Has your size preferance gone from big to tinies since you began or is tiny your pref

May 22, 2014

    1. My smallest doll is an off-topic pet doll at around 8 cm high, and my largest is just over 71 cm. My first doll was a big boy and they are by far my favourite type to collect, but I also have a few MSD and Yo-SDs in the bunch. (I just recently set up another display area for the Yo-'s so I could have more room for big boys and girls coming in.)

      At first I thought I would never have anything smaller than 60 cm but now I have dolls in every size and I love them all.

    2. This hobby keeps my preference up and down hahaha...
      I wanted a 40cm-ish doll at the first, then larger [60cm-ish], then tinies, then largerrr [more than 65cm-ish]. :lol:

      I think my collection has a pretty good range of height. XD;;
      And now I don't have any spesific height... ^^;;;

    3. My preference has been more or less the same all the way through. I've preferred SD or 1/3 from the beginning, mainly because I have mainly adult characters, and I always thought SD was such a perfect size. Ever since I held my first SD, I knew it was the right size for me. have one MSD (since she is a child), and I do love her, but I think I belong more with SD's.

      Lately, I have been turning my interests to bigger dolls, like 70+cm, 80m, and even 90cm. Started with big, took interest in bigger! :)

    4. I have three MSD's but I do want to get another Yo-SD..XD; I'm trying to talk myself out of it.

    5. Hey this is an awesome topic which I have been thinking about lately! I started out LOVING the 60cm dolls but once I started seeing and holding them in person something told me they weren't quite right for me. I got an MSD as my first doll and I think it was a wonderful fit, but as time went on I felt like it was still too big and started getting out of the hobby :( . Recently I got a mature 27cm doll and I have to admit, it was love at first size! I honestly didn't think I would ever get this size, but like many of you here, once I held it I knew it was the right size. Lesson: go out, make some friends, and hold many sized dolls because it may surprise you ;)

    6. XD; I know this be true...I still can't hold an SD without feeling like I'm holding a child.

    7. I started out with msd as I didn't want to go any bigger, and ended up having just yosd. I do have one exception, my 40cm ChicLine (my one mature sculpt that's not too big!). Having a doll that is taller than 12" just feels odd to me.

    8. I got into the hobby with the Tinies. Once I got my Pkf home I fell in love with her size, I have two more on the way. But I also realized I would like something bigger as well. So I'm into Tinies and MSD sized bjds.

    9. Well, my preferences have changed. I currently have an SD but I'm planning on passing her along and purchasing a Yosd. :)

    10. Lately, I prefer puki puki size, because I'm building a doll house and they are JUST the right size. With all the props, the backgrounds etc, I'd be able to make a ton of pictures!

      Unfortunately, I don't have the money to buy any dolls...

    11. I've been saving for my first bjd and I was totally set on the MSD size ...
      But then...
      For my birthday as a total surprise my two besties brought me a Pukifee Pukisha faceplate, and I instantly fell in love with her and I wasn't bothered by the fact that she was a lot smaller than what I had planned to save for my first bjd.
      I guess you just never know what might surprise you!
      So I still love MSD's but I am rapidly falling in love with tinies!!!!! :)

    12. I tend to fall in love with SD size dolls the most. I don't know why. I choose dolls based on their faces, not their size, but it seems the faces I like are all big dolls.

      Having been in the hobby for many years now, though, I'm starting to feel like I've reached my limit for big dolls. I just get overwhelmed at the thought of many more in that size. I'm trying to steer myself more towards MSD and tinies.

      Luckily, the variety of tinies available now is really excellent. It used to be that most tiny dolls were cute and babyish. I feel like there are more interesting options now than there used to be.

    13. Hey all :D thankyou for replying! I thought it was just me that was fascinated with why my preference has gone pukipuki size then yosd(is that right for27cm?)Sorry total newbie!

      Originally I collected 1/12 miniatures and similar to you Silk I fell in love with lati white but ended up purchasing a lati yellow lol, it took a while to get used to her size but now its the face,(I think! Haha!) as I have one lati white sp, two lati yellow, one pukipuki, a dika doll bobby who is now a girl and a yosd Uri x

    14. The first doll I saw in real life was yosd sized but I always had a preference for msd dolls. Now that I'm more into the hobby I've taken a liking to SD dolls as well. I love seeing everyone's pukipukis and latis they are like little babies you wanna hug.

    15. My first doll is 1/3 size. I prefer middle to large dolls, so I'm jumping between 1/4 and 70 cm dolls.:) They are large and heavy but I do enjoy sewing clothes and taking their photos. And I don't think I will adopt/buy any smaller doll because I lose interest in them quickly.

    16. My size preference hasn't changed at all, I've always been interested in larger, 1/3 scaled bjds.

    17. My first was a YOSD and second a tiny. I thought I'll go small and see if I like the size. However....all my other dolls from then onwards where around SD17 or above and I haven't looked back. I don't play with my YOSD as much and I've almost never touched my tiny. I guess I just prefer the larger sizes.

    18. I started from MSD to SD size, and the last doll I buy is a tiny :)

    19. When I first came into the hobby, I was drawn to the mature sculpts, which were primarily SD sized or larger. However, after having finagled with a few sizes, I find that bjds larger than 60cm are too cumbersome for me to pose. Now that there are much more options, I try to look for mature sculpts at the 46-58cm range.

    20. I started with MSDs but I have a few SDs and I like them both. I really look at face sculpts and body styles more than size. Never really had any awww moments with tinies so I don't have any (unless you count Racine, my Nefer Kane Iracebeth, lol
