It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. How did you know you were ready to buy your first doll?

Sep 27, 2015

    1. I had seen quite a few pics and cruised ebay for about a year. I saw one lovely lady and just knew she was the one I wanted. She was the one who called out to me and so I got her. I still like her a lot even though I shifted to another company now.

    2. I did several months worth of research, and leading up to that I had dabbled in Pullip and Tonner dolls. I knew when I saw BJDs that they were much more up my alley than the previous dolls I had collected because I loved the fantasy themed ones, and decided I wanted to give it a shot. I purchased a doll after careful thought, and was not disappointed.

    3. I didn't really.
I had been interested in bjd's years ago, but didn't have the money so forgot about them for a long time.
When I got a full time job I had got back into researching them and looking into them, I had the money so I just decided to go for it.
Although I was paranoid about whether I had made the right decision even after ordering my first doll.
But as soon as I got it I was so happy, I'm glad I made the decision to go for it.
Not everyone understands it, but yeah I'm really happy to finally be a part of the hobby. :)

    4. I honestly never made plans to buy a BJD. I stopped buying dolls for three years . One day I was going through YouTube and saw a video about a smart doll. After watching that I decided to look up Minifee Chloe and saw that it was available for preorder in tan skin. I started doing some research and the more information I found out about BJDs the more I wanted one. Three weeks later I purchased my first BJD from DDE which was the last day of the real fee event, right in time to get my girl in tan skin. I'm extremely happy with my purchase and hope to get another BJD soon.

    5. When, I think I had enough funds XD I've been looking for the right doll for quit some time, but in the end, I ended up with a gorgeous Resinsoul Song <3

    6. When I couldn't stop thinking about that doll. It was love at first sight and any other doll I saw didn't make me as happy as when I saw that certain doll.

Before that doll I saw many others and I thought "oooh cute, I want it" but if you keep saying that for other dolls then it means they're not the ones. There has to be The One! you know what I mean ;)

    7. When I bought my first doll, it was an impulse. He was on sale (30% off) plus I have a 5% off coupon that I got from signing up on their website. It was a really great deal at that time and I certainly thought that way. But, he had lost his appeal to me. I think I might sell him for good. Now, I believe I should've waited and exercised more patience and probably did more research.

    8. Honestly? The tax refund had just come in, and I fell in LOVE with Soom's coyote elf LE. When 10 days had passed and I still wanted it badly, I knew it was time to order my first BJD.

    9. I had wanted one for years, life got in the way a few times so I had to save up the money at least twice, and one day I just suddenly got the feeling that I really needed one and I had the money all saved up at the moment, asked my mom if I could charge a super expensive doll to her credit card and said that I would give her cash the next day, the stars aligned and she said yes!
So I ordered her and gave my mom an envelope of cash the next day, she had a panic attack a few days later when she realized how much I had spent (even though I told her several times before I actually placed the order) and I have not regretted the decision for a second.

    10. I'm in the same situation! I've wanted a Resinsoul Long since I was in high school, but I never had the money. I'm in college now and I'd rather the Gang body (the chest of the Long body looks so weird to me in comparison), but I want him to be a deer, so I've asked Sun if they can give him Dan's ears and he said they could. :) I have the money now... All I need is the courage to place an order.

EDIT: I have placed my order and now eagerly await the arrival of my deer! :D

    11. I admired from afar for years, and just saved up money. When I had the money I had been looking at so many dolls for so long that I knew what I wanted. It turned out to be a newer doll at the time, so I'm glad I waited because I wouldn't have wanted any other one :)

    12. I'd wanted one for years--probably about seven years now--but was never in a financial position to get one. A while ago I suddenly realised that I now was, and I'd seen several sculpts I'd wanted become unavailable, so when I saw an Iplehouse Chase while idly browsing the site and fell in love, I decided it was probably now or never. And then, like so many other people, promptly had a panic attack.

And then ordered a Dollshe Saint a week or so later. *cough* I was worried I'd just done something incredibly stupid, but when Gabrys (Chase) arrived and I absolutely fell in love with him I decided I'd done the right thing after all. :)

    13. I've loved BJDs for 6 years but despite planning and writing stories for them and doing a lot of research, it was also something I imagined buying in the indeterminate future since it was so expensive and I had so many other things I had to prioritise. However, after meeting a new friend earlier this year who owned BJDs (and actually looking at them up close for the first time), I realised that it was something that was actually possible for me and I ordered my first doll, my beautiful SWITCH Hahwa... then I bought his body... and then it snowballed into buying another new body for another character and then a second head for my boy (SWITCH Milhwa)....... Within the span of 2-3 months I spent a small fortune.. T_T I don't regret but in hindsight I should have spaced everything out a bit more.. oh well! :)

