1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Have you ever kept the Sculpt Name as your Doll's Name?

Oct 28, 2009

    1. I have friends who keeps their sculpt name, and some are bothered by it, but really, people can do what they want. they can name the dolls after themselves for all I care.
I'm saying this because I remembered a girl who complained how the other girl kept her dolls sculpt names. At that time I didn't say anything.
I wish I did. I have one boy that keeps his sculpt name, because I feel its unfair and unfit to name him anything else: Arashi.

    2. I always CHANGE their names…they feel more "mine" that way. ALL my dolls Himstedts, etc

    3. Most of my dolls have different names but my Obitsu Gretel has been deemed 'Gretel'. It's mostly because I think the name suits her perfectly, no reason to change it.

    4. I kept the sculpt name of my first doll (Volks SD10 Kira). I bought her without much thought as to a character and once I saw her it seemed to fit the personality she ended up having so it stuck :) now I can't imagine changing it after so long

    5. Of all the dolls I plan to get, there is one of them that I plan to keep the sculpt name. I want to get an EID Dexter, and...he just looks like a Dexter to me XD So I plan to keep the name.

    6. I keep the sculpt names so I don't forget which doll it is.

    7. I try to give my dolls names that reflect the design I have in mind for them, but sometimes the sculpt's name sticks and it's hard to think of them as anything else. I've had success in renaming stubborn dolls to something similar to their sculpt name, though--my DZ Wendy and Dale are Wednesday and Daily, and my DZ Sis is Priscilla.

    8. I usually always keep their original names :XD: I don't know why but they sometimes sound better with them~

    9. I generally use the sculpt name until I get to know the doll. Once they have an aesthetic and a personality, they receive a proper name right quick.

    10. I get my dolls to shell roleplaying characters so that's where they get their names. I do have one doll, Mara (Doll Love Alina), whose sculpt name I may use for a character at some point, just because I like it. Sometimes they have such pretty names you just want to keep them.

    11. I'm horrible with coming up with names. My dolls right now don't really have names. When referring to them to other people I do say the sculpt name.

    12. It's more tempting to stick to a sculpt name, if it's an unusual one. For example, my nobilitdoll boy Ryoma's name is Adam, but my daughter somehow never picked up this name and still calls him Ryoma.

    13. Mostly I pick names to my dolls from my own head, but I never saw it odd to keep the sculpt name if you really like it, I mean, many of them have cute names already! And yes, I'm even planning to keep one sculpt name: I'm saving for Dollzone Annie-head, and I'm going to call her Anni (=finnish version of the name). I mean, it fits her, why change it? :3

    14. I really enjoy naming things... pets, kids, dolls... That said, I simply MUST rename my Supia Haeun, because I haven't a clue how to pronounce that name. ;)

    15. I had a real trouble with that when my DoD Ivan had arrived. Cause there was no such a name that would really fit him. Really, I did anything to choose his name, I read tonns of names on web-sites, I even wanted to call him London or May or something loke that... But no. He's Ivan. And that's all. And it's so strange to look at this sort of pathetic face and realize that it has a Russian simple name... Lol. Just lol.
I also have Realpuki Pupu whose name is Pupu. Cause it's nice. I can't imagine another name for him. : D

    16. I have never kept the sculpt name but...never say never!! I think I will keep my first MSD girl's sculpt name just because my mind is blank when I try to come up for a name...none of the names I think of seems to fit so for the mean time, I call her Serin (she's a Soom Serin).

    17. I have only one doll named as his sculpt, and is my Dikadoll Mian Mian. I tried to name him in other ways but Mian Mian was so cute and it simply stuck. Maybe the fact that he isn't a character doll helped keeping the sculpt name.

    18. I think names are really important, and by giving a doll a name myself, it makes it mine. So personally, I take giving dolls a new name really seriously.

    19. Before I had a name for my girl, I ended up referring to her by her sculpt name, that is, until I finally found the 'right' name for her [that is, when she got home].
I think that if I do end up with another doll, I wouldn't be against retaining his/her sculpt name if it does fit him/her.

    20. I give my own names all the time. I might refer to my dolls by their sculpt/company given name, but in that case it is the same to me as referring to them as "dolls".
