Have your doll plans ever been "eclipsed"?

Thats how I felt about both Sparrow and Seville (Juri 05 and Topaz Honeydew.) Both were going to be totally different molds, but when I really looked at the molds they are now and said, to hell with it, I want the more expensive ones. Seville even beat out far more important characters to me to become in doll form. I just loved her mold.​

 

It happens to me fairly often, because there are a number of limited sculpts I like. Those tend to get priority simply because I'd rather pay retail for them than secondary market prices if possible.

That is what happened to me and the Blue Fairy Louis I never seem to make up my mind to buy.

I wanted Louis at first, then I ended up buying Tommy. Then I wanted Louis again but Blue Fairy was closed since Christmas. I got two new Pukis instead... and.. I still wanted Louis but ... I am now paying off a MNF Luka. >.>

 

To me it happends all the time. I blame Soom for it.
Usually when the doll that I planned is not limited, I put it on my wishlist and I will get it later. And go for the ZOMG I MUST HAVE doll.

 

Sort of, yeah ^_^ I was planning to get a body for my floaty head next, but I got the chance to bring one of my grail dolls home, so... my floaty head is still floaty... I feel sorry about it. My mum always asks on the phone if he's got a body yet! XD

 

I've wanted a Petsha since February. Really wanted one, but since now and then, I've bought a Delf/Feeple hybrid, two MiniFees, an IpleHouse J.I.D. and a Soom Glot. None of them I wanted before a Petsha.

And the worst thing is... I still want a Petsha.

 

I squee'd when Fairyland released their Littlefees and I saw Littlefee Shiwoo with his cute little cat costume on. I was very close to ordering him in February... then Soom released teaser pictures of Glot and Glati and I immediately forgot all about Littlefee Shiwoo as I knew I wanted at least a Glati since I missed out on buying Sard the year before. I know it sounds bad, and I still love how poseable Littlefees are, but I'm loving my Glati right now so I guess I'm not too upset that I didn't manage to buy a Shiwoo ^^

 

I've been saying that I'd have a full doll by the end of the year for three years now...Sadly, it still has not happened.

Random things tend to get in the way and I see that its one thing right after the other, or I prefer things like food and light over a doll body; which is justified, I should think.

 

Initially I had planned to get a BBB Ariel (JS Exclusive) as my first (Partially cause I love the head sculpt, partially cause it's inexpensive as far as BJDs go). But then at some point I decided to get an Obitsu SD instead and DID infact get that doll...So then I planned to get the Ariel as my second, but the more I looked at the body the less I liked it. SO I have decided to get a Resinsoul Ju instead of the Ariel (She'll fit the character better anyway).
I wont disclude the possibility of getting a Ariel HEAD at a latert date and a differant body...but not anytime soon...atleast according to my plans!

 

It's completely understandable when I was new to the bjd scene, I just fell in love with everything, it seem mostly with the youthful almost childish faces with somewhat mature bodies lol after awhile I began to develop a more particular taste, more mature, yet youthful, faces with long, shapely, mature bodies. If it's not something limited or rare, then I'd say wait a tad and just keep saving, even it it's over what your saving for in the end when you decide. Cause, if you don't like the limited ones you can sell it back for more decent pricing and I find that some molds I wasn't interested in at first is what I seem to love the most now. When you see owner pics of custom face-up pics of the molds your interested in, whether mildly or really, you'll get a real perspective on what you want.

 

Human Heliot. I want him soooooo bad right now. Or Chrom. But that's not even close to my spending amount so it's out of the question. I'm supposed to buy MNF Miyu or Leekeworld Lana, but my love for big boys is creeping up behind me. I feel torn, because I originally wanted an Unoa, which is also 800 dollars, so it's no choice for me that I'd rather have a Heliot or Chrom from Soom.

 

I think this has happened to me..though it's actually been in where to buy my wigs/eyes/clothes/accessories from. I'm kind of obsessive when it comes to researching (I'm planning on buying my first doll soon) and I want it to be perfect. As for dolls, I think I have it narrowed down...but who knows. I might find something better in a day and it might fit my characters better then a DZ Mo.

That happened for my third doll I was originally set on a littlefee but after a lot of talking with my mom it was decided that I would get another puki.

 

I did this with my first doll, a Soulkid Yewon. Originally I had been planning to get a Soulkid Linn, and I planned and planned for weeks trying to make sure she was the right mold for me. I thought I was ready to order and at the last minute, changed my mind to Yewon. I spent several weeks searching for Linn pictures and details and anything I could...and spent maybe one or two days doing that for Yewon. In retrospect, I think it was a poor move which could have been disastrous, but I was lucky and my Yewon is all I could have asked for. She fits the character I had in mind so much better than Linn ever could have. So sometimes it works out, but I don't think I'd take a gamble like that again. It was a pretty rash decision, I'm just glad it worked out in the end.

I ordered a DOC recently and then I was looking around other doll sites for wigs and shoes.

I started to realize how pretty KDFs are...

I also used to doubt myself as I saw a DOT and stuff. Oh well. I can only hope I made the right decision

 

oh my goodness.. this happens to me a lot. I'll be ready to buy the doll i've been planning for..then BOOM i see another doll that is just MUST HAVE. So I get them both xD..

 

That happened to me today actually. I had every intention of saving up for a Crobidoll Lance to be my second doll, then I saw the Leekeworld L-type Kyle and I was like 'omg, must buy now!' So I still want a Lance eventually, but Kyle is going to come first.

 

I've been planning to get a BBB/RS Jun in blue resin since... probably late February/early March of this year. Then I found the doll that would become Kijika and discovered that he was a limited doll and there were only 3 left and of the 3, only one had a face-up.

I bought Kijika instead of Jolen (the Jun doll) and said to myself I would have Jolen as my next doll purchase for my birthday.

While planning for Jolen, his lover popped into my head and I made a mental note to keep on the look-out for a doll that would suit Kysmirhea. I was browsing a new doll site I discovered (thank you Google!) and couldn't help but click on the link for the dolls on the site.

That's when I saw Kys.

There was something about specials for July and I wrote to ask if the doll I wanted was a special or would always be offered. They wrote back and said when the dolls were gone, that was it and that they had 2 left.

I bought Kys and pushed back Jolen's purchase yet again *sigh*.

I plan to buy Jolen around Xmas time and that should work out this time as all the other dolls I plan to purchase are standard dolls and are available at any time. At least that's the plan *crosses fingers*.

 

Haha, not quite so strongly, but it has happened to me. Often it's another doll that I was planning on getting at a later date. Something makes me fall in love with them all over again while I'm saving for another one and guess who ends up coming home XD It's usually not super-far into my saving, and I don't feel very guilty since I still plan on getting the one I had been saving for later.
