1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How did you purchase your first BJD?

Nov 10, 2013

    1. I put mine on a credit card with no interest for 6 months. It’s essentially a layaway to myself haha

    2. I purchased my first BJD in pieces from the second hand market (FB and Insta). I honestly wasn’t fully committed to having a doll myself until I happened upon the head for sale. Then I didn't want to have an expensive body to experiment with so second hand again!

Everything was paid in full using PayPal + credit card (for layers of protection haha).

    3. I saved up enough money for buying my first doll via PayPal at a BJD retailer.
Otherwise I really like the layaway options. :kitty2

    4. I saved up for my first bjd. I got her through paypal so that I could have some buyer protection lol, but I actually prefer layaway now though. Especially if the doll has production time of a couple months.

    5. I bought directly from ResinSoul. I made two payments. With paypal of course. I wasn't worried about buyer protection though, because of ResinSoul's stellar reputation.

    6. My first doll was a Christmas gift from my mom, who bought directly from the Luts website. I believe she paid in full through Paypal.

My own first time buying, I bought a Lati Yellow from Doll Peddlar, and I think I paid in full using Paypal then, too.

    7. Alice's! I did a short layaway for the fullset because I was trying not to freak out my bank...

    8. 2nd hand, face to face with previous owner by cash.

    9. Directly through the company! Of course, I was blindsided by shipping and production times... :sweat

    10. I got my first bjd directly from the artist with a 4 months layaway :) I didn't have PayPal at that time, so I could make the payment by bank transfer!

    11. Courtesy of a tax return. So I had a lump sum I was willing to use on my first doll and a wig. I prefer to pay in full when I can for big purchases.

    12. So I was a teenager and I was selling a bunch of my old stuff along with using my allowance. I was doing money payments using bjdivas. In the middle of my layaway I got a job. Basically I ordered this doll without a garentee that I would pay it off xD. In the end I did pay it off haha.

    13. I purchased my first doll on ebay. The seller was leaving the hobby and I got the doll for a very good price.

    14. Purchased my first one on eBay also. With PayPal credit. Took a bit to pay her off.

    15. I saved up money from a summer job, and paid with card through DDE.

    16. I purchased the head for my first doll from eBay, and later purchased the body from an authorized dealer.
The total was not that bad, and I had a lot of time between the two to save.

    17. I purchased my doll through a dealer, my doll was in-stock. Paid with Paypal. :3

    18. My (technically) first doll was paid in full using PayPal in 2019. (And still not come to me, she just don't want to come in 2020 so she skip it haha:lol:)

My second, however, was paid in full using Debit card at a secondhand doll shop. And I got him home immediately after the payment was completed.:3nodding:

    19. I bought my first doll as a head from a legit facebook bjd sales, but used my friends paypal at the time. I use the money I've gotten by starting my new job. Then I waited abit until I got a better payed job than my previous one. I bought the body when I actually got fired, i wasn't that sad by getting fired because, I could finally buy her body and it was pretty rough job for me, cause actually got sick. (My body couldn't handle the pressure of the work that left me a bad healthy problem). So Worth it so much though I finally got her body! I bought her body from a really nice person from DOA and payed via my PayPal this time. Of course I had my husbands help by paying all the bills. So thanks to my hubby.

    20. Saved up, paid in full for a pre-order, and then breathed into a paper bag when I hit the order button.