    14. The moment I saw Daisy Dayes baby centaurs. There was no question that it was going to happen.

    15. The first time i saw BJD's i thought they were cool but never really explored them. Many years later they popped up again in my life and I started researching them and loving them. At first it was terrifying. I saw dolls I wanted but found out they were HUGE compared to my mental image. Then the price about knocked me down off my feet. I drifted away from it. But then started to look at it more closely. Then I made the decision to window shop. I looked through dozens of shops. Almost every time I found something I liked it was out of stock. For a month I watched one particular doll, a HUGE migidoll. It came back in stock for a limited time but it was around 500 dollars! So I ended up chickening out. It went out of stock again. Then I went through the same store and found a 300 dollar one I wasn't fond of but I almost bought. Then I went to Souldoll and looked through their stuff. I found a smirking doll and I remember thinking "why would I want a doll with an expression?" (since it seemed that wasn't the popular decision). I moved away from it, but came back to it thinking "Why wouldn't want a doll that's smirking??". So I added it to the cart. Asked friends on their opinion. "If you wanted something bad that was a bit useless and around 300 dollars would you get it?" everyone came back saying "if it makes you happy, yes". So I bit my lip and got it during a sale. so when it was originally going to be 400 with shipping and everything i got it down under 350. So I just go with what my friends say. If it makes you happy, get it.

    16. I um...found out about the hobby approximately three days before ordering my first doll. I originally was intending on waiting until January or so to place an order, but I started following people on tumblr and looking up box opening videos and yeah...

No telling if I will be severely disappointed or whatever. But no panic attack about spending the money so far (and it's not like I'm rich or anything). Mostly when I discovered how long the wait would be to get one, I was like "there's no way I could wait until January!"

    17. It took me about two years to convince myself to buy a bjd for real. I discovered elfgutz (via tumblr then instagram) and was just totally captivated by their doll comet. I've been a cosplayer for around 5 years so I always enjoyed becoming characters, and even before that I was captivated by the idea of character design. I decided I needed a bjd after seeing doll-chateau's dolls, I just fell in love with how delicate they all are, and now I have my first bjd on its way (doll chateau bella). Her body type reminds me alot of my own, and I think she'll be a great first doll since I have a sick design for her character. After that I just want a family of blushy cute boys hahaha.

    18. Hi! I've been a doll collector before I went in and jumped into BJDs. I've always wanted to have one when I first found out about them but was hesitant to buy one since they're too expensive compared to my other dolls and I know myself well, I know when I start buying/collecting something, I would not be able to resist buying more. I've seen a lot of beautiful sculpts and fullset dolls and I've wanted to have them. I felt excited, awed by their beauty, I felt like I really want to have them sometime, when I'm ready, ready for all the expenses. But days and months went by, I no longer felt the same for them, yes, I still want them but I don't feel the same excitement and desire for them. That was more than a year ago. Few months ago, I tried looking for BJDs again. I wanted to learn more about the hobby and the dolls. I thought I could look for a doll I may buy in the future (same thought as before, when I'm ready for the expenses). I tried looking for BJDs that are more beautiful than the ones I've liked before but not one did stand against them. I looked for days and weeks. I thought I wouldn't want any other BJDs (aside from the ones I wanted before) until I found THAT one sculpt. When I first saw her, I knew she's the ONE. I fell in love with the sculpt the moment I first saw her. I knew that time, she's the PERFECT one for me. I knew I NEED to get her. Other dolls I've wanted to have before no longer matter to me. It no longer matter to me if I'll get them or not in the future. I thought I wasn't ready to have one UNTIL I saw her. I immediately purchased her. Yes, I spent a lot for her than my other dolls but I don't regret it. Now she's with me and I love every bit of her. :whee::love

I think you'll know if the doll is the one for you when you feel something you've never felt before for the other dolls. You'll fall in love with that doll. You will no longer think twice or thrice or even hesitate. You WILL want to have him/her. Hope you find the one for you as I have found mine :whee:

    19. I really really wanted a doll since around middle school. So, I bought one as my graduation gift in High School. I knew I was ready for one because I just really really wanted it. Usually when I want something it lasts only for a month at max. But I wanted this doll for so many years, so I knew I was ready.

    20. I first started considering getting a doll early last year, and that phase lasted a while as I read up and learnt about various aspects of the hobby and figured what sort of dolls I was interested in! Eventually, though, since I couldn't find any of the dolls I wanted anywhere as they were all limited or sold out, my interest slowly petered out a bit.

Then recently, the topic was brought up during a conversation with some friends, and I started telling them what I knew about dolls and showed them ones I thought were super neat- in the process discovering a new company for me to fall in love with (DearMine!). Since then, I've spent the past month or so endlessly looking up whatever I can about dolls, browsing photos relentlessly and wanting one more and more. I'm pretty sure all I need now is to wait for one I love (and that is actually in stock) to come along, and I'll snatch it right into my shopping cart!
