1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Have your tastes changed since you first started the hobby?

Oct 24, 2014

    1. My tastes have definitely changed from what they used to be. I used to like gothic looking dolls a lot. I still like them but now my taste is a lot more diverse.
The sculpts I like now are more realistic compared to what I used to prefer.

    2. My taste in dolls have changed a lot in the past year or so now. I've been in the hobby for a whole 10 years now.
My first doll was a gift from my mom I loved my kid delf bory but always wanted a more mature boy for my oc. About two or three years later I sold him and bought a littlefee ante. Big big big mistake. She sat in her box for over 5 years... I kept trying to bond with her until I realized it was her size, pointy hands and default face up. I bought two minifees, a girl and a boy. Loved the girl HATED the boy... Then I got so fed up with the whole hobby that I tried selling all of my dolls. For a few years I wanted a Lati doll but always found their price a little high, when I was just about to sell my last doll, I found an awesomely priced Lati yellow. I had to have her, so I bought her and have been reborn into the hobby. It took me years n years to figure out that I hate fairyland... And that I actually don't like their joints or dolls. It took getting a different company to realize that I like simple dolls and heavier dolls. I also love the Lati size. (Which I did own a pukifee Bonnie but didn't like all her joints). I just started looking at Yosd size dolls AGAIN! This time I took 2 months of staring at Yosd size dolls from all kinds of different companies to figure out that I like anime kinda looking dolls. Which I totally thought I was more of a realistic kinda girl.
So I bought a volks Yosd. And I also just bought my first anthro which I never thought I'd buy a frog anthro, but it really spoke to me.

I have thought about going back to fairyland but I just can't stand the price and hype over them. I'm so happy I have found different company's for dolls and have fallen in love all over again with the hobby.

I always thought more joints n possibility was what I wanted... I think I am far from that. Simple joints, chibi looking kiddos are totally my thing. Lol if only I would have known two years ago or even longer then that. My collection would be much bigger.

    3. Oh yeah, bigtime.

I used to be really into more stylized sculpts, and mostly minis. Then I got more into the realistic sculpts, and nabbed up a couple of Iplehouse girls. Now I'm leaning back towards stylized, and vinyl rather than resin because I found that I hesitate to do anything with my resin dolls out of fear that something will happen to them.

I still love all my resin dolls -- stylized, realistic, doesn't matter. I'll never sell them. I love them too much. But right now I need some dolls I can play with less carefully :P

    4. Yep, my tastes have changed quite a lot since I started in the hobby.
I started owning very realistic sculpt, mostly minis.
Now I am being tempted a lot by Yo-SDs and little anthro dolls.

    5. My taste changed so much since approximately 8 years ago when I discovered the hobby... At first I got into pullip dolls which to this day, I have to admit I still find quite cute. Then I stumbled upon Elfdoll Twiggy Yumi, Iplehouse, and casual-style bjds. Now I am into 65-70cm range dolls, with extremely realistic & mature features, & clothing wise I prefer mature dolly over casual ^_^

    6. I would say so, but I've mostly been window shopping for several years. I was drawn to 1/3 the most, but now I like 1/4. I guess most get drawn toward the tinies :P

    7. I don't think my taste has changed hugely.

However, I remember having zero interest in male bodies with lots of definition or thickness. The first mature boy I bought was about the smoothest male body I could find, and that was really still too defined for me. I'm still not a fan of crazy vascularity, but I can much better appreciate the thicker sculpts now.

I also originally had no interest in anything smaller than an SD. I've since seen quite a few smaller dolls, and I find them charming. I'd like to own a Dollmore Sona someday.

Finally, my tolerance for raschel lace on doll clothes has gone way, way down.
