1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

has your taste / style changed since you started this hobby?

Mar 22, 2013

    1. I started out as pure Sweet Lolita wearing BTSSB. Now, Isabella has become more of a muse and wears everything from Mod 1960s to Rococo. She is really a chameleon. :)

    2. I would say my taste expanded, and the dolls mostly got bigger from Sd's to 70cm. Plus I now have 2 MSD's with solid characters. I still have most of my dolls. I've sold very little over the years.

Clothing wise is more of a fluctuation. I had the gothic punk style I started out with. Then had a Victorian/ steampunk phase then my ultimate fashion.... Ancient Chinese outfits and Japanese kimonos (that just keeps growing). As the collection grows though and more characters come in from my novels the older items are getting used again. XD

    3. The styling I like is more or less the same? Girly, floral, a bit lolita, and also vintage and mori girl style~ ^^

    4. I don't know if their styles have changed because I clothe them based on their personalities, but I think my tastes in sculpts has changed a wee bit. I have found myself drawn to the classic Volks look more than the more realistic, which is kind of where my brain was trying to take me at first.

Though I will say that I have more fluffy dresses than I ever imagined I'd have for them. How did that happen?

    5. oh yes! my taste has also gotten more expensive! i started out with struggling on how to justify a $200 doll and now i drop $600 easy! WHOOPS!

    6. It's only been two years since I got my first doll, and about three since I found out about this hobby. In that time, my taste in clothes for them hasn't really changed. It was all over the place to begin with, depending on each dolls' character. For sculpts, I wouldn't say my taste has changed per se, just expanded. I still love the molds that made me fall in love in the first place, but I've added others as well. Not necessarily a good thing for the wallet. :sweat

    7. They have, quite a bit, I feel. I started out with a DOT Ducan. I purchased an Iplehouse Claude last year, and he made me want to reshell my Ducan and my Kid Delf to Iplehouse dolls.

    8. Well, I am totally new and just made my down payment on my first bjd...yesterday! Though, the fact that I even want a bjd is a big change. I've been collecting other dolls and I thought they were expensive. However, having fallen in love with a particular doll has led to an obsession. I found other dolls that I love too, but I decided to go with my original love at more cost. I know sometimes trying to "cheap out" on a vision leads to disappointment and eventually costs even more, as you end up going with the more expensive eventually anyway. However FULL price and I are not compatible. So, I went middle of the road. I am buying the actual doll that I fell in love with, in newish condition. She is a Volks 4 sister mold, SD10 and should be able to be faceupped the way I want. I am a bit freaked about having a doll that large, but that is what I fell for... I also want a YO-SD, and a MSD for sure. So far there are a few dolls other than Volks that I really like and may love, but the jury is out on that. I also have a lot of hates, that I won't mention for fear of offending. It will be interesting if that changes, but honestly, some creep me out and I hope that it won't!

    9. I think my style has changed. I used to wear quite punky clothing, whereas now, I seem to have gone slightly girly. Seeing all these cute BJD outfits makes me want to wear clothes like them too! XD
