1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Have you ever kept the Sculpt Name as your Doll's Name?

Oct 28, 2009

    1. Well, for now I have named my dolls with my own names. I don't know, but for me to give them a name is what makes them really yours and irreplaze ^ ^

    2. I only have one and it would be Mars from Iplehouse. I've always loved that name and the character was originally named 'Marco' so it just fit. I like Mars a lot better too. X3 But otherwise, I don't like the original sculpt name. Though, it was hard to stop calling my DOD Ducan by his scuplt name. Damien and Ducan are very similar I'll have you know!

    3. My Bambicrony Emily is named Emily...but that's mostly just a coincidence. ^^ The other Emily's named Mariana.

    4. Yeah. My BBB Elena stayed Elena because I simply loved the name (and it does good with her actually). But I gave her the final appearence and story, so she's in any other aspect very mine.

    5. All my girls have the name from when I got them ;-)
I think the names for them are right now ;-)

They dont have Faceup yet, only my Luts girl Liche ( not right spell :-/ )

So no, they still have the real names ;-)

    6. My dolly always had her original name until I finally thought of the perfect name for her <3

    7. That's it. My first bjd was a SDF Cian, I love him so much, im not able to find a name that fits him..
So I keep calling him Cian. Its not a common name anyway (i think :P)

    8. I've never kept the sculpt name for my dolls. But most of the time I use the sculpt name as reference to my friends because Thats what they know them by.

    9. I just can't

All my dolls have names I gave them (even my second hand doll who did keep her previous backstory with previous owners permission) if I called my doll by its sculpt name it would be near impossible for me to bond with a doll, because to me it won't feel like its Mine.

Also usually my incomming dolls have names waiting for them when they get to me. because of that the sculpt name for me is left at the company door ;)
Though I do use the sculpt name when talking to someone who does not know my doll "this is Cychwynn she is my [insert company and sculpt name]" but thats just if people ask

    10. IH seems to be good with names. XD; I was just looking at their Benny and thinking it was a PERFECT name. I don't really like the idea of keeping the sculpt name, but if I got her, I think I'd have a hard time topping "Benny". <3 (Which is weird, because I usually hate "B" names.)

    11. Ive havent kept the mold name.. but Sometimes I have close names..

      CH Yeanu ---> Keanu

      Luts Soony ---> Sunny

    12. As Captnklaus said waaay back there on the first page, I don't usually base my dolls after a character, but rather; I see a doll I want and start brainstorming ideas for a name and character. So if I was really stuck for ideas and the company name was good, I'd consider it, or at least some variation of the company name.
I wouldn't do it for any of the far out names -This is my doll her name is Petsha >:I - but some of the names are very fitting.

    13. Even though my dolls get their characters and stories after coming to me, I'm giving them their own, individual names. This way they are more "mine". But I must admit, I really like Hua Xi name and it tempted me for some time... So I can also understand people, who keep company names when they fit.

    14. For now. Maybe forever.
It might sound strange but.. I feel like I got to know my dolls when I was still only looking at pictures of them. I got to know them by the names Yrie and Eliv, and that's who they are to me now. Keeping that name won't make them any less mine.
I don't know if they'll always be called by their sculpt names, but they haven't told me their names yet!

    15. As of now I never kept them but I may do it for those I have difficulty to name or just keep the sculpt name as a second or last name ^^

Right now I have a MSDoll Drayton head coming and I really think of keeping its name since I just cannot figure out what to call him xD
Though I do not think that will really happen... I like to keep my own names ^^

    16. Nope and probably wont cause I really love searching for names and giving my dolls one XD

    17. I have sort of, and for an Iplehouse one at that. Last year (I think it was last year, could have been earlier) I spontaneously ordered a Sword Dancer I when they were available (it was the fox mask that did it for me. >.>) . A name for her never came to me, so I just ended up calling her Ai. Same pronunciation just spelled slightly different, at least I assume it's pronounced the same.

    18. Sorta. For some reason my YoSD Eddie decided he wanted to be named Edward Vale von Giovanni.

"But your mold name is Eddie!"

      "So?"

"And Edward is a Twilight character!"

"...I'm much older than he is."

"You're in the body of an eight year old!"

      "I could take him."

So we call him Edward "not-from-Twilight" Vale von Giovanni. I need business cards for this kid.

(Yes, I'm a Twilight fan. XD)

But I sometimes just call him little Eddie or Eddie for short so technically I do call him by the mold name. :3

EDIT: Oh, I should also mention he arrived on June 29th, and I opened him after coming home from the midnight showing of Eclipse. BUT HE IS NOT EDWARD.

      >.>

      I swear.

    19. *snort!* I couldn't help but imagine "I" intended to be pronounced "Eeeeee!" :XD:

    20. Yes, my for my Volks Rose. Rose is just the perfect name for her! It really suits her so I never changed it.
