1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How did you discover the BJD hobby?

Apr 8, 2011

    1. I was browsing another hobby forum and someone had created an off topic thread on the most interesting dolls people had seen. Someone posted a bunch of Doll Chateau pictures, the main one being Elizabeth. I bought her not long after and joined DOA around the same time.

    2. I found out about BJD on Flickr, maybe in 2010, when I started post pictures of my (off-topic) dolls which I make collection. That time I spent hours looking at dolls' photos and there I met many new kinds of dolls, including the BJD. Since then I researched about it and follow bjd (and other dolls) collectors on Flickr, admiring how these dolls seem alive! :)
However, the desire to really have a bjd was born late last year with a limited doll that I fell in love. Unfortunately I missed the deadline to buy her, but I still hope to get her one day.:eusa_pray:kitty2

    3. I discovered the hobby through YouTube. Denali Wind's videos were my introduction and i fell in love with how free and imaginative one could be with creating characters. I've been involved in the hobby now for just over a year and loving it.

    4. I came across bjds about 3 years ago at a anime convention and just fell in love with them kept looking at pictures and with how much I was looking around would have thought more info would have stuck with me anyway I was finally able to order one a few months ago and I'm just waiting on her to come in

    5. In 2007 My friend and I went to otakon for the first time and in one of the books that come in your bag when you register was an article about BJDs we fell in love instantly and googled them and saw how much they were so yeaaars later my friend got her first doll then after that her collection continued to grow..After a year ago I went to visit her after years of not seeing her in person(since she moved away) and She surprised me by giving me one of her dolls and that's how I got my first BJD ; u ; <3

    6. I have found just about every hobby I'm into by accident. I was on Deviant Art out of boredom and stumbled upon Pullips which lead me to Flickr. Looking at Pullip images for two days lead me to BJDs. Unoa and Dream of Doll were the first BJDs I ever laid eyes on but I couldn't afford it and was unaware of Denver Doll and Layaway so I stuck to Pullips until recently. I was always interested in Dolls so I fell in love with them quite quickly.

    7. In 2012 I started a project about writers who write fiction. One of the heroine of the documentary were 10 dolls dollshe. I was enchanted by the beauty, realism and charisma of these dolls. But did not think and did not want a doll to buy. In the spring of 2013 I was shown a photo of one of Saint dollshe. He was like the person that I dreamed of. And I could not resist - bought. Almost immediately realized that this is a hobby for me. And my husband is very supportive. Now I have 7 dolls dollshe and I'm going to buy another one.

    8. I remember a few years ago I found LUTS and I didn't quite know what a BJD was but I thought they were wayyy too expensive even though I was interested. Then about a year or so ago I rediscovered them on tumblr, and researched a bit. Since the price tag didn't look as intimidating as it did before, I decided to buy my first BJD; and now I'm here. :)

    9. My SO introduced me to them, and since the two of us tend to be obsessive hobbyists, it's been a downward spiral ever since.

    10. Through pictures on the internet, then searched and seen more and more great looking dolls in this art. The more pictures I found more interesting I found it.

    11. I'm on a forum for another kind of doll, and one of the members showed pictures of her new BJD and I was just blown away!! She then showed me some of the picture stories she had made and I was hooked, went researching online, and was utterly lost within half an hour. I'm pretty much a beginner but I'm learning FAST, especially with all the information on here!

    12. I still remember the first bjd I ever saw, Iplehouse Lonnie. I have loved dolls all my life but nothing could have prepared me for those first few weeks, the more I looked, the more I found to love, I had never seen anything so beautiful, even now, 5 dolls later,I'm still amazed by their beauty.

    13. I discovered the BJD hobby through Pullip dolls. I was into Pullip dolls before (and I still have a few ones but I am more into the BJD hobby now) and so I was on a Pullip forum. But as asian dolls are somehow all connected, there was a small section there about others asian dolls. Of course there was plenty of BJD posted there amongst others dolls and I started to feel curious about them. At this early time, I wouldn't have guessed that I would be so addicted by now. ;)

    14. I genuinely cannot remember XD I think it was probably on tumblr, or I saw dollfie dreams, something like that! Ive loved them ever since though!

    15. I found out about this hobby through a music video by Kerli call Teaparty. All through out the video she had dolls sitting around her room and she turned her guest into dolls at the end of the video. I googled Kerli Teaparty dolls which lead me to a Den of Angles thread and a link to the website. When I found out they were sold out I started doing my own research and found BJD Collectast and the Junky Spot.

    16. I was looking for some raver pants on eBay when I was 14, and saw a listing of some raver pants for a pretty doll...I HAD to find out what that doll was. It turns out it was something called a BJD!

    17. Of all things, I had bought and downloaded a visual novel called Nameless: The One Thing You Must Recall, which deals with a girl and her five Crobidolls coming to life. I became curious and wondered if those dolls and company were real, and...well, here we are, three years later :D

    18. It was around 2008. I can't remember what I was researching on Google, but I accidentally found a picture of DoD doll and it looked so pretty that I had to go on their websites and do more research. I fell completely in love with Homme Ducan and I wanted to know more about this hobby. It was one of best accidents ever happened to me, but I don't think my purse agrees with me.

    19. I discovered the hobby many years ago just a teenager and through art, an artist I've followed for years. I loved it so much then fell in love with my first grail doll. After I got a decent job I couldn't save myself anymore!

    20. I saw some pictures of BJDs on Tumblr earlier in the year and they didn't hold my interest that much, but while talking with some lolitas at a convention the topic of dolls came up, and I sat in on a BJD panel where I saw them in person for the first time. They were so cute and now I have one on the way!
