1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Have you ever kept the Sculpt Name as your Doll's Name?

Oct 28, 2009

    1. No, but I almost named my first doll after the mold, until I found her personality. (:

    2. I never keep the name the companies give them, but if I ever came across one that had a company name that just fit perfectly, I would.

    3. I kept my DOI Luke named luke without purposely planning on it ^^;

When I first got my Luke, I named him Alex, but that character didn't really work out, so I just started calling him by his mold name to distance myself from the doll to I could sell him.

Well, I really struggled to convince myself to sell him because I JUST got him, so I redeveloped the character when a friend convinced me to give him a second chance, and I kept trying to name him. Mostly trying the name "Christian" or "Chris" but it was just bleh. But I knew I wanted some kind of religious name, so I looked at Biblical names like...... Luke.
It worked out >3< and now he's my baby.

However, I do stress that I DID name my doll, I didn't not name him (that's a mouthful)

And he's about to change molds so he'll no longer has his mold name :p

    4. I usualy don't. But my Volks Kurumi's name is Kurumi UXD
At the begining she had another that I'd planed, but I started to call her Kurumi when I talked with my friends about hobby, volks and dollpas just for let them know what headmold she is. Finaly her original name was lost. But I love Kurumi. It suits her a lot!

    5. So far I haven't, I like to name them. But since my current collection isn't based on any of my characters - I could and would keep the mould name if I liked it enough. I'll always call my dolls by the mould names at some point though, sometimes it's just easier.

    6. No, never.. I usually think of the names before getting the dolls.. it would be very funny of I thought of a name and later get a sculpt with the same name though, but it never happened ;)

    7. out of mine, my Mom's, and my sister's dolls only four have names. One's named springy because she kicked a lot and we had more then one of the sculp, and our dollcatch benjamin and bellita are little grant and sleepy grant, because they look just like my brother grant when he was a baby, and dollcatch erenne has become aaron because we don't know how to say her sculp name.

    8. Nope, My doll has it's own name. Otherwise, everyone would have the same doll name if everyone used the original sculpt names.

    9. Once. My Souldoll Ize (became Tanso Ize) I kept his last name as "Ize," but when I retired one of my ooooold male dolls my Ize inherited that doll's last name (so he then became Tanso Jin).

    10. I have Iplehouse Tania and Tatiana and have kept their names. I ordered them with the factory face-up, and I think that influenced my decision to keep their names. If I did the face-up myself, I would probably name them. I am thinking of getting Yur, but I don't like that name...so we will see.

    11. hmmm... Does keeping my Catherine's name count? She's a Minimee Catherine Zeta Jones...

      >.>

      <.<

    12. So far I've found that if I don't eventually give them a name, then it probably means they're not staying. :sweat There's about 3-4 of them that are like that at the moment. I actually don't sell that many dolls though, so it's a little difficult.

    13. No, I haven't kept the mold names, ever. I like my dolls to have their own personalities to distinguish them from the default models. Or actually, to me, the names (and personalities) always exist before their doll forms, so it's kinda easy that way :)

    14. it seems like there's a pretty decent split between people who do & people who don't.

it appears that the people who do, either think of their dolls more as a 'fashion doll' sort of thing, or they just liked the sculpt name & felt like it fit. On the other hand, it seems that people who always create a name for their doll either have a 'character' assigned to their doll before they order it, or they really like to think of a character & personality for their doll.

Aaaaand, of course, there are all those people & dolls who are somewhere in-between! :)

    15. I actually thought about it, yes. I love the name Miho, aside from the fact that I love the mold of the same name, so logically I thought about naming one of my Miho twins, well .. Miho. But I decided on different names in the end that suited them a little better.
One of the twins I sometimes call Shiho though :XD: ..
At least it's similar, even if it has a totally different background.

    16. Well, I wanted my dolls to have a name of their own. The sculpts name I did use for their 'last name'. Licorice Liddell and Joachim Louis.

    17. My Reiko has kept her name. I just thought it was perfect already. She doesn't need to become any character because I felt she had so much character on her own.

    18. I have kept my Elfdoll Hyacinth as Hyacinth as that suits her perfectly!

    19. This is why I'm on my 4th doll and I STILL haven't settled on a name for my very first one that got me into this hobby! I have so much guilt because of this you have no idea XD While everyone else sits named D:

I love her sculpt name for her, Flowne it really really suits her T_T but I feel like she can't be fully mine until I find the perfect name and unfortunately....a year later.....still nothing. Ugh.

    20. My first two got temporary names because I didn't perceive them as looking Chinese. The next three I didn't change; for some reason the Asian sculpt names fit better. The sixth fit her sculpt name but the bonus head didn't have a name, so I have been kicking around several ideas. The seventh doll hasn't arrived yet, but I need a new name for him, something easy to pronounce, macho without crossing into B-movie and bodice-ripper hero territory. I have my work cut out for me. *sigh*
