doll better.

    3. For some of my dolls, fiber wigs suit them just fine. As for Artie, he practically needs a fur wig to get the right style that he needs.

    4. I used to buy mostly fur wigs because it used to be hard to find decent fiber wigs for male dolls and most of them made the doll look too girly for my taste. But lately, I've been buying mostly fiber wigs due to the increased number of female dolls I own. I also find it a bit easier to get nice looking fiber wigs for my boys.

    5. It depends on the sculpt and/or character. My IH Felix always looks off in fibre wigs.

    6. I prefer my dolls with fiber wig over fur one because it looks more realistic and easier to be styled. I'm not good at styling hair after all :XD:

    7. I have never bought a fur wig for any of my dolls, but I usually don't like the look of them. I know they are probably good for a j-rock look, but I associate them with fans of the "scene" style of music (punk-pop-metal trend from the early 2000s). I prefer the realism of fiber wigs. But, the lightweight quality of a fiber wig may come in handy to me someday. Never say never..

    8. I only have 2 dolls, and first bought a fur wig. it feels sooooo nice but it didn't shape well and made his head look huge. :(
I need to research more on using hair products for fur.
Fiber wigs are gorgeous I find, but I wish I had a good fur wig like the most popular BJD owners on the net.
I just worry about them all looking the same. especially with the boys. the side fringe and back spikes can tend to look abit alike over time :(

    9. I'm particular about wigs. I prefer natural looking dolls, with natural looking hair. To me, the fur wigs look too fake. Nothing against people who like them, but it's just not my thing.

    10. i personally think that alpaca fibre wigs look great! They look really realistic and they feel great too. The only thing is that if you are looking to purchase an alpaca fibre wig, you should buy the wig from a seller that actually makes really nice looking alpaca fibre wigs because some can look really frizzy and not as realistic. I recommend look at wigs made by apoemwithnowords and sorabjdfashion both these wigs makers make really nice wigs. i find that fibre (synthetic) also look really good though many people i know prefer alpaca to synthetic. I guess its kind of like hair extensions for humans. People wig prefer human hair, hair extensions over synthetic. Sorry i ramble alot;p

    11. I love fur wigs, only one of my dolls wears a fiber wig. I have like 20 fiber wigs I need to get rid of since none of them are used...I just don't like them as much as fur wigs.

Fur wigs for boys and alpaca wigs for girls.

    12. I like both equally. Some of my dolls just look better in fur, and others in fiber so I have a pretty equal mix. I've always found fur wigs to be easier to style, mainly because if a couple of hairs are out of place on a fiber wig it stands out more in pictures in my opinion.

    13. I use them all. I love fake fur wigs on my pukifees. But they are not realistic looking.

    14. I love real and faux fur wigs on my guys! My BJDs have mostly anime styled features, so I like faux fur wigs a lot because they can be spiked without any hair product.

About a third of my boys wear fur wigs. The girls wear fiber wigs.

    15. I prefer fiber wigs. Fur wigs have a fluffy and sometimes messy look that I don't want for my dolls personally, though I do like feather wigs.

    16. I have both, and it honestly depends on what doll/outfit.
For my minifee I have two mohair wigs and a couple of fiber wigs. And honestly, the fur wigs are fun to style-- but you have to keep a comb and lint roller on you.

With fiber, I tend to have problems with stray hair a lot; and that can get annoying sometimes in photo's. However its an easy fix with a comb and a little bit of water on a cloth to weight it down.

I am not a fan of faux fur, however.

    17. To be honest, after I touched angora hair, I couldn't really go back to synthetic fibre. I have yet to ever have synthetic fur, though.

    18. All my current dolls have fiber wigs because I like how realistic it looks, but for me it depends on the style of the dolll.
My next Yo-SD is going to have a blond/rainbow-colored fur wig ^^

    19. Personally I like how fur wigs look and how you can style them in soooo many ways!

    20. I don't like fur wigs at all. Fiber all the way for me.
