1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Have you ever kept the Sculpt Name as your Doll's Name?

Oct 28, 2009

    1. My Migidoll Miho was a complete impulse buy, so I didn't have a character planned out. I've tried out alot of names but they all feel forced. So I think he might stay Miho.

    2. Ive kept my JID Amy's name Amy because when I first saw her on a picture I didnt know anything about BJDs and everytime I talked about her I said 'Amy!' I was sad thought because I did feel unoriginal after a while I didnt care because no one else named their JID Amy. . . Amy haha :3 so it stuck.

    3. I don't have a doll yet, but I feel that keeping the company's name for the sculpt makes it feel more like their (the company's) persona for the doll. I would much rather name them my self, so my own intended character can shine through.

    4. I've renamed my resin dolls, but sometimes I still refer to them by their mold names because that's easier for my hubby to remember for whatever reason :doh

My Dollfie Dreams are 50/50 - since a couple of them are characters from games/anime it doesn't really make sense to me to change their names.

    5. Unless the name is really pretty or normal, I usually don't keep the mold name.

    6. I considered that for my Afra, Kii, but I didn't particularly like the name, and it didn't really fit him. Same for my floating head, Cedar.

However, the next doll I'll be getting is a B&G Siannodel, and I think that her sculpt name has already stuck. :sweat It just sou8nds so pretty. So I guess it really depepnds on the character, and whether I like the name, of course.

    7. Not exactly, but my Zuzu Delf Florist is named "Flora." In my defense, my roommate and I started calling her "Flora" as a stopgap before she arrived (she hadn't already told me her name, the way my other dolls had) and it stuck. Once I got her I decided she needed a little extra flourish to keep up with my kitty princess Minnaloushe, so her full name is "Flora Delphinia."

    8. I don't have this doll yet, but I plan on getting an Iplehouse Felix and keeping the sculpt name. I name my dolls after classical music composers and I wouldn't be able to get used to calling him anything besides "Felix"

    9. Sometimes I refer to Faye as "my Asil". She still has her own name but I find myself referring to the sculpt when I talk about her to others. ^^;

    10. I have this character that has been a "Luna" for a few years now and once I saw Fairyland's new LTF sculpt (back then) I was surprised that she was a Luna as well! I thought "Wow, this must be fate... why did they choose THIS name of all names?... I must have her!" So, it was only natural that my first BJD ever would be a Luna.... if someone thinks I'm unoriginal or uncreative for keeping the sculpt's name, I don't really care because no other name would fit her!

    11. I have ordered a full set despite the fact that the wig and clothing (which I love) don't fit the character I intend him to be. So I guess that if he's fitted out in his full set gear I'll call him Hal, and when he is wearing the right wig and clothes I'll call him Gwalchmei. Not sure how long I'll keep this up when he's actually here, though :)...

    12. Well when I first got into finding out about BJDs, it honestly didn't occur to me that you could name your dolls something other than their sculpt name. So with this in mind, I kept her name Triya. But even after I learnt that, Triya was just perfect for her. Nothing else would fit her ^o^

    13. I don't do that just because my dolls are character and have their own name. I don't care about the sculpt name even sometimes I think the sculpt name fits perfect for the doll. But if I keep the sculpt name for my doll, I think my doll will not be enough personalized ^^

    14. I think it's up to the owner - if keeping the sculpt name is okay for him, than it's okay) as for me, the name usually occurs to me together with the look that I create for the doll and there's no problem))

    15. I would only keep the sculpts name if it fits the character I have in mind, and if it sounds like a real name.
But I do speak of Baelyn as 'my pukipuki pongpong' sometimes.

    16. my boy's name was Terra, and i love the name, but it was a bit too girly for me, so i went with Shane. c:

    17. No, I'm trying to find their own names.

    18. On one of my boys I kind of kept the name.
He is a Blueblood Valentine. I ended up naming him Florian Kiyoshi Valentine.
I thought it was a good name and would make a nice last name. :)

    19. Most of my dolls have their names prechosen. it's just a matter of finding the sculpt to match the personality. I do have an Iplehouse Harin. I kept her name because I found it beautiful. What I did to make it unique for me was to change the spelling by one letter so Harin is now Haryn.

    20. I'd only keep sculpt name if it fits. I have a 5stardoll Elva sculpt and I didn't really think it fit her, so I didn't keep it. However, I'd probably name a doll who just has a letter and a number as a sculpt with a name that starts with that letter.
