1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How did you purchase your first BJD?

Nov 10, 2013

    1. I bought mine from marketplace here. ^^

    2. I ordered AS QingYi from an agent. I used my allowance to pay as he's limited doll and I wanted to get him as quick as possible.
As I am waiting for him now, I work part time job to pay off the "debt".
"Debt" as the money was not supposed to be used for BJD.
It will be some time until I can afford him a clothing... maybe I shall cut my old clothes and sew him one :sweat

    3. From a friend online who was downsizing her collection. I'd been in love with one doll of hers in particular for the longest time and I was lucky enough to be the one to get her. I'd never seen a BJD in real life before and I was blown away when I took her out of the shipping box. She was even more beautiful in real life. Needless to say - I was hooked.

    4. Junkyspot black friday sale. I guess that makes this my dollyversary in a way xD

    5. Hehe I did a lot of shopping on ebay. And you get like ebay bucks backs on purchases you buy on ebay. So then i basically bought my bjd with my ebay bucks and I only had to use $4 out of my own pocket.

    6. I just ordered them through a friend with paypal... He has a US credit card which makes the currency a little better than what paypal offers... (CAD why you are so low). For accessories, I also use Paypal or straight with credit card.

    7. Since i am to young to be able to order things online i had to ask my parents if they could buy it, with me paying them back in cash. I saved for such a long time and when i finally had enough money to buy my first doll. My parents didn't cooperate. The worst thing for me had to be trying to persuade my parents into actually agreeing with me buying the doll. Also i bought it from a company! :)

    8. I saved up all my money from when I was little (certainly not for a BJD cos that was a long time ago, but just in general) and a BJD was the first biggish thing I bought for myself, so I already had the savings. I bought from a company and used a debit card via PayPal. I don't like the idea of having a credit card because of the risks associated (of overspending and high interest rates) :P

    9. I got mine when Mystic Kids was doing their October 10% off sale. Thankfully this sale applied on Junky Spot, so I was able to get my doll from a US based place. I liked this fact because I didn't have to wait as long and because I knew through a friend that Junky Spot is a safe place to shop. ^^

    10. Garage Sale!
I got super duper lucky. A lady was having a cosplay garage sale right before a big con, and my beautiful doll was standing on her table. I totally didn't expect her to be for sale, but she was - and for ridiculously cheap. I couldn't say no <3

    11. I got my first doll, a Limhwa to You Sara on ebay, second hand.

    12. I bought her in pieces, kind of n__n;; I bought her body from (at the time) the only Volks dealer in the USA on the east coast, which came to around $200 shipped because it was in stock (Dollfie Dream ver.1). Later, I purchased a head directly from Volks in Japan for roughly $80 (also Dollfie Dream), then eventually got her a resin SD13 Volks F-10 head here on the forum secondhand for around $150 or so, and then much later, got her a resin body to match.. I don't think I've spent more than $300-$400 in one transaction on a doll or doll part, I buy in pieces or do layaway for anything I can't shell out for all at once, which my cap seems to be $400. I can't hold on to more than that at one time without more important things eating it up, my 'responsible monster' can be rather insistent.. way more insistent than my 'irresponsible monster', anyway. :sweat

    13. I got my first doll with a credit card which was paid off by the time she was shipped.

    14. I bought his head second hand and his body from Bobobie, with the money I had for Christmas. I received him maybe a week after I ordered him, since his body was in stock, it was just awesome !

    15. I bought my first one secondhand off eBay.

    16. Do You know what sculpt she was ?

I Bought mt girl off Ebay too, then she arrived all unstrung and magnets falling out of her head. She was beautiful and I fell in love but she had to be returned. I got my money back and I am now waiting on the exact same doll now. In fact she will probably be here tomorrow or Tuesday.
I got five more dolls in between then and now .Still cant wait to get her though. You know...... "first love" an all. lol

    17. I've been saving up for anime figures when I suddenly had the impulse to browse through BJD sites [forums, companies, whathaveyou]. It has always been somehow a dream of mine to own a BJD, and, while looking through such sites, I realized that I actually finally have the funds to buy a doll. I waited after my birthday though, so I had additional funds because of money given to me for my birthday. x'D

I bought my first doll through Luts, and I used a credit card to pay for her, as well as some other accessories I got for her as well.

    18. I was lucky enough to already have some money put aside that I wasn't going to use before I found out about BJD and fell in love

    19. Bought it on ebay with paypal.

    20. Cash...they had some event and visit my country at that time, so I preordered, lucky because I don't have any cc nor paypal :( until now lol~
