1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Have you ever kept the Sculpt Name as your Doll's Name?

Oct 28, 2009

    1. Although I give all my dolls new names, in my head when I think of an individual one, I think of them using their original names. So, my Volks Rose is renamed Melina, but if I want to do something with her, I think I have to move Rose. Think that makes sense, lol.

    2. My Bluefairy Kyle kept his sculpt name, even though he was given a whole character for photostories. I just liked the name that much.

    3. I probably would do it if I felt that the name worked out well enough.

    4. I fell for the mold of Volk's Shiratori before I really developed any character for her at all. When ever I talked about the idea of finally getting her, I would refer to her by her mold name too. When I did finally get her, it took me a long time to try and come up with a fitting name. I decided on "Torii" and named her after the gates of a Shinto shrine. Shinto religion is a great interest of mine, and it fit in with my character for her of being a nature spirit. So, it's not the same as her mold name, but it's pretty darn close. ^_^'

Funny thing is, I'm going through the same problem with other dolls I'm pining for. ^_^' Volks Minoru and Hinata aren't popping into my head with different names...maybe after I get them and spend some time with them. *shrug*

    5. I kept my Ryun's name because it suited him; I even went to the extent of finding kanji that would fit (sort of) - 竜運 = ryûn, or dragon fortune. He's the only one of my dolls whose sculpt name I've kept though.

    6. I kept my Captain Cecile as Captain Cecile as I loved this character that Volks developed.
Most of my Dollfie Dream also kept their mold name, as the reason I bring them home is I love the original character.

    7. My dolls are both nameless right now, so until I give them names, I use their sculpt names. ^^

    8. My dolls are destined to be really specific characters, but I feel that until I have their proper eyes/wigs/costumes and such in place I should just continue to call them their sculpt names. I got to wait for them to finish to reveal them as the characters they are destined to become :)

    9. The boy I'll be ordering in the beginning of June is a LUTS CP Delf Shine... And I'm planning on naming him Shane oO;; It seems kind of uncreative to myself, but I really like the name Shane for some reaosn :D

    10. Abit of both. All my dolls are based on the characters I have, but I'm seriously considering a fdoll Nina just cause my name's Nina. If a dolls mold name is something easy to remember, like Gallahad, then Id keep it. But every time I see a leeke Adolf I automatically think of Hitler...

    11. I doubt I'd have any of my doll's keep their sculpt name as their proper name, that's probably because all of them already have pre-made characters. :huh?: However, I don't find anything wrong with keeping the sculpt's name. I just like making them feel they have a distinct individuality.

    12. My one doll hs kept her sculpt name for the whole year I've had her....
It's not SUPPOSED to be her name, but cant think of a good one >3>

plus mayu-mayu is just too catchy of a sculpt name to get rid of easily XD

    13. Before (or after...) I purchased my doll, I thought about leaving her name to Litchi because she looked like a "Litchi." Once I started watching AMVs of Abney Park (Sleep Isabella <-- first Abney Park song) and The Geographic Adventures of Jasper Morello, I put two and two together and got "Jasperella." If I were to get anymore dolls, they will most likely be named after songs from my favorite bands or names from my favorite band members.

    14. I haven't received her yet (although she should be arriving any minute now!), but from the official and owner pictures I've seen of Ringdoll Rebecca, she really does look like a Rebecca to me, and I even call her Rebecky when talking about her to people. I haven't felt that way with any other doll, so I really think I'm going to keep that name for her. As a matter of fact, I really dislike most sculpt names...

    15. Heh heh... :)

I just got a Tan Limhwa Luna (possibly the most gorgeous BJD ever made, but I digress...) & kept the sculpt name as part of her name (see my signature). It makes sense, though, since 'Luna' is also my surname.

    16. My Volks Yuki has kept her name, though she has an added middle name (Hana). I tried to come up with a new name for her, but when I looked at her, all I could see was Yuki.

    17. I have my own names for them, but when I post here, or go to meets i call them by sculpt because people wont know otherwise.

    18. I don't really keep the same name but for two of my dolls I did variations because it sounded better to me.

My Dollstown Estella became Illuminatia Estelle.
My Ricky Faren became Litechquoya Faharen.

I'd feel weird if the name was the same as the sculpt but I am prone to buying dolls exactly as advertised in pictures.

    19. I had my doll for about a month before I sat down and wrote a story, and I had a name for her. When I bought her I knew I was going to rename her... it just took a long long time and a story. :)

    20. I kept Estella because I love the name for her. But when I change my dolls look they may become a character in a new story and then they take on an appropriate name. I keep meaning to store the names in a notebook exclusively for that!
