1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

have you ever thought this?

Nov 28, 2012

    1. Every single time XD

    2. Every time I bought one!

    3. not exactly "this specific one is my last" but I had prepared a list of exactly which dolls I was going to buy, sell and keep. then I would not buy any more for at least a year, if not forever, but then two intruders slipped in <_<

    4. Not overall, but I've told myself I wouldn't buy anymore for a certain scale or doll and failed miserably. Right now I'm breaking my personal decision not to collect 1/6th scale.

    5. Yep,I said my first doll would be the only one I'll ever get and I said my second doll would be the last one I'll get and so on. This doll I have on pre-order really is the last one I'm going to get. For real this time..

    6. I have five on the wishlist...and I'm done. That's it, done!

    7. I'm done too, I think. I have got to stop buying dolls as therapy. They've taken over the house.

    8. Only about a gazillion times!!! :sweat

I obviously have NO planning skills or will-power when it comes to buying dolls... :|

(I thought my first would be my last... that was in 2004 and some 40 dolls ago...)

    9. I'm thinking that right now even though I know from others that there will probably be more!

    10. That seems to have happened quite often with me. ^^;
      First I had only one doll, then I saw a second one that was limited, so I had to make a quick decision. The third, fourth and fifth were kind of planned, because I wanted a third doll for the pair, the fifth was an event doll and at first the fourth was just to get the event doll really. After that it was 'good doll comes, good money goes', because I didn't make plans but just went along with what I liked best at the moment. Last year, after getting my 13th doll, I wanted to finish all my current dolls (the right wigs, eyes, styles, etc.) before even considering buying a new one. And so far, I haven't bought another one. But I think that'll change in a month or so, because I already have one in mind. ^^;

    11. hahahaha Yes, I have thought like that after buying about my last 4 dolls.
Every time I think "ok now after this one I will not buy more" but it never works out.
I had set a 10 doll limit for myself, now i own 14 full dolls and 3 floating heads.......

    12. Story of my life! A limit of three grew to six grew to ten grew to thirteen. :sweat I don't have any more dolls planned, and I want to finish the dolls I currently have before bringing more in. Volks, however... There are certain dolls that, if they get re-released, I'll be diving right in for, limit or no limit!

    13. Ugh, I've had this problem recently. I originally intended to sell all of my dolls and just buy one. But then that wasn't enough, and suddenly I wanted two, then three, and wanted to keep all the old dolls too! I've really got to think carefully about this, because while it's entertaining to think about, it's a serious investment that needs lots of considering before I dive in head first.

    14. Not really.
I HAVE thought "just this one doll this year" and epically failed on that one.
I have grail dolls and wish list dolls that if I ever can get, I will. I am happy with my current collection, but in no way do I ever see a set stopping point because they just keep releasing more wonderful dolls that I know I will want to have.

    15. I don't think I will ever think that! I started off thinking I was getting one and my favourite size was SD but my crew grew and now I hae Sds, MSDs, Yosds and even tines! And I don't see "family planning" anywhere in the near future!

    16. it almost happen to me every time before I decide to purchase an order... but after I receive it... hrmz......life is a cycle...dang

    17. I'm waiting for my first doll , a Soom Mega Gem Monzo, and I honestly am still making plans for him so we'll see what happens :)

    18. I have also been there. One became three, and then there was a floating head.....
At the moment I am waiting for the doll that will presumably be my last. Like Laoky said, I want to finish all my current dolls. And I really need to spend more time with the poor souls.

    19. 2006: "I will never be able to have even one doll."

2007: "Well, maybe if I take a second job and sell all of my Barbies, Bratz and action figures, I could get just one...."

April 2008: "Amir will be my only doll."

September 2008: "Amir needs just one friend. He and Loki are it. No more."

December 2008: Family gives me a doll for the holidays.

2009: "I will allow myself a total of 6 dolls. No. More!!"

      2010: "Ok, 13. No more."

      2011: "26. That's IT!! NO. MORE!"

2012: "Well.....my couples might want kids. So....26 original dolls, 13 children of the originals."

2013: "Danielle is off-topic and not resin, so she technically doesn't count......Finn isn't resin or strung, so he doesn't count....Xerxes is a pet, so he doesn't count either......If I can find my grail doll, he doesn't count because chances of me actually getting him are a million to one.....So...39 total, but non-resin, pets, and grail don't count."

Seven years. Zero limit to um......30+ dolls? Yes, it happens.

    20. Hahahahahahahah.

I haven't thought it, but I've considered the concept.

I like the idea of not buying anymore dolls, I really do! But I know it won't happen until I'm ready. While I still visit this forum and the other one, and while I still derive so much pleasure from little silly things like browsing for new ones, designing characters, sewing and painting for them, it's just not the right time. I know I won't collect forever, far from it! I'm sure that in a few years I really just won't have the inclination to keep buying new dolls, and certainly by the time I'm ready to start a family. This hobby is time sensitive for me, and knowing that I allow myself to consider the time when I will know I'm well and truly finished collecting, because it will (for me) also mean that I'm ready to sell up the ones it wouldn't break my heart to part with and quit for good.
