It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. How did you discover the BJD hobby?

Apr 8, 2011

    1. Honestly, I think all I did was browse flickr a little, and I saw a lot of BJDs in the "explored" sections. At first I thought they were really creepy, but the more i looked at them and the more sculpts I saw, the prettier they were. Then I decided I might get one, and I looked around. At first I was totally turned off by the price, but I couldn't stop thinking about them, so I started doing some research. Finally I got so hooked I just knew I had to get one. I'm saving up for a Minifee Chloe right now. ^^

    2. Two words: Danny Choo

    3. I was looking for shoes for Blythe and ebay and came across Volks dolls. I fell in love with them. That started the new addiction.

    4. i discovered bjd on flickr, i was looking also for photos of pullips then i saw some bjd,. at first i was really hesitant about them coz i dont know what kind of dolls but then after searching i fell in love and got my first ever bjd:)..

    5. I kept seeing BJDs at Animazement every year. People would carry them around with them and some would have dolls for sale at certain tables in the Artist's Alley. Then there was also the dealer in the Dealer's Room with all those dolls... But I was so nervous about knocking over those dolls that I never got too close. After seeing all these dolls though I started looking up information about them online because I became very curious about them. That's when I decided that I wanted a BJD. There were so many different dolls and I loved how customizable they were so I got one as a Christmas present a few years ago. Since then I've gotten a few more and I love all of them so much! :)

    6. I read about them years ago in a magazine, when the whoe thing was still really new. and then some years later a fiend got her first one as treat, after passing her university. (she has seven dolls now)
last year I started myself with a Dollzone Brent and soon after a Dikadoll summer!
Now I'm spying on Dollshe Saint and Ninodoll Bada (I really want them badly XD)

as i was growing i start deviantarting ;3 and start finding more images

expensive or not >.< i didnt want to regret my firSt doll
and in then end ~ yes ^__^ it was all good

she is still my first and only doll for now
but i cant help myself with knowing and learning more
about dolls ~ here on den of angels <3

    8. I saw them at an anime and video games convention and thought they were creepy at first. However, I looked them up on the internet and fell in love. Then I went to a BJD panel a couple of years later to see if I liked them and I did. So now I have finally got a good paying job and have ordered my first one.

    9. I saw my first bjds at Acen about ten years ago. I never thought I would have the money, so I "researched" them and collected tons of pictures for about five years before I finally got my own :D

    10. I came across luts dolls just by chance and was smitten but I've waited a while to get my first :)

    11. I remember looking at bjds on flikr years and years ago. Then I got seriously into fashion doll collecting. Three years ago I saw some more pictures and an article in a Haute Doll magazine and was directed to doll pedlar. Not long after that I bought my first bjd off doll pedlar. But it's only been the last year that I've gotten more obsessed with bjd's then with fashion dolls.

    12. I was doing an art portfolio type thing and I wanted it to involve dolls and broken dolls so I was doing a google search for inspiration when I accidentally stumbled on a really beautiful doll (at the time I had no clue that BJDs existed) and I clicked it and then did a search for BJDs since I didn't have a clue what it meant then I just fell in love and have wanted one since. But at the time I wasn't in a place where I could afford one since I had moved out of my parents place and was living with my boyfriend at the time and his family so I had board to pay with no job and I was still in high school. As a result I've only started actually planning the purchases this year now that I'm in a place where I can almost start to save for my first one and I've learnt so much since then.

    13. I was just a kid when I got into the comic Naruto. Eventually I stopped caring for it and moved on. Fast forward a bit. I occasionally ran across pictures of BJDs on DeviantART some 5 years ago so ever since I joined an art community, I knew they existed but I never really cared for them (didn't even bother to find out what they were called), as pretty as they were. It wasn't until a horrible life changing experience happened, resulting in PTSD, that I picked up the series again and lost myself in it. I noticed Deidara and ended up really liking the character and eventually researching Superflat. Lets just say I grew up a lot thanks to the art movement. The important thing though, was that the character Deidara would help snap me back to reality and force me to think logically. I needed to see or be reminded of him when I start to panic so I ended up buying a ton of merchandise and I noticed that there isn't a good figure of him. xD I then remembered these dolls and looked around DA to see if I could find them again and now here I am. lol I know I sound totally unstable but the fact of the matter is, because of Deidara and because of Superflat, I'm able to be more stable and more normal than I was before.

    14. I was at the anime convention "Animazement" when I first saw several people carrying around these awesome dolls. I was too shy to just walk up and ask what they were so asked my good friend and anime pal at work the next week. He told me what they were. So two years later a vendor was at Animazment that sold ResinSoul dolls. I bought my Lian and some clothes for her. I now have a whole family (mostly cat anthros...about 17) because of that encounter. (Thank you Ban_Sidhe for letting your wonderful LillyCat Eugenie join the family this weekend!!)

Little Appple Dolls! Me too! I have six that I purchased in 2005-2006. They are wonderfully creepy!

    15. I did not see your post before I posted!! HEHE! Looks like Animazement and other conventions are responsible for more than a few new bjds owners!!

    16. I was looking on the internet for kawaii things and rement and then photos of Azone dolls came up, I thought how lovely are they! I then looked into it a bit further, found out about Flickr and well....then I was hooked :)

    17. I readed about BJD in a Anime magazine sinds then i was sold.

    18. I saw a girl walking around with a BJD at the mall one day. We were in Claire's, and she was like holding various pieces of merchandise up to her doll, basically shopping for the little guy. So I went up to her and asked her what kind of doll he was. I think it was a Luts Cain, but I don't remember. But anyway she told me everything there was to tell, she was so nice about it and even let me hold him for a second! That night I came home and looked up Luts, and now here I am saving for one ^_____^.

    19. I was actually looking for action figures online for my mom, who is an illustrator, to be her model. I don't even remember what chain of links got me from CY-girls to a picture of Hiritai's Hayden. Bam, I knew I needed one of my own, and now I have proved everyone who thought I wouldn't/couldn't do it wrong! (I was 11 at the time so I can see why they would think that.... but a lot of time has passed since then!)

    20. I was introduced to the BJD hobby by a close friend of mine. She is very artsy and one day she brought one over when we hung out and I feel in love right away! She answered all of my questions and in the next week I bought my first doll.
