1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How did you purchase your first BJD?

Nov 10, 2013

    1. The first doll that I had to send back and I re-ordered her? I just got a delivery email.... she will be here TODAY ! Cant wait..she was my first love after all. The one who addicted me to this hobby. ! Yeah !

    2. I bought my first doll from Denver Doll Emporium two years ago using my credit card, which I paid off within the next billing cycle because I already had the cash for my Resin Soul Feng.

    3. I just bought my first doll myself. I saved up for her and bought her in full from MOC and I bought her clothes three weeks later(tonight).

    4. Layaway! I have four resin bjds and all but the second were bought through layaway. I have two more on layaway now.

    5. My first doll was actually a sort of impulse purchase.

I was in Japan looking for a geisha/ maiko doll to bring back with me as a souvenir and as I was researching I stumbled on to these incredible BJD's. Over the course of 2 days in Tokyo I hunted down two Volks shops and a series of other BJD sellers who stocked mainly vinyl in Akihabara and after much ooohing and ahhing I picked up my Volks Yori from the Akihabara store as well as a whole load of other accessories. I put the cost on my credit card with the promise of paying it off over the next 3 pay checks...

Next time I go back, I am definitely picking up a kimono, sword, and a bunch of other bits and bobs I saw. Also maybe some SD17 clothes and shoes for my EID folk.

    6. I had been wanting a bjd but I couldn't decide which one I wanted. During that time I had saved a little bit of money until I found him and was able to pay in full! :)

    7. I purchased my body from Jeeryama on eBay, and her head and most of her supplies on ACBJD. I'm still awaiting her arrival>:)

    8. I had some money saved up but not enough to pay outright, so I did a layaway through Denver Doll Emporium for my Pukifee.

    9. I saved up for both of mine and paid for them through Paypal ^u^ it was so exciting to see my savings go up and up as I did, and definitely worth the wait

    10. I was really young and spoilt so my mom payed for my MNF Shiwoo for Christmas back in '08. I believe it was a paypal transaction also

    11. My first doll was an Elfdoll Soah. I got her off of Junkyspot back when they carried the brand. Emory had one in stock, so I signed up for layaway. I just sent him a little money each week when I got paid and had her home way before my layaway would have been due.

    12. bought it on leekeworld with my sister's account

    13. I buy my first bjd in a forum. That was OK. The transaction be quickly.

    14. I purchased my first used from an anime swap at an anime convention in September. Once I bought him, I was hooked and have since bought two more!

    15. I bought my first on eBay as well.

    16. Bought my first bjd from luts the company itself. They were having a discount on some sculpts and the one I was eyeing for a long times as well.. So I bought her and I couldn't be happier ^-^

    17. I just asked my parents if I could buy one since I was just in time for the Dollism Plus 9 in Hong Kong and I wouldn't have to pay shipping costs.

    18. Sold a ton of monster high dolls and my huge gen 4 MLPony collection but was still able to purchase outright (had a better job then lol) I did put some past dolls on credit but only ones under 200. Only own one doll now. :)

    19. I bought a head I wanted first, because the scuplt I wanted was retired. Now I am searching for a gently used body from the same time period while debating putting an MNF Celine on layaway through DD. lol oops.

    20. I am still saving up. Thank you holiday seasonal work.
I'm planning on buying minifees and other msd sized dolls and making stories. I plan on also making clothes and furniture/props for them. But anywhoo... I am planning. On paying a percentage now and the rest once its ready to deliver. So I have the time I need to raise the rest of the money. Though layaway is very tempting I don't wanna wait so long.
