Have you ever kept the Sculpt Name as your Doll's Name?

Oct 28, 2009

1. I never keep the sculpt name.

First of all, because a while ago I decided to give all my dolls a Russin name (except for Skittles and Leana).

And second, because usually the sculpt name doesn't fit the personality of the doll, for me.
And usually I have decided the character name even before I have decided which sculpt she will be. :)

2. I personally don't like keeping the sculpt name for my dolls, which led to a bit of a problem with my most recent one, Soom Cass. I didn't have a character in mind for her when I bought her and spent months just calling her Cass. It stuck a bit, but she's got another name now.

3. Actually, I thought about naming one of my Migidoll Miho twins that I just bought Miho. Simply because I like that name so much and also liked it before I decided to get that sculpt, but it just doesn't fit. So both of them will get new names. One has one already.

4. I've decided to keep the sculpt name for my Puki Ruby when she gets here. It just seems to fit her appearance :D All of my other dolls have names of their own.

5. I boys names are different from their sculpts, but my sister's doll Kay is a dz kay, she'd been saving for him for about a year, calling him kay, and when she got him it just stuck.
It just suits him :)

6. When I first got Shin, I had no idea I had to name him. I just assumed that he came with the name "Isao Nanjou." XD I was seriously considering keeping Isao as his name, but a long trip with some friends of mine to a bookstore to look up names finally produced "Shinsei."

7. I just stick with the original name because, personally, I have a hard time naming inanimate objects. The only one with an adopted name is my BB S.E. Bella auden and that's only because she is based (appearance and face-up) on a manga character. The other dolls are just "named" by their designation; succubus, zombie chick, black widow, goth girl, etc...

8. I think it depends on the doll... if the name suits it, then I would keep it. If not, then I'd change it ^^

9. No, but I have come close to doing it! Volks Shiro, he just LOOKS so much like a Shiro - srsly, go look at that boy, that is the face of a Shiro if ever I saw one. When I got him I was so enchanted that I was going to keep his sculpt name, even though I specifically got him to be a character called Sora; so that didn't last long, Sora had to be born. Then I got a rare second chance when Volks released a second version of Shiro; but that one wound up picking the name Sada. I thought of saving up and raising a small Army of Shiros, just for fun, so that I could someday have one who keeps his sculpt name - but that pipe-dream hasn't come to fruition yet.

(Yet. :|)

10. When i was saving up for my Lisa Rubik i would just refer to her by the sculpt name and then when she arrived, i couldn't really find a name i really liked or one that would stick and while i was trying to find her a name again i'd just call her by her sculpt name, after calling her Lisa for a week or so the name sort of stuck and now i can't imagine calling her anything else.

11. Sometimes I'll incorperate it into their full name but otherwise, eh not really.

Because my Crue` are their own characters, based on my RP characters, and the muses in my head. >.<
If they just kept their sculpt name, they wouldn't be themselves.
It's like naming a baby, baby. Kinda a eh factor for me since I love being unique, and even though you'll see other BJDs with the same names, they're still unique to me and no one can change that. Unless they steal my characters, which I highly doubt anyone would want to XD

12. I've got a B&G Ymir, and that name just stuck~
I'd tried loads of other names, but they were all just not...'him'. Yknow?
So finally after a month, i decided "Screw it, his name is Ymir until i find a better name."
It's been around 2 years, and no other name has stuck~ <3

13. I have wanted a kid delf bory for so long now that every time I think of the doll I think of his name. To me his name became a part of who he is and his charm and I can't really see myself changing that, even if I wanted to change it I just can't bring myself to make it.

14. I did! I have an Elfdoll Hana and the name Hana just stuck...it really does suit her :D

15. I've renamed all but one of my boys and girls, and will most likely rename any more that come this way. I kind of feel like they aren't part of the family if they still have the sculpt name, but Chiwoo was unplanned and very much needed- we spent a year calling him 'future Chiwoo' with no thought of renaming him X3 and when he got here, Chiwoo was just what sounded right ♥

16. Oh sure! Sometimes the original name just can't be beat!

I had a Bobo, whom I called Bobo, and I think I'd love to get a Dollti Dong-e and who can change a name that's that adorable and funny? My Binli never really got a real name because I loved saying "bin-lee". I know if I ever got an Elfdoll Bong Sun Hwa there's no way I'd change that... Yeah, sometimes I can't top the original name and it stays.

It's much easier when you have an MSD F-06 or something. Can't go around calling her that... for all I have no idea what I will be calling her yet :-/

Raven

17. I usually keep the mold name as nickname or second name.

18. I have a lot of my doll characters already planned at this stage, although when I got Mikah (my bobobie An) I had no idea what to call him, but keeping 'An' as his name never actually occured to me. I just didn't think it suited him- but I plan to get an IH Silvia, and her name will be Silvia. XD
That's just how the character developed. With the others I look at them and pick something, but with some, it just so happens that the name is right. It honestly doesn't bother me- especially since she's the only one I'm really considering that with.

19. Well, for the dolls I've bought so far and are on my official saving-up-for list, they're characters first. So yeah, the name of the sculpt wasn't going to work for them.

There are some dolls that I want later on down the line that aren't part of that storyline though, since I want them for the sake of oh my god I just really want that doll. DX Kurumi specifically I've wanted the longest and haven't been able to think of what I could name her...and I did almost decide that I was just going to call her Kurumi if I ever got her. Then I found another doll that I wanted as her twin - because I'm an idiot, and a sadist towards my wallet. Now I -have- to come up with a name, so I can give them matching names. (Hey, it's better to do it to dolls than to real kids. )

20. I haven't yet, but I would definitely consider keeping the name if it fit. XD
