1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Have you ever kept the Sculpt Name as your Doll's Name?

Oct 28, 2009

    1. Always use the mould name otherwise I forget!

    2. Actually never even considered calling my doll by her sculpt i guess i have an act of naming things its a way of making them my own ^_^.

    3. i am making charaters so they already have names in my head, never call them by there sculpt name. my next one will be a ringdoll ronald...i dislike that name, so i keep saying aizen because that will be his name.

    4. Mostly, I don´t like the original names. And sometimes they don´t suite the dolls, I think.

    5. Well, I guess the doll I'm waiting for (Souldoll Flett) could count under this.
When I first got her, I had named her after a character that I'd been plotting out named Adina. But eventually it seemed like the name Flett fit better then Adina. The more I thought about it, the more I preferred the name Flett, so she was just Flett for a while.
That is, until I found the name Aletta. Aletta seemed like a better fit, plus it also had that harsh T sound I liked. So, if it hadn't been for the company naming the mold Flett, she would probably still be Adina right now.

    6. My boy has his own name, but sometimes I do revert back to his sculpt name. It's a very lovely name and it's become a kind of trademark amongst my friends. So I see his "real" name as more of a personal name, but I gladly refer to him using his sculpt name.

    7. I personally have not encountered anyone who does this. I think because this is a hobby that encourages customizing and creativity. Not that it's wrong to do it - I just think most don't because that's what they like about these dolls to begin with. Making them their own.

    8. My dolls do have names, but 98% of the time, I simply refer to them by their mold name. Maybe because i do not know anyone else in real life who is into the hobby, so the only time i talk about my dolls is online, and it is just easier for me to refer to them by sculpt, and i feel its easier for people to find if they are looking for photos of a specific mold, etc.

    9. I have one doll with the sculpt name. It just stuck. I have angst against unnamed dolls and I'm always trying to find names for friends' dolls out of the shoot. I have no issues with people keeping sculpt names. I have more issues with people naming their dolls with 3 or 4 names tied together and then expecting me to remember and be able to actually differentiate them. And then the conversation goes something like this: "Well, you know Abigail Patricia Fern ..and I will say "uh-huh" and I haven't a bloody clue!

    10. For a while I was very intensely tempted to keep my doll's sculpt name. Isar is just such a neat name! But in the end, I felt it would be unoriginal and decided (after much angst) on Ashera... which is still kind of similar to Isar.

    11. I said earlier I wouldn't do this...but I'm keeping my incoming girl's sculpt name XD I've gotten so used to saying "I can't wait for Sinbi!" and it just...stuck.

    12. When I got my Pukipuki Pukisha I already had a character she was supposed to be, so she got the character name, Nissh. But I just got a BBB Rachael. I considered naming her Rachel, but I have so many friends named Rachel that I didn't want her to be in that "shadow". So I named her Rhode, another R-name I like.

However, I bought my sister an AS Momo for our birthday (we're twins) and she got so excited that she'd run around saying "Momo" at random times and the name stuck.

    13. Most of the time, I prefer to name my doll after my favorite character from any favorite book at the moment. I have 5 dolls who were named like that. Some sculp names are cute but I don't like to keep the sculpt name because it'd not feel completely mine, don't know how to explain it...but it is like asking a friend or a stranger to name my doll.

    14. My Robert Pattinson Minimee keeps his name. I mean, who else could he look like. I actually get a little miffed when people ask why I didn't name him Edward. For my other dolls I was tempted to keep my DDoll Lia's name but that changed when she arrived.

    15. This is obviously just a personal thing but I think I would feel like I was missing out on an important bonding element with my doll if I just let them keep the factory name. In fact, I feel like It might actually lead me to not loving the doll as much but I can't really pin down exactly why I feel this. It may just be because I'm quite weird about names, it took me three days to name my dwarf hamster XD

    16. The only doll that I've named is my tiny BBB Nissa, Taruun, since she's my online character in FFXI. But as for my SD boys, Crobi LJ and DS Evan, so far they've kept their company names. They haven't told me anything different yet, but Evan may become "Wet", another online FFXI character that I sometimes play. I might do all of my characters on FFXI one day, but we'll see how it goes money wise.

    17. I just bought a RS Gang and his name is going to be Apollo, for the sun god. I find it funny simply because I almost bought a BBB Apollo instead...

    18. I am not really a fan of naming dolls after their sculpts. In my opinion they are usually given very general names (not that mine are that special) and I always tend look for a name that fits the dolls personality. Naming them after their sculpt is also kind of a problem if you have multiple dolls of the same sculpt *_* (ie: I have three Shiwoo's)

    19. Nope. I never keep the sculpt name. A lot of times, the sculpt name doesn't even sound like a name I would ever use for any of my characters.

    20. I used to think it was like.. taboo to keep the sculpt name lol Until I bought a Soom Kanoa and was like wow... Konoa was just absolutely perfect, I could never think of a name that suited that sculpt better <3
So maybe it depends on the doll ;)
