1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Have you ever kept the Sculpt Name as your Doll's Name?

Oct 28, 2009

    1. I've done this once. When I had Senior Delf Annette on layaway, I decided that not only did I love the name, but it suited the character I had planned for her perfectly. So she remained Annette, but I did come up with a unique middle and last name for her. :)

I also have an older Soulkid Tiffee boy that I call T-Boy, so I suppose that's close. T-Boy is the nickname given him by his uncle/reluctant guardian because he can't stand the boy's real name.

My Iplehouse Lee has been called Lee since I got him, but he has yet to make his character debut. His name will not be Lee once his character is finalized.

    2. I had a BBB Pandora that I used to just call Pandora. and I was tempted to call my FantasyDoll Nina by her name, but went with Lilith instead.

    3. I have , but only one :)
He has his own name but I am just too used to his sculpt name , unidoll's Jace , he is the only one who called by sculpt name in my doll family XD

    4. I am going to order Carina Iplhouse and her name is so good to her that I am really thinking of leaving it. But I am not sure about it))) I know that when I'll see her I can change my mind.

    5. In researching dolls, when I finnally picked the girl I want, I couldnt think of a name for her, and slowly I found out what she was like and discovered her name.

But until then refering to her by her sculpt name made me start to think that one would stick, because its familiar.

    6. Most of my dolls kept their face sculpt names too until I find them names, which never seems to happen.

    7. I'm getting pukipuki Madeleine and LFT Lewi this summer. They are Maddee and Lewi.

Madeleine I just shortened because the sculpt name was slightly long to say whenever I used it in a conversation with someone and so I just shortened it and then it was assumed that I had named her that. And now I think I shall.

Before I decided on getting Lewi, I wanted another boy doll (cant even remember his sculpt name) and had named him Luis. When I decided to get Lewi, the name just stuck! Now his full name is Lewis, like Lewis Carrol, but I call him Lewi.

      It fits!

My two SD's which are on layaway for next year have the sculpt names of Sally and Molly, and I am having a hard time thinking of them as Hannah and Rosalyn, which I named them. So I really hope that when they arrive they stick with that name, and don't decide to not like them :)

    8. I have no plans to keep the name unless it was completely reasonable (Some of the names are just not.... good) and fit the character. Most of the time the name doesn't really matter, but if I just so happened to get a doll with a name I liked I'd keep it.

    9. I always try to change their names, but I'm having a really hard time with my MNF Chloe right now. She's not with me yet so maybe it will be easier once I see her in person. For now I can't stop thinking of her as "Chloe" since it seems like the name just fits. If anything, I might just go for something that sounds similar (like Zoe or even Cleo). Haha, sometimes a name just seems to stick. I don't really see anything wrong with keeping the mold name, though.

    10. Oh yes! yes! yes! I agree with this completely and it is exactly why I have always talked myself out of fullsets...no matter how spectacular the doll might be.:sweat (saves me a lot of money at least.) And it's also why, like you, I insist on their naming being a part of my personal customization process.

    11. I don't think I could ever name a doll after her sculpt name. Thinking of a name for a new doll is one of the most important and fun things to do..! ^^

    12. I usually name my dolls by their sculpt names, mostly to help me remember them. I would never remember the names I gave them, especially since some of them are back in their boxes and don't always get much play time.

    13. I know people who keep the sculpt names for their dolls. Personally, I think I'd prefer to rename them. I already have a name picked out for a doll I haven't even bought yet- actually, most the sculpts I ever-so-desire have already been named in my head. xD

    14. i called my doll by his sculpt name, "SooRi" for a long while before i got him. no name would come to me. when i held him in my arms, the name "Sven" came to me. i played with it for a while, and it stuck. it just... felt right. :d so, his name's Sven. :3

    15. So far I've only done so once, with my second doll- a limited Iplehouse i. I never quite bonded with her until much more recently and so she never really got a true name. I was getting sick of having to italicize the sculpt name every time I wanted to refer to her when speaking to my mate through emails (I have a habit of using "icanhascheezburger" speak when typing to him so it would've gotten awkward if I simply didn't italicize), so I started typing her name how I pronounce the sculpt- Ai. It just stuck from then on. It wasn't on purpose, but it works and she really does seem to be an "Ai" to me now.

I typically like to come up with my own names for them, but since they aren't based on specific characters- it can be rather difficult to name them if a name doesn't come right away. Oddly enough I did have something odd occur though with all three of my dolls when naming them. They somehow all ended up with a name that began with the letter "A". Three totally separate occasions, for totally different reasons, with a year or so between each of them. My third girl- whose name I spent the months of waiting for her to come searching for- ended up with it doubly so. I swear it wasn't on purpose. :doh

    16. I always rename my dolls, because I like to, because sometimes they are based on characters and because mostly I don't like sculpt names. An exception is with Iplehouse Lee. I think he just looks perfect as a Lee. Maybe its because I have a cousin named Lee who is just as happy and smirky looking as he is, but I think his sculpt fits him really well. I'd have a hard time calling him something else.

    17. Yep! My Migidoll Ryu is named Ryuichi but more often than not I just call him Ryu. I've always liked that name though and it seemed to fit his sculpt and character very well sooo Ryu he remained

    18. Yes My A.I.L. Elijah, is still named Elijah, and my A.S. Mr Rabbit head will also be called Mr Rabbit ( although his first name will be Harvey):)

    19. Lol Harvey...It must be a rabbit thing. I have never kept the mold name before as I prefer to name my dolls (and usually if I start referring to the doll by mold name it's time to sell lol) but I have bumped to the top of my wishlist a Cocotribe Wake up Ruby in Strawberry...and I'm almost certain I'm going to call her Ruby.

    20. I like choosing names but somehow I'm not able to with my first doll, a Souldoll Hye. I've been referring to her as Hye for the whole 3 months of waiting now and I can't imagine any other name that fits now...:doh But I really like the name Hye anyway, so I think I'm sticking with it.
