Halloween dress up

Sep 30, 2022

    1. Anyone else getting ready for Halloween for there dolls? Dressing up in costumes and all.. my ladies are ready for the spooky Halloween party with there new outfits and a night of horror movies for Halloween

    2. I've been trying to make some simple witch hats for my dolls!
      I would have liked to sew something too, and had a few ideas, but I don't think I'd be able to make it in time. Maybe next year?

    3. I always have a goal of completing Halloween-esque, or at least scary/horror-themed outfits for my dolls in time for Halloween, but I fail each and every year I try. Mostly because I suck at sewing; I procrastinate a lot as well, and then because I also suck at life! DX

      I am probably not going to finish in time this year either, but now that I have a much smaller BJD to work with, I might be able to at least not give up halfway through. Although, it's probably already too late -- should have started sooner. Lol!

    4. I never really do costumes but I have witches already and they have hats for the occasion and I love collecting the Halloween fabrics to make my dolls cute seasonal outfits like printed dresses or what have you. One day i'd like to do a simple trick or treaters procession photo with a few dolls in things you could believe as a costume but it hasn't come together yet.

    5. I do with some of them, sometimes. Two of my oldest boys have set Halloween costumes I made them ages ago, Bart has a Ghostbuster jumpsuit and his clone Thaddeus has a ghost costume. (sheet with eye holes cut in it.)

    6. In 2019 I intended to dress the Macchonna's for Halloween. But only got the 2 youngest actually ready in time...so, while home in 2020 I got the other three girls' costumes made. Which only leaves 2 more boys stuck at home unless I make them sheets to be ghosts... ;}

      My friend Maryfairy5 has been a great creative collaborator when it comes to thinking up ideas for Halloween meetups for our doll group. One year we had the monster mash ball & I made my CPDelf girls dresses while El used a grey suit a friend gave me to be Dorian Grey.

      My Unidoll Rio made such a good Riff Raff... ;}

      Of course we had a cemetery...

      Poof! A Halloween ornament becomes a great hat when pinned to Lishe's wig...
      https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/f56/LionHeartHats/IMG_20181009_155240083.jpg

      Another year we turned her dining room into a woodland setting for a Labyrinth-esque ball...
      https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/f56/LionHeartHats/009.JPG
      Adding a cape & a mask I made of lace turned this Cheerydoll dress into a perfect guest attire...

      And another time our Little Fees went trick or treating at Mary's Lishe's haunted house...

      I think since 2009 or 10, at least 1 or 2 of my dolls have dressed up for Halloween since it's my favorite dress up holiday. <3

      Acacia/Amelia got my first Halloween costume. Plan was to make a matching dress & purple long tailed jacket for me. I got my jacket & hat made & her dress & hat made. And since then she's been all Edwardian & busy in the desert with Emerson. :P

      Oops! Had to go back & edit as photos aren't supposed to go in discussion...are they?

    7. I probably won't have time to dress my dolls up for Halloween this year, but I loooove looking at all of the pictures when everyone else does it! It's so cool to see everyone's creativity! :love

    8. @cuthulhu
      Well, they were links, not photos - nice work around! ;)
      I so enjoyed seeing your 'costumes'!! In particular Riff-Raff -hysterical!
      Very inspiring for the season! Your Halloween bjd group knows how to doll party!!

      I do have a few costumes tucked away, and while I may not be able to make a whole costume ( or 25!) for the season, I can add more detail and refinement each year.

    9. Yes! My doll Mia will be a valkyrie with filigree armor, leather pants, leather boots, and a winged tiara. :)

    10. I used to do costumes, but I haven't in a long time. After working at Spencer's for years during Halloween (before that all got moved to Spirit), I kind of hate Halloween. :sigh My dolls are my RP characters, so if they have a party with my partners' crews, they only get costumes written in their stories, not in doll form. I do still love seeing other people do costumes, though. There are some pretty amazing ones!

      This is the best thing ever! :XD:

    11. My own dolls would not be ready in time for Halloween this year, but I'd love to see everyone's costumes and pictures! Halloween is such a cool theme :love

      @cthulhu Your costumes, props and backgrounds are amazing! Love that you have a different set up each year, but they're all still so detailed and spooky!

    12. I love looking at the Halloween photoshoots! For me, I am currently needle felting some fox ears and tails for a low key costume for some potential meetups but nothing crazy this year

    13. Yesss not sure what costumes/outfits I'm gonna make them yet but I'm excited ^-^

    14. In theory I'd love to dress them up for Halloween and Christmas, but I haven't managed it yet. I failed really hard last year when I got a couple of cosplay costumes for two of my dolls to dress up. I decided I wanted those characters as their own dolls instead! So now I have two additional dolls. Halloween is clearly too dangerous for me when it comes to dolls.. :spider:

    16. I was surprised to find that I actually had quite a few halloween-ish outfits for my dolls. I’ve been collecting since 2006, and I have a passion for fashion, so I’ve pretty much collected wardrobes for them too along the way. The fact that I sew helps, so much so that I sometimes forget what I’ve made.:sweat Which was how I discovered I had many more halloween outfits than I’d realized. I just kept going through drawers and boxes and uncovering them! And by the time I was done, I’d dressed about a dozen of my minions.:lol: In fact, I just remembered one I’d forgotten, so now I need to get her dressed too. Here’s one of the outfits I made over the years.

    18. Wow, I'm so behind the schedule this year O.o I think two out of siz have something halloween related ready by now and I don't think I'll have the time to correct it but I'll try.
      Anyway, it's always cute seeing others' dolls dressed up for the occasion. Have fun trick or treating!
