1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Have you ever kept the Sculpt Name as your Doll's Name?

Oct 28, 2009

    1. They can keep their sculp name if i had too many to keep track of their names. As for now , they get awesome names.

    2. Since most of mine will be based on characters it's unlikely that they'll keep the sculpt name, unless there's some coincidence where the sculpt name is their name anyway which would be funny.

Even for ones where the doll comes before the character they probably won't keep the sculpt name unless I particulary like it.

    3. I haven't named any of mine after their sculpt, but I guess if it fit the character, the name would be kept- but I'd attach the name to the character in my mind, not my dolls sculpt :)

    4. I call my Saber, Saber. It would be weird if I called her Julia one day.

Megu is Megu because... she looks like a Megu? Haha.

Really, I find sculpt names to stick with me.

    5. I feel that half the fun when you get a doll is finding a name to suit them ^^ Sculpt names are alright... but to me they would mean more if I spend time looking up names and their meanings.

I have to admit though... Sometimes it is very vexing to find a suitable name.. so one of mine was stuck with her sculpt name for a couple of weeks =.=;; I finally gave in and named her something that doesn't really mean anything.. but it sounds cool and suits her personality XP

    6. I was given a Hujoo Jake and at first i thought i wanted to name him Dex but I ended up leaving his name Jake just because it fit him. Now i can't really imagine going with anything else.

    7. I actualy give my dolls two names. Their first is one I've given them, and their last is the sculpt name ("family name") . I call them by eather their fist of last, whichever one fits.

    8. I very nearly named my Lillycat Eugenie "Eugenie." It really is HER and the French pronunciation is gorgeous. But it didn't stick because 1) it was a little difficult for me to say and 2) I started to think about how the name would be spoken by most people (most likely they would pronounce it as "Eugene-ee"). From there I started thinking about the name "Eugene" (which I abhor). After that realization, I couldn't use it anymore because I'd start thinking of the masculine version of the name 8'D Which is... really a stupid reason, but there you go. (I ended up naming her Celeste.)

    9. I have an Elfdoll Sooah and Emma, I kept both names due to nothing fit them. I kept trying on different names and they seemed so forced that I just gave up. But I have named all my other BJD's.

    10. I have about 16 sd dolls, most of them i gave them new names but a few kept thier sculpt names because i liked the name and it fit.

    11. I've found that I also tend to stick with sculpt names. My Dollfie Dream Mashiro I've always just referred to as "Mashiro". As for my incoming EID Kamau, I just can't think of a more fitting name for him than that! I feel like I need to think of a name for him though, otherwise it doesn't feel like he's my own in a sense. Who knows what will become of his name... :sweat

    12. I haven't ever kept the sculpt name. However, I've been wanting an Iplehouse SID Felix for awhile and by this point I'm not sure if I can think of him as anything other than Felix. Especially since the name fits his character.

    13. While I do like a lot of the sculpt names, I prefer to find my own. However, finding the right name may take me a while and in the meantime I will call them by sculpt name and even after finding my own name might refer to them by their sculpt so that others can easily tell which I am talking about.

    14. I love Ipplehouse sculpt names, that is why my first huge bjd's name is Akando

    15. I'm planning on keeping my doll's sculpt names. I haven't bought them yet, but in my mind I'm always referring to them by their sculpt names so it's strange to imagine calling them anything else. I'm not buying them to make characters so I don't feel they have any other unique names.

    16. I never keep the sculpt names
I prefer to give new names

    17. My DOT Camine is named Carmine because I thought that was what the sculpt name was at first and it just ended up sticking. All my other dolls have names different from their sculpts though.

    18. None of my girls kept their sculpt names. I gave them all original names that fit with their character. However, I often still call them by their sculpt names :sweat. This happens when I talk to others. My best friend doesn't really remember all my dolls names, but she knows who is who by their sculpt, so I usually say the sculpt name so she knows who I'm talking about. I'm trying to stop that though because I really do like the names I've given them. However, sometimes I get embarrassed when I call them by their names because they are either quite odd, or are Japanese. I always feel bad though when I default to their sculpt names in those circumstances D:

    19. I kept one sculpt name so far, my DDS Akira. I just so happen to love that name. I did, however, change the spelling of it from katakana to kanji.

Otherwise I like to name my dolls myself. I have always loved looking through baby name guides to see the meanings behind names.

    20. I name my dolls I pick them out before or shortly after I get them. Only 3 I kept the sculpt name Moon, Yao and Gene. Moon and Yao have been sold but I could never really name them. Moon her name seemed the fit. Yao didn't think of a name really for her. Gene he was to be named Klaus and after I got him I just kept calling him Gene. So I settled with Chris Gene Klaus and depending on my mood I call him whatever but when I write about him I stick with Klaus.
