1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How did you discover the BJD hobby?

Apr 8, 2011

    1. i was on a forum devoted to one singer fromthe 80s and someone posted a doll, saying it's similar to our fav musician. I google-imaged' it and just found out about them;) ( a quick look at the Luts offer just right now tells me that Luts bliss was the first bjd I ever saw ;)

The funny thing is that the prices were soo intimidating that or the first several months I didn't do anything (not even researched again) because I thought i'd never get myself anything as expensive at that time xD probably the photos I saw were too boring and life-less (mostly just company pictures) and I htought that these dolls aren't really worth the money. (I didn't know then yet what flickr was and what miracles can be found there, not to mention the forums etc :)

    2. I was still in my gothic lolita phase.
And one of my lolita friends online had bought a doll, and I didn't know them.
So I begun searching and found the most beautiful doll!
But my 15 year old self didn't have so much money, so i laid my dream of owning one away.

It was truly awful, because I begun seeing them everywhere.

    3. i was into japan street fashion and came across Blythe
i thought it was just a brand character
later i saw it again and realized it is a collectable doll, so i began to collect it

it was until a little while back i found bjd, but think they ar too expensive

only recently i started looking at it again and think they ar affordable for me now and start getting it
and the virus spread i now have like 6 BJDs (lati yellows and kikipops)

    4. I remember seeing a youtube called Dejavudea (aka Deanna) who is also in the cosplay hobby and used to be in the bjd hobby, back in 2011, when watching her convention vlogs. She did box openings for a Volks Miruku, a feeple60 chloe and I think a Volks Charlotte, and I was super intrigued by the dolls.

So I went away and did some research before jumping into the hobby, and a few years later brought my first doll.

    5. (Taken from my DA) A-hem. My interest goes WAY back to 2009 when I used to watch selenna1995's channel on YouTube (the Harvest Moon videos were my favorite). Then I did some more research and the rest is history.

    6. Dollfie's first I think? I think there must have been like, a Dollfie dressed as a character I knew or sumthin. I remember learning the term BJD, and finding Dream of Doll and thinking they were AMAZING. Though It wasn't until I found Soom that I found Dolls I HAD to have.

    7. Mine is actually a funny story hahaha. In the deepest darkest depths of this old SNS called Friendster, there was a website designer who I really looked up to. She had these dolls in her avatar and signature in this forum we were both in, and she mentioned something about them being from Dream of Doll. They were the first company I've ever known, and I even thought they were the only people who made BJDs LOL.... I don't want to talk about what happened when I found out the prices for them :nowords:

6 or 7 years later, I got into this BL series and they had these... weird dolls things that grow up and turn human-like if you loved them enough(if you know what I'm talking about, I'm already embarrassed so shoot me :shudder). First thing that came into my mind was "I must have one of those dolls so I can sympathize with the protag" so I looked up some companies and stuff. Then... I got sucked into BJD hell a day after ordering my first doll. I never thought something as simple and silly of a reason would get me into this hobby, but I don't have any regrets! And of course, being able to customize them is also another reason why I was drawn into them, too! :3nodding:

    8. I've always been interested in dolls and was making and teaching polymer clay dolls when I came across a couple of bjds at a doll show.

    9. I had seen bjd in my friends blog. They were so charmed *__*

    10. The first year I began to sculpt, a couple crafters I knew began to rave about Azones and Pullips. I looked into them, but couldn't justify spending the money on one. I looked to see if the website offered any other dolls I might be more interested in and thats when I ran across ABJDs. I've been hooked ever since!

    11. Not much of a story to tell, just found them on deviantArt, and thought "Oh, I need one!" and that's it. Haha :)

    12. I was on Facebook scrolling and an artist I follow posted a picture of an anthro BJD. I have never see a figure or doll like it so I immediately researched what it was. The artist didn't say exactly what it was in the description so it took me about an hour of digging around the internet until I started finding BJD company websites. From there, hooked!

    13. I remembered I couldn't sleep that night, and was tumblr-ing and then I saw someone posted lots of BJD picture. One BJD but lots of poses, in different settings. I immediately got interested, and started looking for more BJD, and by the third day, I ordered my very first BJD: a minifee! and the clan starts to grow :)

    14. For me it all started as an emotional purchase in one of doll shops - I came in with no idea about what BJD is, and an hour later I came out as a proud owner of a marvellous BJD doll. Later I dived into internet forums and discovered lots of information, many doll companies and lots of wonderful people who has the same interest in the dolls as I do. My first BJD is still with me - and not going anywhere :)

    15. I had heard about BJDs for a while, but didn't really know anything about them. Then one day, Feverworm (one of my favorite artists) posted something saying that BJDs were an inspiration for her artwork. So naturally, I had to look up BJDs and I stumbled across Ringdoll, which was the first company that I'd ever seen creating a type of doll that didn't look like little children (their grown sculpts). And after that, well, the world of BJDs unfolded and just completely took hold of me~

    16. I have a very good friend, who ones a lot of dolls. We live in different countries, but I do fly to see her rather often. So during one of the visits, she introduced me to her collection. And I fell in love with one of her boys. He was just so gorgeous! So I simply had to get a bjd after that! It was a compulsion of some sort.

    17. I found this hobby through cosplay of Ducan by Yuegene. I love this character. Then I found Ducan doll and from that day he is my grail doll. ♥

    18. Faceup videos on YouTube!

    19. I saw them first in a doll forum that i joined for my pullips. I could resist because of the prices.. but the more i saw them in forums and in a Facebook group the more i want.. Then i was on a doll meet with pullips and bjds. And then i saw my first msd in person and fell in love ^^

    20. I found it by seeing all of the gorgeous dolls online! :daisy
