1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Have your doll plans ever been "eclipsed"?

Mar 8, 2008

    1. Always ^^'

The last time : I planned to buy a MSD Musedoll (Phaï or App)... I started to save for them... And I bought a Mini-Roseanne Planetdoll (but that's not my fault, there was an event ^^')...

    2. This happened recently with me. I had planned to order a specific character next. I kept telling myself, "Larten is my next doll, no one else until Larten!" Well........ I finnaly found a Fullset Flora (which has been sold out since March) and........ **looks at sig** See who I'm waiting on now?

I think BJDs are like childen. You plan to do things, plan to get specific ones at specific times. But Limited and rare dolls are like the "oops!"-es. You don't plan them, but they happen.

    3. I've started looking at getting a tiny seriously, and was eyeing either B&G's tinies or Dollzone's. Then Soom came along distracted me with baby unicorns.

    4. X3 Yep.
When I first started looking at dolls, I thought my first ones were going to be MSDs from Dollzone. Then I looked around more, found other sculpts that I liked and then decided to bring an OC to life. So I started planning him and everything I'd get to complete the character. Then we insert some more looking, adding more dolls to my wishlist, and then we stop at Soom. ...Oh, to be mentally Soom'd XD" So I decided to get my priorities straight and first planned to truly be Soom'd in the future.

And now my wishlist & plans are in my signature ^^ My real list has to be seriously overhauled and be brought up do date. But I know that I'll still be after the first dolls I wanted XD Nothing will change that.

    5. Well, its kinda when you fall for a doll, you fall for a doll, it happend me like 4 times already, each time for each of my boys XD
But yah I save patiently for a doll, or i wish for certain one, but sometimes when i saw A OMG WHAT A DOLL, i have to buy it in a hurry! XD
My wishlist changes cuz my several crushes, like one replaces another, =3 But you dont need to feel guilty.

    6. I was thinking about getting a girl for my boy, I bounced from Orientdoll Cheong to Soom Mini Gem Uyoo, to Resinsoul Lan. I was about to order Lan, but I took another look at Uyoo's face sculpt and decided I HAD to have her.

    7. I dont think that has happened to me..yet. One thing I have learned in this hobby is to never say never lol

If it did happen though I would not feel guilty though more then likely they would just be bumped down on my wish list but still be on there.

    8. I still have my heart set on Lusis and Narae, but as soon as I set eyes on the Leeke Pumpkin I knew I had to have her NOW. So I'm saving for her right now.

And then I realized why I loved Bernard so much, so he's next in line. :)

    9. This happens to me pretty frequently and for this reason I make myself wait at least a month after really liking a doll before I buy one. Of course if I am saving up for a doll, that's usually a good indication that I have waited more than a month.

    10. I seem to get that a lot lately... except that I do not have the money xP

That's why I stopped trying to find out who I was getting next.... and only thought to save the money first, and then think about it =P

    11. I was supposed to order a doll in the very near future but I instantly fell in love with School C last week and immediately bought a head. :XD: So much for plans!

This has already happened to me before but I already had the dolls. I planned on having a few SD13 boys and only one girl. I got my first boy and then my first girl came along! She had everything...multiple outfits, wigs, eyes, shoes, accessories etc. and my boy had very little clothing and no shoes. I just didn't have the feelings for him that I thought I would because I loved my girl so much. I ended up selling him and getting another girl. :sweat

    12. For my first doll, that happened. After staring at Yder, fawning over Yder, angsting over the money for Yder, planning the character for Yder... I saw Tensiya's Tanned Hound IM, which was about as far from a girly Luts boy as you could get at that time. I wanted him so bad I posted a WTB after finding out that he was sold out the moment I had enough money for him.

Subsequently, I did get a Yder... he's known as Emergency Funds.

    13. Helloo!
I am sort of new to the hobby, I've only had my first doll for about 6 months and I want to buy her a friend, and I'm totally set on the sculpt I want, but it's a little out of my budget.... And just recently I've found another doll I really like, and it's a smaller size and closer to what I can afford....

My questions is: Should I go for the impulse-ish buy and get the doll I can afford, or should I stick it out and save up for the doll I've been eyeing for months without coming any closer to buying him?

    14. It's up to you but most people would agree that in the long run, you'd be much happier if you get a doll you REALLY want rather than a second-best doll. The wait will be worth it. :)

    15. I'd recommend that you save up the extra and buy the doll you really want :)

    16. I'm an impulse buyer myself, but saving for one that you really want is probably the wise thing to do. ;)

    17. Yes, try to save up. I waited six months for one of my first dolls and was so impatient just to have a doll that I bought a couple of inexpensive dolls from the MP on impulse. The dollars add up and so do dolls! Now I want to thin out my collection.

But on the other hand, one of the impulse buys is now one of my favorite dolls. A strange Gabriel from Doll Leaves that I just love because she has lots of attitude.

    18. I've done the impulse buy thing a couple times, and both of those dolls got sold on. Save up for the one you really want!

    19. I had a plan of which dolls I was going to get. The plan hasn't gone to plan. While waiting for my SD's body to arrive I had an opportunity to get a Yo-sd and I went for it, and I'm glad I did. Although I don't have favourites I do love him and he changed the course of the story I was creating for my dolls so I'm glad I got him. Since then several dolls have jumped the queue and they've all been welcome.

It is possible to want more than one sculpt at once and so long as you don't mean to limit your collection that's fine. In this hobby people often advise that you don't settle, that you get the doll you really want. But if you really want the affordable doll and the more expensive doll isn't going anywhere, I say go for it!

    20. i would say it depends as well. i have a general plan for the dolls that i want to get and the order i would like to get them in, but i have brought home dolls out of order when one of the dolls further on my list became available at a really good deal, for a limited time only, or in a limited skin tone. i have had a couple of impulse purchases that i regretted and so re-homed or will probably rehome, but on the whole most of the time i've been happy with my dolls. if neither of the dolls are limiteds or one of a kind offers, take a bit of time to make sure you really like both, then maybe put part of the money towards your dream doll and use the rest to get the other? (even if you have to save a bit longer till you have enough to do that) that way you won't feel like you are starting from scratch in saving for the more expensive one.

if one or the other is a limited offer try to think how you would feel if you missed it forever and use that to gauge whether or not you need to bring it home. sometimes i can tell in my dithering whether i'm really upset at the thought of missing out, or would just shrug and say "oh well, next time/next doll" if i missed it, then i know not to bother.
