1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How did you purchase your first BJD?

Nov 10, 2013

    1. I'm currently saving up, and will order from Denver doll using my grandma or parents card/ paypal (then paying them in cash, course). Unless I can get my own paypal set up before then, which I'm hopeful that I will!

    2. I waited for my tax return to come in, and then purchased the full amount. :)

    3. I didn't have a credit card when I bought my first doll so I saved up for a while and put the money on my debit card ^_^

    4. I wrote it off as being to expensive at first. A few years later though I bought the Kos Mos limited edition dollfie I had my eye on. I paid for it with a CC but I always payoff the full balance when the CC bill is due. I always use CC online instead of debit cards. I never pay in installments. I still think it was a expensive purchase but now I'm in a much better position than I was when the doll first came out. No more oatmeal for breakfast and dinner unless I want oatmeal for breakfast and dinner. Man do I love oatmeal though which is very good when you are making minimum wage in Seattle.

    5. I wasn't planning on actually buying BJDs at that time at first... they were one general luxury thing I wanted, among two others, one of which was an expensive graphics tablet, the other were crafting machines. I figured "maybe one day if I save enough money". But then I got my hands on some unexpected spending money suddenly (from a family member, lol, didn't rob a bank!) and since I really was into BJDs at that time, my decision on which of these wishes to spend the money on was quickly made............. ordered a monthly Switch doll and a 2nd hand head soon after that.

    6. I've been a collector of other figures for a while now, and in the process of streamlining my collection (aka. getting rid of the pieces that looked out of place), I gained some extra funds. Eventually, they were enough to get meself my first BJD! owo

    7. I got my first BJD from Resinsoul, and I ordered through email. Since it didn't cost much, I was able to pay in full up front. PayPal is the way to go, it seems.

    8. Have a full-time job, paid in full through paypal. Pretty boring. :P

    9. Ah, story time. Back when I got my first doll, four years ago, I was 13... a total and utter newb XD I had been saving up for the whole year, until by my birthday's time I had enough to buy a resinsoul Mei...'s body. And I hadn't been doing enough research, so at the time I thought "body" just meant the doll with no accessories or clothes... XD I was super disappointed whenit arrived, but I managed to buy the head a month after and by the time school started the next year I finally had my full doll.

    10. I got my first bjd from an agent on eBay. I got my second doll on the official site.

    11. My first BJD was Resinsoul Song. Back then, I still don't have a PayPal account so I paid him via Western Union. I was really afraid that It won't be received by Resinsoul XD

    12. I was looking for a more realistic doll than a Barbie for some doll house projects I had planned. I stumbled on a BSD unboxing on YouTube. I wasn't even aware of BSDs! I did a little research and wanted a doll _now_ so I ordered a RS Mei that was in stock at Denver Doll. She arrived yesterday. Some dresses from eBay are scheduled to arrive today. Yay!

    13. I had a little bucket on my dresser that I've just been idly stuffing spare money into for years. I had no idea how much was in there, but after I decided I really wanted a BJD I was like okay, let's finally count this and see how close I am.
To my amazement, I ended up with over 800 dollars, double what I needed for the doll I wanted! So I went for it! Also I awesomely have a credit card now so I just paypaled it after putting all that random cash in the bank :)
I must have looked like a robber though, walking in there holding that many 1 dollar bills :XD:

    14. I bought my first doll in whole, through paypal. No layaway. Then again, she was only $150 so it's not like my IOS Chaos, which I HAD to make payments on.

    15. I bought 2 at the same time as my firsts, one from ebay and the other from a japanese auction site using a proxy shopping service (I had used them before for other things).

    16. I was on an FB group page for BJD and found my first doll there. Her price was too good to be true, honestly. So sent a message to the seller and asked for layaway options and paid her in 3 months until she was shipped in time for my birthday. :3

    17. I saved up for a really long time , sold some stuff , have a part time job and then I bought my first doll together with my friends to save on the shipping cost .

    18. I saved up for him using my school allowance which was given to me every day, and the remaining balance was a college graduation gift from my parents. I bought my boy directly from his company in Korea through PayPal, and waited patiently until he finally got here two and a half months later after purchasing.

    19. I was 11 at the time and I purchased the doll second hand (though I'm the third owner I believe..) through someone on a photo site. Can't believe it actually, looking back, hahaha. I paid a partial amount for her, and the rest was covered by my parents as my Christmas gift for that year. I remember opening the package to make sure she arrived safely, just to repack her, wrap her myself, and put her under the tree! She is an X2 doll, in the sculpt Elizabeth (MSD). I believe it's been seven years... again, can't believe it.

    20. I purchased my first doll directly in Luts website and paid with paypal. :XD:
