1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How did you purchase your first BJD?

Nov 10, 2013

    1. I spent weeks looking at Luts, namely Cerberus project dolls, and then went with senior delf. Afterward I begged my mom and dad to fund my doll. And it was my xmas gift. Good teen years lol. Now I fund my own dolls which I actually love way more

    2. My first Bjd was a gift. I find it very sweet that my boy friend supports my hobby and he didn't question the price or anything when I said I wanted one.

The only advice I can give is for you to save and wait for one you really want. Also do a lot of research about the doll before you buy her or him because pictures can be misleading. It's good to make sure you pick the right companies that make the types of Bjd that you like. Also, saving is hard but don't give up! It took me three months of not eating out, and getting little gas for my car to save up for a limited Luts girl but I did it! And so can you. :)

    3. I pretty much saved up for her because she's not a limited edition so I had plenty of time. I was so happy when I finally got her. I paid through paypal because I didnt have credit card at the time. So paypal worked best for me.

    4. Saved up! I paid for him via PayPal in one go, and have yet to use layaway for any dolls. I think the temptation would be too great for me too put far more on layaway than I could reasonably afford. ^^;

    5. I put a Doll Family-H Ella on layaway from Mint on Card. Couldn't wait to put another one on layaway so i put a Dikadoll Berry on layaway.

    6. The process was pretty simple, I contacted the artist via email and he kindly gave me instructions to how to make payment which was through PayPal.

    7. I was reading posts in a BJD forum and suddenly saw people talking on the forum chat about the doll I was looking for. I said I wished I had that doll for it was my dream doll and someone contacted me saying she was selling hers. So, my first doll is second hand and a bit old but I love her the most.

    8. I saved up and bought mine through Alice's Collections.

    9. I saved up money without any aim and one day I saw a doll...

    10. I bought my first BJD on the marketplace, it was a second handed doll. And since then, I only bought on original website once and generally prefer marketplace. Concerning money, I saved up really really hard >x<

    11. I was a stupid and irresponsible child and I spent the lump sum I got from college (money they give you to buy supplies, live on etc) to buy a doll ;p My first doll was a Dream of Doll Homme Kiril who I bought straight from the company, I ended up selling him to a friend and using the money to buy an Angel Region Dana, also bought straight from Angel Region. My second doll was a Dollmore Momo (again, purchased from company directly) and he was a birthday gift. Nowadays I save up my money from work, if it means I have to do layaway, that's fine (it's preferable even). I definitely prefer to buy straight from the company, I'd rather deal with the folks who make the dolls than a dealer.

    12. I wanted a Bjd that had a more realistic look. I found iplehouse and circled Pamela for awhile and I think it was pretty much at the last minute, because after I said "IT'S GO TIME" and clicked purchase, the "Sold Out" message came up. Hahhaaa! Mine!

It's crazy, since then, I've purchased the David Kuncci from Dollshe, DC's Christina & Elizabeth (spider and human), & I'm now circling Souldoll Hye.....blood is in the water and I'm pretty sure I've got the full blown black shark eyes...

    13. Long long time of saving up. XD The moment I realized I wanted one of these dolls I started saving up my pocket money that I got every month. I got 20€ a month... <.< So I guess it's obvious how long it took until I had saved up all the money... ToT" But during the time of saving up I had a good time doing research and all at least. =D

    14. I had been saving up for about 4 months and then my dad sent me birthday money so I combined those two together and ordered my very first doll! I work at a restaurant but not as a waiter so I don't usually get tips but sometimes if the guys working at the bar need help taking the bus tubs back they'll give me tips! So I took all the tips I got and had been saving them up. I got to $90 and then birthday money covered the rest :D

    15. I bought my first doll 2nd hand and paid in cash. I met up with the seller by my local train station, since she was living close by. :)

    16. Well, at that time, I was still a student, so I only could do layway. But I only used my parttime job money to do that. It's hard, but after I got him, it's really deserved.

    17. I begged my mom for a Volks Nana when the 2010 renewal versions came out and she gave in finally LOL I was 16 at the time and looking back I still can't believe she did that for me!

    18. Mom gave me some prize when i can have a good grade, so i asked her to buy BJD but only my first, after that all of my other doll was my money.

    19. I had been saving up for an Angell-Studio SD boy, but when I saw Luts re-released my grail I scooped him up! I had most of the money on-hand, and just pulled the last amounts from allowance and end of the school year gifts. I ordered him in full with PayPal.

    20. My first boy was actually a gift from one of the sweetest people I know, but don't often get a chance to talk to. <3 She helped me when I could not get one. I don't know what possessed her. That was a lot of money to spend, but I will forever be very thankful to her for this kindness. I look at him with a great fondness.
