1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How did you discover the BJD hobby?

Apr 8, 2011

    1. I first found out about BJDs through anime/manga fandom, and people who dressed their dolls in cosplay. For a very long time I was perfectly content just looking at other people's pretty pictures... but then I moved in with my current roommates and their dolls, and that changed really quickly. Being able to see their dolls up close and fuss over them is what really got me hooked.

    2. My friend showed me the Lati website and I fell in love with the adorable dolls

    3. I saw for the first time a BJD doll in a shop. Also I was surprised with their realness. Then I read about them on the Internet. Now I am in a BJD hobby.

    4. Two of my earliest experiences involving BJDs were both online, my first one was when I accidently stumbled upon some gal's blog and she had posted a very deep article about how closely she had bonded with her Bory and I thought it was lovely (but had no idea what she was really talking about.) Another time I stumbled upon BJDs on dA and that's what really got me into it. After a year or two of looking around the hobby I got my first doll this past December. :)

    5. A girl in my school carried one and she was an obsessed anime fan (now I am one, still mad that she was crazy about it before me) Well, I loved anime and I wanted a dollfie dream doll that I found online. I wanted it so bad I saved up. In 8th grade I was still saving up for an $800 doll but then the funny thing is, In 9th grade, I bought an Msd 1/4 boy and I love him more than anything. I dont feel any desire for the dollfie dreams anymore (I still think they are pretty though) But now I want more Msd's and Im planning on getting a delf kid Bory!! >///<"

    6. DA - I stumbled across some photos there; the artists comments/critiques area had a back and forth conversation comparing Soom and Volks, so I looked up both websites. Fell for Soom Sabik instantly but for years did nothing due to the prohibitive price!

...Now my collection has expanded to levels that I never imagined I'd contemplate...

    7. I first found bjds photos on deviantart, after I found a great facebook group from my country and I start looking at their dolls. I now have 4 BJDs.

    8. I was at an anime con in February, and met someone who had two dolls with her, and also talked to a fellow I met there who told me about them, and I was hooked! Expecting two BJDs. :)

    9. I saw pics on deviantArt and couldn't believe someone had actually made my childhood dream come true - fully customizable, articulated dolls! Must have! At first I would have gotten any doll (Obitsu Gretel looks super super cute, and I was fascinated by the sheer size of Dollshe Hound), but none really clicked with me until I saw a pic of Iplehouse Eva. That gave me the idea of shelling my OCs and it kind of grew from there :) I've got three dolls now (including an Eva :aheartbea) and I'm just getting started :mwahaha

    10. It all starts by a comic which the figures in it are much like BJD dolls. And when I searched for information of the comic online, results of BJD pictures came out along with it. I was deeply fascinated by those beautiful faces then and thus decided to have one (or more XD) of my own. I am so happy that I have known BJD and love them.

    11. My daughter introduced me to them a few years ago. I fell in love with an Infinitidoll but am currently saving to buy my first doll which will be a Doll Leaves Blue :)

    12. An anime convention! I sat in on a meet up and the girl who sat next to me let me hold hers. I couldn't resist.

    13. I once got a barbie magazine from a friend of my mother (i was about 11 y/o) and it was an american barbie version of vogue. In the magazine was an ad for D.O.D featuring a bjd that, to me, looked like a real person. Not understanding the ad, i began wondering, the picture of the doll/human (i couldnt tell at that age) never left my mind. When i was about 13 i found the magazine and saw the ad again, this time i noticed a website stated in the corner of the page. I looked it up and i was amazed! i immediately fell in love with tender E-an and after browsing more sites i was in love again with Dollzone Wing and eventually i came here, saw someone's RS mei and i was sold. I didnt have the money back then, and settled for pullips (wich were cheaper, so that my mom thought it was ok to give me for my birthday). I also had an attempt of making one myself because i just really wanted one sooo bad! i finished that project and still have that doll. (not perfect, not in resin, but hey..i was 13 and had never seen one in rl!) About one and a half year ago i was wondering about what to do with the money i got for my birthday, and when i counted it i realized i would probably have enough to buy mei! and so i did! i love her to bits :3

    14. From photos I saw on Devinatart (some of heise's actually). I just loved how they looked and how detailed their outfits where.
      It took me sometime until I actually bought one though, but now after 5 years I have 5 of them. ^^;

    15. My partner showed me picutres of her old doll that she had a few years back and sadly had to sell and I honestly thought it was kinda weird until about 6 months ago she started sending me pictures of dolls to ask my opinion of which I thought looked cute and I fell in love with Eric from Iplehouse and it was all down hill from there :D. I haven't gotten Eric yet but he will be my next major purchase.

    16. I was browsing another site and seen others BJDs. There are some lovely dolls out there. I feel in love with the look they have. I didn't discover them at a young age. It's only been a couple of years since I found out about them. I'm buying my second BJD ever she will also been my only one as I sold my previous one.

    17. Deviantart, I think. I can't remember what picture, but I was like 'Whoaaah those aren't humans! Amazing!' and I talked about it to a friend of mine, who had seen them before. That was two years ago, I forgot about it and moved on. I saw a few pictures after that on the internet and didn't pay much attention to it, until I saw a BJD in real life past Autumn and I was amazed again. ^^

    18. After moving to Japan I fell in love with a Pullip Dal that I found in a secondhand figure store here! Around this time one of the my friends started posting bjds onto her blog and I decided to look into my Pullip as well as other dolls! I currently don't own any resin dolls just yet but I have 2 ordered c:

    19. I have seen them in people's blog (like DA , liveJornal , etc.)
the beautiful picture and story of their doll make me interested in this hobby
and little information in anime magazine too!

it's look like i fall in love in BJD at first sign
So I search information about BJD and more in love with them ><

I like YS from crobi vary much(Want to buy too!)

    20. The Internet. My friend showed me some of the photos from Dream of Doll, and I fell hard--especially for Ducan. :)
