1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How do you display your heads in 2023?

Feb 12, 2023

    1. I'm going through a "I need more heads" phase but there's only a few bust options and they are *highly* expensive. I'm considering commissioning someone to make me a non commercial STL for a simple display bust.
Another idea I had was to make a magnetic shadow box and put the head caps somewhere safe. I'd like ideas from those of whom like to display their heads!

    2. I only have one floating head right now, but I will get a couple more later in the year. I have been thinking of displaying them in glass domed display cases like these ones from IKEA: SKÖNJA Glass dome with base, clear glass/black, 6 ¼" (16 cm) - IKEA CA

The idea is to get a wooden support from the local Michael's or dollar store and put the head on it. The headcaps can stay in the dome as well. Then it's a case of putting other display items based on the head/character's backstory and personality. And voila!

    3. I have headstands from Platform 9 3/4 for my dreaming heads(I have awake and dreaming to most my dolls), not crazy pricey, look nice enough but don't outshine the heads, and get the job done. I've had 2 MSD female busts for a while and I just got 2 male ones that are on the way right now, I really like them! Resin match is to Volks, matches Luts really well too I can say. I've considered painting them with acrylic if I ever need a more abnormal or tan color. I got my first ones through a shopping service but now NewClover has them listed so I got my second two from there.

    4. I usually steer clear of floating heads because they give me no end of angst until I can find a proper body for them. But I once obtained 2 identical heads as freebies from a large Luts order I had done. I hadn’t been paying proper attention to the details of their big event, so they came as a complete surprise to me. But of course, I didn’t want to waste them or sell them because :?Luts and resin and bjd!:o So I had my hubby make me simple stands out of a circle of wood as a base and a large circumference dowel, painted black. It was a simple, cheap solution that works perfectly and looks great. I attached each head to the top with a couple of washers and a screw, and voila…millinery models to display with my SD hat collection. They quickly became characters in their own right too, and Milly Milliner and Maddy Hatter have remained a integral part of my collection ever since.:)

    5. I currently have 2 floating heads - one of which is going to get a body to share with another head from Luts. My other one...is rather yellowed so I have to figure out what to do with him because resin matching for a body will be a pain.

But neither head is out on display - mostly because I do like to get them bodies haha.

    6. I am really loving the head bust stands you can get from Nakana Dolls or LUTS, and I intend to get my hands on many more to "downsize" my collection without having to lose some of the rarer heads I have, or allow me to collect new sculpts as just portraits instead of full dolls.
