1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How did you purchase your first BJD?

Nov 10, 2013

    1. I got mine with my tax return :)

    2. I purchased my first doll, from her previous owner.
A friend helped me to find a favourite doll. We have long tried to transfer her money. the Bank gave an error, and in the end I paid when meeting ))

    3. i ordered it through an agent and used lay away method. basically, every BJD i own has been paid that way since they are all LE's except for the first one which is a standard sculpt. it would be impossible for me to gather the money to pay the full amount for these sculpts in particular that are only available to order for such a small amount of time, so lay away works wonderful for me <3

    4. I bought my first doll on here from a seller who was kind enough to allow me a long layaway.

    5. I saved up for a bit then ordered through a US dealer (Denver Doll) to save on shipping.

    6. I saved up to buy my first doll.

    7. I bought Aaron by dollzone from mintoncard.
He was in stock, so there was no waiting for him. Just about five days.

    8. I saved up for my first doll but it was actually only after a LOT of pondering, gaining courage and figuring out if I wanted to spend such an amount on such a tiny doll.

The night after I bought her, I actually woke up in the middle of the night sweating, sitting up, gasping, realising I spent 350 euros on a doll. I was seriously considering to cancel my order xD...

I don't have these nightmares anymore since dolls proved to be worth their value by a thousandfold.

    9. I saved and paid up front via an authorized dealer on ebay. I got free eyes, wig and faceup. :)

    10. I paid for mine by credit card. It's close to credit card transfer time (move the money, pay considerably less interest) so I won't be adding much extra cost wise and he'll be paid up very soon. (Just bought my first doll)

    11. Saved up my allowance back in college. I saved for almost a year I think...and then waited for migidoll to open their sales :sweat

    12. Saved up and earned money by doing part time for 3 months, got my girl from second hand market then:)

    13. My first doll was Doll Love YOYO, I ordered her through an authorized dealer of Doll Love on Ebay.
My second was Qian from AOD also from a dealer from ebay
My only boy was from DF-A through Mint on card
and my AS Starry baby was directly from AS.
I personally prefer to order and buy direct from the company, I got my AS baby in under 2 months where as I had to wait 5 months for my boy.

    14. I bought mine off the marketplace here :) He is a Doll Leaves Noir, so a limited doll and I couldn't resist snatching him up! I paid for him and all of his stuff using money I was given for my graduation ;)

    15. I bought mine spur of the moment from Mint on Card at AKON/Doll-Kon in June. I paid on credit card, but my boy wasn't expensive compared to others. Lol, I had to buy him immediately while my husband was showing weakness. I figured if I waited, he might change his mind. :) I'd probably have paid with a credit card anyway. We tend to buy everything on cc and pay it off at the end of the month or avoid interest.

My next doll, which I hope to get soon, I have been saving up for using some of the methods recommended here to get money. I call it my blood money. :)

    16. I was working fulltime at the time, so I just kinda went and bought her. I hated that job but I miss having so much money... Otherwise yeah, I just wait until I have a lump sum from one thing or another rather than save up. Saving never works for me, I'm too impatient.

    17. I used a credit card that I had finally been able to pay off after years of struggling to do so. I bought my first doll that I had been wanting for years, paid the card off again and turned around and bought my second doll. I plan to keep this pattern going and this credit card had officially become "the doll-only card". The only problem is choosing which doll will be next because I want too many of them!! For me it is a slow process but it keeps me from getting in debt over my head.

    18. my first girl i got off ebay.. i had money in paypal cuz i sell stuff online all the time. so she was paid in full.
my second girl i saved up for 3 months cuz she cost a ton.. again selling stuff online.
the horse i have coming in i used money i made selling stuff and what i didnt have i used my credit card
my doll im buying next week i again saved from money i made and the rest is going on credit card

all have been paid in full. no layaways

    19. My first bjd was a 1/4 girl from Asleep Eidolon so she was relatively inexpensive and we were able to pay for her upfront. I'm waiting for an Iplehouse, though, and because they're more expensive we couldn't afford the whole payment in one go so we divvied it up into a four month layaway. Layaway is definitely nice (if you can handle the agony of waiting, lol) :)

    20. I just saved up for about two weeks since I was only buying a head. The head was also secondhand.
      I don't have a full BJD yet though. x3 Just have heads. Heh~ (:
