1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How did you purchase your first BJD?

Nov 10, 2013

    1. I haven't bought my first yet but my boyfriend offered to buy my first for Christmas.

    2. I always keep a bit of extra money around, and I discovered BJDs by basically being on the internet way too much. I fell in love with them, and decided to buy one that I found on sale during an event. Since most of my interest in BJDs lies in the creative side of personally customizing them, I ordered her blank and bought accessories separately. It has been tons of fun finding my way around giving faceups, and I have decided to body blush her myself as well. Eventually, I will make clothes for her. It's been fun so far!

    3. I ordered my first bjd directly through souldoll company using credit card. I struggled a long time before making the decision. I usually don't do layaway unless I feel very secured.

    4. My first little bjd was my aquariusdoll , and i was suprised that she was not expensive. After her the other 5 dolls followed soon: I have now 2 aquariusdolls, 2 Latidolls, one Pullip doll , and a have a lot of blythe also now...all in one year .

    5. i went all the way to a shop in hong kong just above dollheart. yes their physical store and bought my first sd13 mark from there. it was a totally interesting experience not being able to communicate that well. atleast i had a discount before i left the place.
ofcourse i head straight to dollheart to purchase clothes shoes and what not :)

    6. I saved up for my first bjd, but my parents both chipped in some of the money for her because she was my birthday present. We bought her directly from the company and thankfully she did arrive around my birthday so I thankfully didn't feel like I had to wait too long! I had to give my parents the cash and have them purchase her online. I got her wig, eyes and clothes from eBay (though the clothes were very much temporary because they didn't fit her very well)

    7. The order of the doll i want was closed. I'm searching it in some forum. & I finally found a people send the one i want.

    8. I directly ordered him from the company while they have a pre-order event and I use 3 months layaway to get him XD!

    9. Well my first doll, was a gift from my mom for Christmas :)
She paid it all at once. My second one I am doing in payments.

    10. I bought my first doll, a Ringdoll Diyue, after a few weeks of trawling through a whole bunch of BJD companies' websites and looking through all the sculpts I could. And then, miracle of all miracles, I got a credit card (which everyone knows spells certain death) and paid for it in one shot. But I don't regret it, because my boy's absolutely beautiful.

When I get the second addition to my doll family, though, I'll probably go for layaway to make it easier financially. And there are a lot more doll companies offering layaways now!

    11. My boy was a cheap one, but for me it was rather hard to get the whole amount out from a family budget. So it was a layaway for 3 months.

    12. i make layaway for my first boy, get from china dealer from AKagi DOll,
for the 2nd boy i make credit card payment from Luts. :)

    13. My first girl was acquired in a trade. I'm a reborn artist so I traded a kit. I actually received 2 girls at the same time. :)

dollndoll heart bubble, and a Q baby. That's all it took and I was hooked.

      Misty

    14. On eBay, actually, haha! That's how I found out about their existence in the first place!

    15. I also bought my first BJD on ebay - she was yellowed and I paid too much for her but you have to start somewhere and you learn as you go.

    16. Hello all,

I purchased my first bjd from denverdoll, they had a fairyland littlefee chloe in stock. So I grabbed her up. I've been in the hobby ever since.

    17. I saved up and then ordered from DDE.

The first doll I ordered was not the first doll I got due to the production time, though. The first doll actually in my home was from the Marketplace here on DoA.

    18. I ordered my Doll Family H An Ping via Alice's Collections. However, since I can't use my credit card and risk my mother finding out, I had another person from my local forum order the doll for me and I paid her via bank transfer. I don't have him as of yet though.

    19. I ordered his head directly from the company, and paid by credit card. Then I ordered his body from Alice's Collections, using PayPal!!
Clothes, eyes, wigs and everything came from taobao, my fave shopping place.

    20. I'm planning to pay for my first doll with my tax return. If I don't get my tax return I will use my next pay check.
I've been working full time for nearly a year. (:
