1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Have you ever kept the Sculpt Name as your Doll's Name?

Oct 28, 2009

    1. I'm vaguely tempted to keep the sculpt name for my incoming doll. I can't think of any names for him (since I don't do characters or anything). Shaun is already a nice name, but I do want to change it and make him more 'mine'. I agree with fishbonez, when I call Layla by her sculpt name, I'm definitely acknowledging that she is just an object.

    2. I tend to use the sculpt name or maybe a shortened version of it. I always think they suit them

    3. I give my dolls names, but I tend to call them by their sculpt when I talk about them to other people.

    4. Some of my dolls keep the sculpt name if it fits and some don't. I don't see a problem with it.

    5. The doll would have to have a really unique scuplt name for me to keep it, that and it would have to fit the character. Every doll I've had so far I've changed the name. Especially for my lastest girl, "I". Seems like w weird scuplt name to in my opinion.

    6. The closest I went to calling a doll by sculpt name is one of the little ones in my wishlist, a Fairyland Puki Lily. Whenever I would talk about her I'd call her Lily until a suitable name for her came along. Because my dolls all shell characters I don't really have the ability to keep their sculpt name -except if, by some coincidence, the character and the doll have the same name -which is unlikely, but you never know.

    7. It's very hard to me to invent doll name and when i am waiting i call it by sculpt name and then it becomes a habit...but i still trying to rename it later...(maybe after a couple moths)

    8. I have thought about keeping my doll's sculpt as the name but I've always come up with another name for them. I think if I really like the sculpt name then I wouldn't have a problem with keeping it.

    9. My dolls are like my cats....they have their "real names" and they have the names by which they are actually referred. My cat is Athena but goes by "Fat Cat". So even though my Chloe is named Verdandi, she's just Chloe, my Chloe, or the Chloe-girl. They just never seem to go by their names. Poe is the easiest, and I've finally after a few years of owning her gotten used to calling her Poe and not Tania (her sculpt name).

    10. I've kept my doll's sculpt name due to when I was saving up for her I got so used to calling her Rong it stuck. I have a name for my next doll, and my OT that I have home. Rong was really special, she's my first bjd.

    11. I have two now, my MNF Chloe and Pukifee Luna. I liked their names so much I kept them!

    12. I have kept the head sculpt's name for all of my dolls thus far. I tend to like the names as they are given, and think about them often as I consider a new girl, so they stick.

The upcoming "Saber Alter" will probably be an exception. I like her character but that description-like moniker is a mouthful to use as a name!

    13. Only my first doll has her original names. Because I never thought about giving her a new name hehe ^^;

    14. If I was to buy a doll that wasn't supposed to be a "resin version" of a character. Then I probably would.
I was planning on buying a Blue Fairy's TF Robin, and wanted to keep the name. But then I found another doll that I wanted even more. He doesn't have the original name. But I must say Blue Fairy kind of had a big influence on me. I named him Pepper, after the pocket fairies optional body: "Sugar body for girls, Pepper body for boys". It might not really count, since it's not the name of a specific doll, but I'm just saying, it could've happened. [Not so sure about it happening now, since I have very specific plans for my future dolls, but yeah].

    15. Lev my first baby, well I was looking at other names for him... but then I found out Lev is hebrew for heart...and my last name is heart... then he came on Valentines day....He had to be named lev after that!
Though his brother and Jin all got new names. mainly because they were all made after chracters while lev was a doll who became a character

    16. My first doll was an AOD Fei and she became "Fei Yen" (meaning little sparrow) and my LUTS Annette became "Adel". All my other dolls have completely new names.

I suppose I enjoy making the dolls my own and that includes name originality, but I LIKE some of the sculpt names. And that wouldn't stop me using a sculpt name.

    17. I'd like to come up with my own names, especially if I have a character in mind. But for example I really want a fey tiny, and my mom thought about getting it for me as a gift, so in respect to her I'd keep the same name because that's my mom's name :)

    18. That's what I do as well. Most of the time my dolls "speak" to me and tell me their names. I have also had multiples of the same sculpt so having different names for them was necessary. :)

    19. I second this, Some times I just take a long time to think of a name for a doll that the company name seems to stick, when I am referring to them the company names slips.

    20. I have a BJD coming, his name is lester, I kinds like the name, but I won't know if I'm keeping it oor not until he gets here. now that I think about it, I don't think I name any of my dolls.
