1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How did you purchase your first BJD?

Nov 10, 2013

    1. It just happened. I happened to pass by him, happened to have enough money and happened to fall in love =]]
I made a full payment instead of layaway for my first BJD since i couldn't bear to wait any longer ~

    2. I bought my first BJD at DollAkon, a BJD convention within A-Kon, an anime convention.

    3. I cruised ebay for a year of so casually and then one day said I am going to do it. Found a Luts Clary that called out to me and that started a major acquisition of bjds. Once you have one you see how wonderful they are and want more. I discovered Iplehouse and my wallet has been in trouble ever since. But I enjoy them so much it is worth it.

    4. On my birthday in 2013 i got 250$ and i was like "yay! now i can buy BJD!" xD
So i surf on web and found acbjd where's a lot of dolls from different companys.
And then i crush for one of them ^_^ And now she's mine >:D

    5. One day when I was browsing online to find the perfect sculpt for my first doll, I finally found it and just started saving money like crazy. :D Although once I had enough money, I got the shipping and customs costs paid as a "present" by my mother, so I could afford wigs and clothes for the doll too. :)

    6. After eyeballing BJDs for a looooong while trying to get a feel for which sculpts were for me, I bought one via a European dealre and I paid in full through paypal.

    7. I had been eyeing them off for a while and one day decided to just do it and I bought one from an ebay dealer and paid in full with paypal.

    8. I used my summer job money for my first doll. I just happened to have enough 'spare' money and kind of impulse bought her...:abambi:. I used PayPal and my linked debit card for ordering her :chibi I didn't expect at all that I would be accepted in university soon after ordering her though... :sweat

    9. I saved up for a while and I eventually found a doll I liked for a really good price secondhand! The funny thing is that I never even considered the sculpt before I found it secondhand.

    10. My first bjd was a pukifee ante that my mother, grandmother and aunt bought me for my birthday! They ordered her from a french reseller. She had Fairyland makeup. But I sold her long years ago :)

    11. When I first saw the doll I wanted in 2014 I ended up just putting her out of my mind because she was out of range for me. I didn't really save for her intentionally, but by the time I was interested in BJDs again in 2016 I had the money available so I bought her on the spot!

    12. My friend sent me BJD photos, and that point I fell in love with dolls, so started researching BJDs. I ordered my very first doll 2015 and now I'm happy about playing with BJD.

    13. The first bjd I ever saw was a crobidoll Nia on deviantart many years ago... though what captured my attention at that time was his miniature handphone prop rather than his face ^^; I decided to look him up on a whim, and when I laid eyes on Crobidoll Yeonho, something just clicked right into place. His face looked so pathetic that I kind of felt that I had to bring him home? But being a broke student at that time meant that I had to quickly give up on that idea.

Fast forward a few months later, I got a really nice surprise when I scored some bursary cash for topping a national exam. Naturally, I used it all on him.
      TDLR: Studying sorta pays off??

    14. For my first, I saved up and paid in full.

Since then, I've done a few layaways, if I knew for sure I could pay it off in time.

I've never used a credit card, as most add fees if you don't pay it in the first month, and dolls are expensive enough already without those fees.

    15. I put my Minifee Celine on layaway through DDE, that's the only way I could afford her. It's all been downhill from there, ;)

    16. I got my first bjd about 2 years ago, he is a Souldoll Chiron- in human form, I brought him from a seller on my local trademe site, the lady who owned him at the time, had him for about 4yrs and she was the second owner, she even let me do a layaway for him, as he was quite expensive, but I was really happy to get him after 6months, hes a lovely boy, I named him Kai. I will post a photo of him soon.

    17. I have saved really a long long time for buying a 1/4 doll. I skipped my lunch, tried to walk instead of getting a bus, cut the expenses as much as possible and saved money bit by bit. Finally got 1 doll in 3 months.:blush

    18. I purchased my first doll with birthday money I had been given. I ordered her via an official company agent on ebay so had some peace of mind knowing I was paying for the doll through paypal.

    19. I put what I needed onto Paypal and bought directly from the company that way. It took me a few months to make a decision and figure out what I wanted since I'm still new to the hobby, so by the time I made my decision I knew I had saved up enough.

    20. Hoho Paypal did the job for me. :`) I had to save money beforehand though, since I am a very impatient person who refuses to do layaways. ><
