1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Have you ever kept the Sculpt Name as your Doll's Name?

Oct 28, 2009

    1. I have kept quite a few "Sculpt names"....especially my Dollstown crew!.....

Estella will always be Estella! her twin is Ester....I kept Elysia's name and little Seola and Daisy! and Lucille and Susie!..(AiL's Chloe).....Gees, am I just lazy? or do AnJonghak and Torre come up with lovely names for their dolls?......

I tend to forget names I might have come up with to start with..(must write them down)....lol...:?

      xen :)

    2. I wanted to buy dolls that fitted my characters but sometimes things don't go the way you want xD I totally want pukipuki madeleine and ruby because they're just cute! they'll be having different names actually but sculpt names will be sort of nicknames/middle names. as the character came later, their sculpt name and their image is combined in my head, it's hard to get rid of that :)

    3. You're not lazy, it's just that the names they come up with are that lovely. ;) *Loves on sweet names for sculpts* :aheartbea

    4. When I first ordered my DZ Hong, the name Hong seemed like it was the only name for him but I didn't wanto to name him after the sculpt, so I made up a temporary name I use when I refer to him. When he gets here, I'll see what name he gets.

    5. I'm one of thoe people that already has a whole cast of original characters already created that I search for sculpts to match with, so I never use te name that already came with a doll. Most of the time I'm not overly excited about any of their sculpt names anyway so I have no problem ignoring it. However, my one exception is my DoC Ivan since I've always loved loved LOVED the name Ivan, and as the character is Russian I thought it too cute to pass up. For awhile I considered giving it to him as a last name (Ivanov), but instead I gave the name to his older brother, who used to have a different not-quite-so Russian sounding name beforehand. So in a way one of my sculpts name helped influence me into what to name a doll, just not the actual original doll it was attached to :)

    6. I keep a lot of the mold names, the artist picked them and most the time I think they suit the mold well.

    7. My DZ Aimi is named Ami (which is close), but try as I might, I couldn't come up with another name that suited her as well as that, so Ami she is. :)

    8. Some of the sculpt names are super cute :) My friend has a DoC Petsha, and while she has a name (Faline), we called her Petsha for so long before she got here, that it's kind of stuck XD We called her P a lot in conversations, so that's usually what I end up calling her ^ ^

    9. I do a little of both. My BBB Ophelia is Oriana, but another doll (OT, unfortunately) is a "Willow" and the name fits her perfectly so Willow she is.

    10. My RS Mei is named Faye, which is similar, but not the exact same. When I was getting my MNF Soo, before I named her Clare, I called her Soo, and now my family calls her Soo almost exclusively.

    11. I'm thinking about doing that with the dolls I'm going to get from LUTS but only the SDF ones. All the KDFs I want though don't seem to suit the sculpt names they have.

    12. Well, my Volks Yo-SD Kun is named, "Kunkun" if that counts. Ha-ha-ha. It fits her. My other girlies are named differently from their sculpts but I do admit that I see a few out there that I would probably keep the sculpt name as it does fit them well. For exampled, the Volks Suigintou. XD

    13. I plan to keep my doll's sculpt name, as I don't want him to be a specific character. I have over 100 characters, and I don't want to have 100 dolls, so... this way he can just model each one that I plan to work with/develop, and maybe over time I'll buy more dolls to portray my favourites.

We'll see if this plan lasts. ;P I may end up giving him a 'real' name after all.

    14. I have my characters' names already planned out. And I think if I bought dolls outside of
my characters, I would still probably name them myself. Unless the sculpt name just suits them.
Sometimes I LOVE the sculpts name, and sometimes I don't care for it. It would depend
on the actual name, for me. ^^

    15. I so far have never kept the mold's name. I simply name based on what feels right, even on meanings at times.

    16. I very seldom stick with sculpt name except for when it's a name I already like & suits the doll. I find this is more common in my tinies though even with them it's fairly rare. The only SD I kept the company name is Souldoll Killian as I had Killian on my list of names I like & it fit him very well.

    17. Sometimes I do. Quinn from Dollzone is still Quinn because I love the name and it fits him well. And my Luts Cherry elf is also still Cherry. It depends if I like the name or not.

    18. I start thinking about a name as soon as I've ordered a doll. Sometimes it's easy, but it was almost impossible for me to find a name for my delf Cian. I always called him "my new doll" and in the end this was the solution for my problem. His name is 新 (Shin) and this means 'new'.

Megu is my only doll that kept her company name. At the beginning I've called her Chizuna, after a manga character, but I didn't really like the sound of the name and started disliking the manga character as well. That's why she became Megu(mi) again.

    19. Sometimes, yes
I'm usually very slow with naming, so its not unusual for my dols to go for 6+ months
or longer by their sculpt name until I find the perfect name in any case, but I also have
one doll who's petname is the same as her moldname.

    20. i like choosing new names for my dolls. names develope personalities and its easier to get attached to a doll named by you.
