1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How did you discover the BJD hobby?

Apr 8, 2011

1. I actually have a similar story to lechamoklimatize! I was browsing etsy and saw an absolutely adorable pukifee modeling ram horns :)

2. My 14 year old daughter said about a year ago that she wants BJD doll.
I told her to forget that, they are too expensive.
However, I started to browse the internet doll pages and online stores and found a few doll`s that I liked.
I could no longer resist these beautiful, wonderful dolls :)

I joined the Finnish BJD doll forum website "Hartsilapset"and from there we found the first doll, my daughter`s dod twin-b "Misha".
A few days later, I found from another website my first doll Resinsoul Mei "Ruby". They arrived on the same day in January 2014.

3. how did you get in to this hobby?
How old were you when you started?
How old are you now?

How I got in to the hobby I was on website doing something
when I was a picture of a really pretty girl.
I thought I was a girl.
I went down to the comments.
People were saying that a really pretty BJD.
I was like that's a doll?
I was 16 now I'm 21

4. Nice questions =)

I got into the hobby when seeing pictures on the Internet, but it really began because of a friend that had a Pullip and several BJDs, I really fell in love with it and I got my first doll a couple of months after (a Dal) and then my first BJD head in 2011.
I was 17 when I started and I'm now 21.

5. Thank you zeuh for your time and your reply ^.^

6. I've always loved dolls of one kind or another; I played with Barbies and other figurines when I was a little kid, and although I can't actually remember how I came across the BJD world, I do remember that the first company I came across was Dream of Doll and they're still perhaps my favourite doll makers out there :)

7. I discovered BJDs through another hobby I have - Anime Conventions and Cosplay. There was a booth for BJD's at Anime Expo a number of years back and I've always loved the Japanese culture in particular and found them again through internet research. I think I was pregnant with my first child then and I don't know if it was the hormones or what, but these dolls are so KAWAII!!!! Super cute. They've always had a place in my heart but I could never afford one until now.

8. I was looking at hobby stuff on the Volks Japan website.(back before they had the US store) I started clicking on the SD section and got hooked. I was able to find a doll store that carried Volks goods. This set me down the path of purchasing my first doll:)

9. Pullips and Blythes were my gateway dolls into the world of BJDs..:fangirl:

10. I saw a random photo on instagram of a luts dol. I asked the owner what it was and she gave me some usefull links. I fell in love straight away! X

11. I started with monster high dolls (I really really liked their fully articulated bodies) then the Pullips (who have wonderful outfits) and from there I did a bit of research on Korean dolls and discovered BJds.

12. i found out about them when i started making stop motion puppets i was looking for wigs on ebay and a bjd wig came up so i googled BJD and i found them quite simple really :)

13. I saw dollfies on ebay. But it wouldn't be for a few years after that that I would buy my first BJD an 60cm Obitsu with Haruka head and large bust.

14. longer ago then i'm willing to admit (i'm a slightly old lady...well i feel old) i saw them all the time on devant art but didnt know what they were called. then when i got into cosplay so many girls had those dolls i thought were so cute. i dunno when i found the name ball joint doll, i always just called them "those cute asian dolls" lol but i started looking into but scared off from the price.
:(
when i met my current b/f and he found out how much i loved them he ALWAYS told me to get one but i was still scared of th price but this year i finally broke <3

i cant wait till my little girl comes, i just hope i didnt get too ripped off since after a few weeks of searching i decided on one from ebay :( but it seeeeeems legit lol

15. I think I first saw BJD in a horror movie and fell in love straight away. That was 5-6 years ago and I got my first BJD last year. Soon getting BJD number 2 in either this or next year.

16. I was into collecting Blythe (which I think I got into because I saw a very elaborate custom that I like, though I'm not sure). That introduced me to Flickr where I started following anyone who had pretty Blythe dolls. One girl had a Lati Lami and did a ton of photostories with her. I thought she was so cute that eventually I decided to go ahead and get one. Before I sort of knew about BJD since the Blythe forums have off topic or "other dolls" threads and someone mentioned BJD and DoA. I had done a quick search of them but didn't really like them (too adult, not really cute, weird mods, etc) plus they seemed way expensive compared to Blythe. It was really seeing the tinies that got me hooked.

17. I found the hobby by randomly stumbling on it through the internet for cosplay. I think it was around the time I was obsessed with Rozen Maiden. I just randomly stumbled upon this "super realistic doll" and clicked on the photo. It send me to a page with a ton of different dolls. I searched more and found Dream of Doll. This was 8 years ago.

I finally got my very first doll last year! It's not a super long time ago, since cosplay used to take all of my money.... xP I'm 20 now.

18. I got my first Tonner company fashion doll at 15, which eventually led me to fashion doll magazines which had adds for BJDs. It wasn't until I saw my first picture of Soom's dolls that I was really caught. I got my first BJD at 21 and am now 22. I still have my Tonner dolls, but there's now going back from the world of BJDs!

19. I lived in Japan in 2008-9 and I went to the Volks store but I was just looking for 1:6 doll things for my Blythes and had no interest in bjds. It wasn't until I saw bjds on a momoko forum recently that I got into it.

20. Saw one on eBay and the rest is history!
