How did you discover the BJD hobby?

Apr 8, 2011

1. I saw awesome pictures of them on deviantart.

2. exgirlfriends.

3. I fell in love with BJD's by both Deviantart and my friend's when she brought it to be a model for her art project :D

4. I'm sure this happened to a lot of us doll collectors.
But I first saw one at a anime convention. And when I pointed it out, my sister told me she had a friend who was into them.
So she told me what they were called, and that was all she wrote. Lol.

5. I first found them out on a magazine which is about Anime&Comics. I was 14 that time and fell in love with them. Until 2009,when I was a sophomore at college, I owned my first BJD.

6. A few years ago, through my interest in manga/anime, I started collecting Figma's en nendoroids (pose able anime/manga actionfigurines). Through the sites I found them on I found Pullips and started with those too. A lot of pictures of the Pullips are found on Flickr and on the forums and that's where I found BJD's.
To be honest, BJD's first freaked me out a bit, but after looking at the pictures more and more I fell in love with these resin dollies [IMG]

7. At an anime convention I saw Guy with an awesome, huge, action figure (this turned out to be a bjd) and after a fruitless conversation of asking what they were and how much it costed, I was forced to go without for a year. Then at a mall I saw a magazine that caught my attention (Haute Doll). After flipping through it and not finding any thing really interesting I finally came to the back of the book and found the little critters! I They were bjds from Soom. I bought the book and ran with it!! Lol. Within 2 weeks of research and comparing I bought my first bjd from DOD and have been happy since!!

8. When I met my best friend (Ballet) I learned she collected them. I thought they were really nice but I was a bit off put by the price but then she got a dollfactory pet ari Kiki and it was love at first sight. I've been wanting one since then and now I finally purchased three dolls (I've been saving up for a long time lol) and I can't wait for them to come home.

9. I didn't know ANYTHING about them and actually thought they were kind of creepy when my friend mentioned them. But then she showed me some of hers (she has 14 I think...) and I realized some of them are really beautiful! The more research I did I saw there were sooo many I wanted to own! I narrowed it down to one I could afford and a face I liked but my list keeps growing and growing. There are so many dolls I would love to own but I found I have the most expensive taste because all of the ones I like are really pricey! LOL:lol:

10. I saw these awesome outfits on Ebay and given the prices and how intricate the designs were, it took me a bit to realize the models were dolls. I was immediately intrigued.

11. When I was a wee child of 14 or 15 on deviantART, I saw some Dolfie photographs on the popular deviations page, and was intrigued -- until I Googled it and saw the price tags! At that point I didn't realise that Dolfie was just a company, so I gave up on every owning any dolls and decided to just admire them from afar.

Fast forward 6 years to the present, since having other friends in the hobby and learning a lot more about what the hobby is about, and options for affordable dolls. Now I've purchased my first doll, a Resinsoul Bei, and eagerly await its arrival.

12. I was about 12 (I am 15 now) and I saw a picture on deviantART of a volks dd. I fell in love with the anime style and from there started looking at volks...Not a very interesting story but yeah that's how I got into the hobby!! :)

13. Well I'm a doll and toy junky at heart, so while watching videos on YouTube for Legos and vinyl toys I happen upon a video of a woman describing her doll. I fell in love instantly! At the size and the details in the dolls that I just had to have one or so I thought only one... And I've never been happier with my new hobby!

14. I found BJD's through photos on Google and Flickr.
I was looking up the lawsuit between Mattel (Barbie) and MGA (Bratz) and, to make a long story short, I ended up finding Liv, Monster High, Pullip, and (eventually) BJD's.
The first two most adorable and cute BJD's I saw (that I also really wanted to get) were two Fairyland RealPuki BJD's. They were in a photo with a custom Monster High Ghoulia, and I loved them. I didn't know what they were, but someone had commented that they liked the RealPukis. I looked them up and discovered they were Kaka and Soso, and now I have Kaka! :aheartbea
How I discovered my most pretty (and 1st :)) BJD, the first Delilah Noir, was by looking for pictures of Monique wigs for my Pullips. I saw this pretty doll modeling a wig on a website, and the person who is selling them (thankfully!) listed what dolls were modeling the wigs!
Now I have looked through some BJD websites and have my eye on quite a few... but to afford them is another story. *_*

15. I forgot how I found them when my dad asked me, and said I found them through deviantart. I was realy sad that i couldn't remember... then i looked though my phone's notes and found "Volks Inc. Bjd."
I wrote that down when i was visting NYC and went to a Japanese fashion exhibit at the FIT museum. Then... i remembered EVERYTHING.
I was 13 years old and walking around the exhibit, then I saw this huge doll thing. I called my sister over super excited and she was like... okay creepy and walked away. I was so intrigued i typed what was on the label below it and saved it as a note on phone. When i got home i typed in Volks bjd and BAM. I was in the doll world. Sorta.
I was just aware of them now, and Volks had cool stuff because i was a complete newb, but i wasn't aware that other doll companies existed. Then, not much later i was watchign a live stream from one of the artists i watch on dA, and she was on the Luts site.
From then on i was vigorously searching sites for the doll the spoke to me, and eleven months later, i got my first doll :whee:
Teehee.

16. It was 2 years ago. I saw (I think you know about them) famous Paranoia Dolls. They were so beautiful. I save pictures with them on my computer and admired their. Then I found site of Dollmore. But I didn`t like them.
Then I knew about their beautiful dolls: sites, molds, skintones etc.
And now I am here and now I saving up for my first doll.:)

17. I'm on a knitting/crocheting website called Ravelry, and while looking at pictures in a doll clothes group I saw a picture of two Fairyland Littlefees. I thought that they were the most beautiful dolls that I had ever seen, and began to try to find out information about them. When I found out the price, at first I nearly died of sticker shock! But now I think that they're totally worth it - even though I've never even held a BJD - and hope to get one sometime!

18. I've always liked dolls and a few of my friends had gotten a few and had put pictures up so I looked them up...and well, that's pretty much it :P

19. I discovered them in 2008, through a magazine called Shojo Stars. I really wanted one, but I didn't bother doing any research cause I didn't think I'd ever be able to afford one... I think the magazine made them seem a little more expensive than they actually are.

20. OK,started with Barbie to stuffed animals{As a kid}.Got older and out of both{As early teen}.Then found Liv Dolls,got interested in customization them{The detachable wigs}.Looked Liv Dolls up online.Fond Pullips{As teen}.Through getting into Pullips i found BJD's.

I found them out in 2011...i think.

But i saw one in far distance at 2010 in my local mall.I had NO flipping idea what it was.My friend, her mom,and i all where talking about it,while in line to meet Twilight's Mr.Carlisle Cullen{Peter Facinelli}.They where taking a picture with their SD boy and him.LOL,ironic right?

And once i found out about BJD's i then knew why she would take her doll to meet him, lol{Actually i have no idea still}.But if i had my doll then i do it too!Two of my biggest obsessions Twilight&BJDS!!!
