How do you feel about body blushing?

Jan 24, 2016

    1. I really love the aesthetic of body blushing! I haven't done it yet, but it's on my to do list for sure, I think it gives dolls a much more finished and realistic look.

    2. I love to see natural blushing on dolls that others have done, however I can't seem to make the blush look as I would like it to so my doll is currently sitting around with a beautiful faceup and no body blushing. I really don't mind though because he keeps his clothes on all the time. I would love to learn to blush esp because my tastes lean more towards the fantasy dolls and I love a well blushed fantasy doll.

    3. I usually don't body blush the dolls due to the additional cost and also I'm afraid it'll wear off quickly since I sometimes change their clothes a lot. However, lately I've begun to explore body blushing on my dolls. My Loongsoul boy came with body blushing, and so far he's the only one with company's blushing. He was a little....pink and personally I tend to prefer more subtle, natural body blushing. But seeing my Loongsoul boy with body blushing kinda encouraged me to try my hands on body blushing two of my latest dolls too and I'm pretty pleased at how much realism it adds to the doll, even if my skill is still amateur at best. I think eventually I might body blush the rest of the dolls myself, with maybe a couple more from the company itself in future if I like their body blushing enough. :)

    4. I love body blushing. Some of it is more fragile than others, some of it is quite fragile too, but nothing is ever permanent, and I am happy to enjoy the beauty it brings while it lasts.

    5. The first doll I`m getting I plan on getting body blushing on it, It`ll be my first bjd which i`m so excited for so I`m willing to spend the extra money to make it "perfectly" the way I want it.

    6. I tried it and I loved the look of it, but my doll kept getting scratched so i decided not to do it anymore. I move them around a lot when I sew and crochet clothes for them so it tends to chip away fairly fast. People in my house pick up the dolls and move them around too, so for now, I will admire blushed dollies them afar.

    7. I like body blushing! I think it makes the doll look more realistic and elegant.

    8. For me it's a love-hate thing with body blushing. One one hand, it looks really good (makes the body match with the face up) and it's fun to work on my dolls (I don't really have characters or stories for them so physically working on them - be it face ups, sueding, blushing, making them stuff is really the whole extent of my interactions with them). On the other hand, it can get damaged easily. I used to be super paranoid about the blushing chipping when I move their joints or when their clothes rub against them so would be super stringent about not posing my dolls too much, but I've since come to accept that blushing will rub away inevitably. I think I'd rather have a doll body blushed with some of it rubbed away rather than not body blushed at all in the end.

    9. I think body blushing can bring to life a doll, a lot more actually. But then, one has to be extra careful when handling them, so it really depends on what you are planning to do with that specific doll.

    10. I think Body blushing brings the doll more to life beyond the face, but I do agree that constant handling of the dolls resulting the blush to chip could be quite a turn off... but still, having body blush still beats not having one, so I Guess learning how to do body blushing on my own to touch up on my dolls would be a good idea

    11. I'm definitely going to blush my dolls when they arrive. I think it just completes them. I plan on adding freckles and moles in places too.It may chip off but hey I am just going to consider it part of the upkeep process. I thought too about doing some veins on the faces and arms of my more "evil" character dolls.

    12. I have a doll I recently got with body blushing, but I handle her a lot and much of it on her hip bones rubbed off in the first week. I don't mind it on the other areas though, they don't get rubbed as much, and it looks nice. But I do handle my dolls, so if it rubbs off, I feel it's just not meant to be.

    13. I love the look of body blush- and dolls that use alternative palettes then normal (like blue or white) to blush look amazing when done right! That being said I've noticed a lot of dolls tend to lose the blush quickly due to tlc handling so if you're the type of person that wants to interact more with their dolls it might be better to minimize or avoid it all together... Half wiped body blush looks a lot worse then none!

    14. the upkeep is definitely annoying, but for me it is essential to finishing my dolls. i hate seeing pictures of dolls with gorgeous faceups and blank bodies...especially in photos where they are touching their face. the contrast between a face full of depth and color and a hand with no color to it at all is very off-putting.

    15. Speaking as someone who has never had/done body blushing; it is absolutely beautiful and really brings a doll to life, but the upkeep sounds like a pain :sigh: I like my dolls low maintenance so no blushing for them (but the more I think about it the more I want to try it! lol)

    16. I love the realism added with body blushing. It takes me a long time to find clothes, so my dolls sit around naked a lot and look better with the blushing. Out of my 10 current dolls 8 of them have body blushing. But it is expensive, so for my next body purchases I am thinking about taking off just the hands and sending them out for painting.

    17. I love seeing photos of dolls with body blushing, and I love the idea of it, but at the end of the day, I play with my dolls a lot, so body blushing is just not for me. It just ends up chipping off and looking bad.
I do have a new doll I ordered that will have full body blushing, but she will be mostly a display doll (DollStories Elvira)
She will mostly sit on a shelf (hopefully posed dramatically on a fainting couch if i can find her one) and occasionally have photos taken of her. I dont think she will be handled enough to damage the blushing.

    18. I'm in love with body blushing. I think it adds dimension to the doll that they don't get otherwise, especially if they are modeling lighter clothes. I get why some people aren't a fan though. It wears weird and you have to be careful around joints!

    19. I also love looking at pictures of dolls with body blushing, but personally the furthest I've gone is just having the hands lightly blushed and a very simple nail colour.

When I have the chance I might try blushing just the torso of one of my dolls to see how I like it and how it'll hold up. I don't think I'd do more than that tho, my dolls are usually fully dressed-- but I figure the torso is most likely to be shown, even if it's just the neck area.

    20. I'm a fan! I get full body-up on mine! Otherwise I really like it at least on the hands and maybe feet (depending on the outfit). I think hands are super important but I guess it's not super required for full body blushing because it will be covered.
