Have your doll plans ever been "eclipsed"?

It happens alot! Mine own experience was kinda backwards - saw a Luts DarkElf Soo on ebay, went gimmee-gimmee-want-want! Got outbid then spotted DZ Cherry. Went Ooooooo and got her. While being xtreeemly happy with my choice, I put up a WTB in the marketplace, waited, lost all hope and started saving to buy a DES from Luts. On the day I decided to go the whole hog another DOA member PM'd me - with a DES for sale!! I said yes, (it was actually more like YEEEEESSSS!!!! ) Now I must wait..........

 

I've had my set backs mainly because of money problems, a friend i talked to was selling her AoD Zi Yuan and we had agreed on a price of around 200.oo so I could pay it off slowly. but I eventually never got her because I had the offer of a car to buy and I had college to pay off.

I don't regret the fact that I got a car instead of the doll but now i'm back into the saving up enough money for a doll. I'm looking into another AoD doll because I like the sculpts they have there.

 

Oh, yes~

I was absolutely lusting after a Tan version 1 SA Saint, and then after saving up for over six months, almost having enough to get him... They go and change his sculpt, and then apparently discontinue him. :B

Then I was contemplating getting a blue Bobobie Appolo to ease the UTTER WANGST of loosing out on getting an 'absolute dream dorrie!' forevur, as I was also fangirling over the sculpt and had a great idea about what to do with him, but I then had to go falll head-over-heels in love with this random, crazy anime character, and at that moment absolutely HAD to make a doll of him...

So, the money that was going to be my blue Bobobie of wangst turned into an Elfdoll SS-K head. Which made me happier then one could ever imagine, but then made me feel guilty over being less BAWWWWW over missing my chance at Saint.

And now I get to have the fun fickle time constantly changing my mind about what body to get, while waiting on the company I've 'decided on buying from' to have one of their many sales. XD

Oh, this hobby is such fun~ 8U

 

LOL, I thought my first doll would be a Camine. Then, it was a Hound. A Hound or a DOT boy, that was the only option.

...somehow I have myself a Narae and a Domuya girl... *shrugs fickle-ly*

As long as you end up totally in love with your dolls, I don't know that it matters whether you drool over them for months or a day.

 

For a while I was oggling a KD Ani, but then I discovered Puki's and I instantly fell for them; to the point of designing tiny cosplay clothes for her A few weeks later, and I found DoC Kirill and (after a long internal debate) I figured, If I can only get one doll this year, I'd rather it'd be him. So that's what I'm aiming for (for now...)

I was looking at Iplehouse and the split second I saw Dark Cocori, I was like, "I must buy her : :! ".
But seeing that N Cocori is being released soon, I want to put D.Cocori on hold and get N.C 1st. I didn't go "ZOMG LOVE" at N.C straight away,like I did with D.C, but oh well--I want them both

 

Yeah, I was all set to save up for a Buddydoll Tough Mars to keep my Sooah company, and then I changed my mind and decided I just wanted one doll to spoil. Tried to resist the idea of a companion for a while, and now I'm in love with the idea of a freckly ws bobobie sprite to be her little friend. I just really like the idea of a younger doll that can sit in her lap for pics, LOL. : P

 

Yes - many times. Poor Catsy got bumped off the top of the tinies list repeatedly by the latest irresistable tiny. But my paranoia about her possibly being discontinued plus the luck of running into an in-stock Catsy at Junkyspot finally brought Catsy home. Soon after, she was discontinued.

I also got derailed from getting a Unoa in the past (couldn't justify the expense on top of what else I had bought) but I finally managed to do get my Unoa.

Yes. The plans were that the next doll I got would be a SD sized boy, but as of right now I've fallen for YoSDs, so the boy doll is going to have to wait a bit longer.

 

Oh yeah. That's how I ended up with half my dolls, who were more or less unplanned. >_< I was saving for a different doll when I bought a Juri06 head as a "practice head" since they were selling for a pretty inexpensive price at the time. Then I had an opportunity to go in on a split order for a DoD girl I'd been wanting, so the original doll got pushed back again. Then the MNF Elf Shiwoos were released as a limited, and I had to postpone the purchase another time. I eventually changed my plans, and still haven't gotten that doll.

I've also been trying to save for a particular doll since the beginning of the year, but rare opportunities to buy limited out-of-stock/secondhand-only items (mostly Dollheart Fers) keep popping up. Then there was a Minimee group order that I had to jump in on or I'd miss the opportunity to get that celebrity entirely. After that, my dream doll went up for sale, so the vast majority of my doll funds will be going to pay him off for a while. Eventually I will get the girl I've been saving for... but it seems like "now or never" opportunities keep eclipsing that purchase for now.

Also... about how impulse buys affect bonding with the doll: I have completely bonded with all my "eclipsing" purchases save one. (And the reason for that was that I tried to shoehorn her into a character that she just didn't fit... it just went downhill from there). So my chances of liking the doll don't seem to be affected by whether it's a planned purchase or an impulse buy.

 

yes once but I ended up getting my second choice instead because i was impatient and my first choice was only availbel in japan...

 

Oh yeah. Shushu was mine, too- she's still my ultimate dolly goal, but I got impatient and got my Sprite girl, whom I adore, instead of waiting and getting Shushu. And then I ordered my puki instead of saving up one more measly hundred dollars for Shushu. But she's for sure up next, no matter what!

 

Yes. By a trip to Austin to meet Lanie and go to Kerby Lane Doll Shop. Most likely will be coming home with another boy after that.

 

Happens ALL the time ahahahahah. I was saving up bits by bits for my Narin Charisma, when some twist of events happened and I, somehow, got a bunch (yes, a bunch) of other dollies instead. It took me almost two years before I finally (had the courage to) bought my dream doll.

Now it's just the battle of the heads xD; I wanted an AiL Bertram for a few months already, but I like Glorydoll Louis as well. And I got the chance to order the Louis head first, oh well. I just hope that the heads in my wishlist don't turn to limited, suddenly. And oh, I WAS supposed to get an Sdelf Abadon first. Talk about poor planning and mentality ORZ

 

I was going to buy a dollfie dream next....but I am putting it off to get a Volks Full Choice System first at the New York Dolpa. (also I pushed some characters aside...due to realizing they were not important enough to me to spend almost $1000 on each of them....)

 

I am so fickle it isn't funny D: For a long time, I've wanted an Abio Angel Yi, and now I MUST HAVE a CP Delf Shiwoo. He was my first love when I got into this hobby, and even though he's expensive, I really do want him. I won't change my mind again! I can't! Because I love him so much, I will stay faithful to my decision ...unless things don't work out and I have to buy his head and a temporary Fantasy Doll body :P

 

Ohh I remember when I was trying all I could to get a CP Nanuri 07 and SS Lishe...
And when I was saving for Dolkot Day...I very very nearly spent his funds on a sleeping boy (I can't even remember what sculpt the poor lad was now, it was quite a new company)

And now my current plan is Migidoll Miho in May xD!

 

Oh yes, by nearly every doll I see. I am so fickle that even when I think I've found a doll I'm in love with, inside I know that I'll look back in a week or so the sparkle will be gone.

My second doll (Lu-Wen) nearly eclipsed my first (Soo-Ri). I ended up getting both and am now selling my Lu-Wen .
