It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Have you ever kept the Sculpt Name as your Doll's Name?

Oct 28, 2009

    1. I'm still saving for my first, and I might actually go for her sculpt name, I've been set on her for over a year and I keep referring to her by the name of the sculpt.. Aimi (dollzone).. I'm not sure yet though, I'll see when I finally get her ^_^

    2. 4 of my dolls i kept their sculpt names.
      tony,eric,frances and my minimee greg.

    3. Usually I change the name, just because to be honest I didn't really want my dolls names to be Shushu and Riff. However, there's one doll I want, I think it's a Luts Senior, whose sculpt name is Pedro. I just like saying it so much that I think if I ever purchased him his name would be Pedro xD So even though I haven't yet, I may in the future.

    4. I tried naming my BBB Weylin. I keep calling him Weylin anyway. XD

    5. That's what's happened with my Leekeworld Mihael... ^o^ Mihael just seems to fit him. All my other boys have their own names. But I bought the Ganymede head with the purpose of keeping his name. I'm not sure it fits him though.

    6. I name all of my dolls myself. I might keep the sculpt name if I like it, or if it fits the character I had in mind. Some sculpts have very beautiful names, which suit them very well.

My family, though, remembers only the first name they met the sculpt by, so I try to talk of the sculpts at home by the names I intend to give :D My mom actually remembers both the sculpt and the character names. Though she still refers to my customs-kidnapped-Bory as "the girly one"...

    7. I have a Souldoll Zenith Chiron Centaur and at first I tried to name him a different name but its wasn't working out. My crew went in a different direction and my centaur ended up with his company name. Chiron was the name of a famous greek Centaur and well who could you not love the name. After all he's named after a trainer of Hero's.

    8. My friend has this problem, she wrote (was writing but never finished actually) a story where this doll comes in and etc. So she named the character that was the doll Amy. Then she looked online and found a doll that she thought fit the character. She did more research and she found out that the dolls name was actually Amy. So now she ordered the doll (it's coming tomorrow actually lol) and she still doesn't know whether to keep the name Amy (Rose) or Beatrix... sooo yeah

    9. I'm always constantly thinking up new names in my head, so I doubt I'd keep the sculpt name. I'd be one of those people who just used the sculpt name as a placeholder until a fitting name came to me xD Unless it's a character that's meant to be represented...then the doll would be given the character name, obviously.

I have no qualms with people keeping the sculpt name though, sometimes it just fits :3

    10. Well, I order from Iplehouse, and they have sort of stupid names.

Like the sculpt I'm ordering, Tania. I don't like that name at all. But in my experience, owners don't usually keep the sculpt name, even though I'd have no problem doing it if I liked the name enough. :)

    11. Personally it would be really weird to call my doll the same as the sculpt name, since it wouldn't be ME naming it. (and in my case my doll's name who is a boy would have the same name as my girlfriend, and that's even weirder.). I want to give my doll a name that I gave him/her. If I get "Doll-Zone Aaron" and I call him Aaron, it would be like he's not my Aaron, but like a Spiderman figure - for example - where everyone calls it Spiderman. I hope you can get some sense out of what I am writing ^^

    12. I used to name my dolls something totally original, but I found myself calling them by their sculpt name to other people. Now, I use the sculpt name or something very close to it, just because I don't like calling them by two names. They always get an original middle name and the same last name (not mine, their "family" name).

    13. I seriously have considered keeping my basic Charlotte's name "Charlotte", just because it is a beautiful name that I happen to love, and it seems to fit her quite nicely. However, I like a sense of uniqueness to my dolls, because they have personalities and are characters that are, well, unique. Heh. So even though I see nothing wrong with it- and heck, I may myself keep a sculpt name for a doll one day- for now I don't foresee it happening.

    14. Oh I'm so bad with names! I always need help and ask for opinion! My 5 years old lil girl named my SoulDoll Liddell as simply " Li ". Ok, at least she has a name now! ;))
Now I need to find names for my SoulDolls Lester (arriving for me hopefully this week) and Maillo ( ordered today!). I dont want my dolls to be nameless nor keeping their sculpts names! I need to find a name for Lester urgently!!! I have no idea! I hate choosing names, I hate the "preassure" of " I NEED a name!" I always look up on the internet on baby names/meanings sites... but oh I cant decide! This is such a pain!! Maybe there is somewhere here on DoA where ppl discusses names, maybe someone could help me with ideas!

    15. @Looloo, funny thing about Souldoll Lester, every time I mention/think about that guy I accidentally call him Victor for some reason, if I ever get one I think that must be the name he is destined to have!

As for me, I like unique names, so I'm always searching the internet for ideas, or jotting them down when I hear a good one. I was afraid after looking at the same sculpts for so long (a year before I bought my first) that I would be stuck calling them by their sculpt name, but that is not so. Now, I sometimes have to think for a second to remember their sculpt name, and not the name I gave them :)

    16. I posted before but for the first time ever I'm quite tempted to keep the sculpt name of one of my dolls! I just ordered a Minifee Chloe and need to name her and the temptation is definitely there! It's a nice normal sounding name and it sounds sweet to me - which definitely suits her image. Alas, I will fight this urge for now. XD

    17. I have tried to name my dolls, but I just call them there factory names. I think this happens because I refer to them while I'm waiting for them by there scuplt name and it feels odd to do otherwise when they arrive. Maybe it is unoriginal but it is what happens for me.

    18. When I got my Souldoll Hewer I really wanted to keep the name, because I really liked it and I thought it fit him. However, I changed it because I thought people would think it was lame if I kept the sculpt name, but in my mind I always think of him with that name along with the name I gave him.

    19. I have too much fun with names to see myself keeping a sculpt name, but a lot of them are pretty nice, and I guess sometimes they just fit.

    20. Most of my dolls are character-based but even if the doll weren't based on a character of mine I'd still change the sculpt name because I wouldn't feel as comfortable as if I named the doll though some of the sculpt names are of my liking they never stay, they're just for reference in my POV. ^^'
