It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. How do you feel when you buy a new doll?

Jan 13, 2013

    1. I have to build up the money for each doll..so I'm given a long time to think about them. I'm usually not in them moment wanting to buy a doll, The doll just seems to keep coming back to me...meaning I'll look online at all the different doll companies, not looking to buy just looking to see what is out there. I find myself going back to the same doll over and over again until it hits me, that that doll is the one I want and I can't get him or her off my mind. I'll do this for months and If i'm ready to have him, I'll start to save the money little by little until I have what I need. In that time of saving I come up with a name, a character base, what color hair and style, what eye color, I make the clothes so I kind of have to wait for them to come to get clothes on them, however I draw out the outfit I think would fit their per-personality. I like to buy my dolls with a face-up already on the doll...lol I've not really had the option of picking a face-up artist...I would have to get the doll then send the head off...after all the waiting, I would rather not have to risk it again.
But when I finally go in for the buy..I'll sit there for what seems like 10 minutes just looking at the "buy now" button wondering if I have enough courage to do it...is the money I'm putting forward needed else where or do I owe it to myself to have something (questions I ask myself)...after I hit that button I feel very strange, not sure I can explain it, I just feel drained and again I have to sit there for a while and tell myself what I have just done. After the shock has worn off I begin to stalk the tracking number lol (the wait).
so I would say I feel exhausted after buying a new doll, but pretty happy about getting a new one.

    2. The biggest feeling is happiness, but at the same time I also feel nervous and kind of worry about it, because there are lots of things might happen during making and shipping. It is close to the feeling when you just buy a lottery.

    3. For me it is very seldom that I love a doll so much, that I must have it. (Mostly I look at them on other peoples pics.) But when that happens, I go on the hunt. I do not buy from the companies, I'm a offer hunter on the second hand market. That is part of my life philosophy so it got into my doll hobby too.
The character comes with the doll, not the other way round, again my interpretation, so my characters are never finished. The dolls tell me their stories every day, so the excitement of the hunt never ceses. Mostly they demand props and clothes, but sometimes becuase of wear or for experiments, a new wig is needed or a pair of eyes.

So, yes excitement. The adrenaline shot of finding, of compleating a good deal. The knowledge that I got myselve the best I could on all the criteria a doll purchase entitels for me. Sometimes there will be a bit of guilt too, money on inanimated shelf thing issue, but more often than not the overall creative energie prevents that from taking root. The planing and creating of the first outfits for the growing character takes up every second I spend on the hobby afterwards, and when the first of everything is there, the doll, the wig the eyes the outfit, all together, I can sit back and enjoy. It's not the end, only the beginning of the adventure for me, but as in all life, the first is allways the biggest step.

I've tried to transmite what I feel, but I think it's more a ramble than anything else.

    4. How very nice, being able to buy your doll in person. I just finally put a doll on layaway, Christina from Doll Chateau. I am excited, I am thinking of her name, wondering what her style of outfit will be. How to design her look, as I am getting blank, and tattoo free..it's exciting, and more, I feel like my baby chick is coming home :-)

    5. Awwww. It is sooo exciting!*O* I love this feeling. You feel that something new is coming soon in your life.

    6. It's a weird mix of excitement about all the plans I have for it, and gut wrenching regret over spending so much money.
the latter feeling tends to go away once the doll arrives though.

    7. I don't have a lot of experience with this yet... But so far I have to say I kinda feel horrible. XD I'm hoping that after the arrival of my first doll I won't have this absolutely INSANE anticipation that's causing lack of sleep and general inability to think about anything else. *laughs*
Alright, so I'm totally blowing it out of proportion saying I feel horrible. It's an amazing feeling of extreme excitement! But I do hope that it tones down just a liiiiittle bit in the future because this has been a wild ride thus far!

    8. Saving up phase is a hard time for me as I tends to look into the same doll over and over again.
When I saw a doll I want, I tends to make up a storyline that can go with my current dolls and it is very fun.
When I'm buying doll, I feel a bit bad to pay a lot of money but relief after that when I got to see the doll.

After the box arrived I'm very excited for a few days and play with my doll a lot and it fade away over time.
I never send my doll to faceup artist just yet, all have default faceup. I'm waiting for the artist to open her commission right now.
I want my most recent doll to have a new faceup and felt like he is kinda unfinished right now, but still love him so bad :D

    9. currently waiting for a doll, having layaway on a doll and waiting to buy a doll(when I have the money)...I'm getting excited, impatient and guilty feelings.

    10. I go from "I need this" with so much anticipation of getting a new doll! To "why did I buy this" A bit of buyers remorse til the new doll comes in. I get so nervous waiting, I am not a patient person. Then to mail man stalking wanting for it to come in. I have noticed the mail trunks here sound different than the rest of the cars that drive down the street. That or I'm just crazy.:sweat I don't have many yet but I'm waiting for one to be shipped now.

    11. Excitement. - 8D EEEEEEEE! New doll is on the way! (I can already hear my mom yelling: "ANOTHER ONE!?")

Nervousness - That was a LOT of money/Hard work (If it was from a trade, work definitely) ... Oh I hope it gets here safe and sound.

And then excitement - I'm gonna sew them a BUNCH of cute outfits for when they get home! 8D (Yeah my last girl Noah, had a few outfits to herself and a set of shoe set aside JUST for her, when I got her home...Of course now most outfits belong to her period.)

      And lastly...Content:

"New doll is home, I can sleep peacefully, now to cuddle this doll."

    12. For me, it depends on the doll. If it's a new release, or a relatively easy to come by doll, I tend to be VERY excited! Chances are I've spent a bunch of time researching, or fell in love with the new release pictures instantly, for me to buy, so I can't wait for them to get home!

If it's a hard to come by doll that's cost a lot, I get really nervous- I tend to worry about how much I've spent, if I'm going to like it after all this searching, what if she's broken, etc?

However, when I get the box, doesn't matter which doll, I get really excited and can't wait to tear in and see if the new arrival will fit in as well as I hoped they would ^_^!!!

    13. Excited and happy! :D Although I feel a bit shock about how much I pay for it. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to my last doll to be shipped out in the end of this year. But I can be early next year, if the company can't finish him on time.

    14. Always a bit scared? It tends to be a lot of money, and even though I always know I can miss it there's always that feeling of guilt when I press 'buy'. I try to do the planning thing too, figuring out the looks I want. But every time the doll arrives, they want me to do something different! So I've just decided to stop trying to plan, haha. The doll will tell me when they arrive. I think the real excitement starts for me when I get a shipping notice! THEN I'm suddenly nervous!

    15. After all these years, I'm still excited when a doll arrives but I must admit that I've calmed down greatly in the shipping phase. I generally buy secondhand dolls or direct from a US store so the wait isn't very long. I used to check the tracking number several times a day, now I just quietly wait.

The real excitement for me though is searching for doll that will fit into my collection, has a beautiful face-up & is very, very inexpensive. I collect more on a limited budget these days where price is often the deciding factor.

Since I'm not trying to embody a specific character & have a fairly good collection of clothes, shoes, eyes & wigs the big fun when the doll arrives is trying on various things until I find a great look for that doll. Sometimes this still involves buying yet another wig, eyes, etc. as my girl or boy just can't find something out of what I already have. I sew & sometimes will make an outfit but I haven't indulged in that for quite a while (no time.) I guess that styling a doll is the most fulfilling part of a new doll for me. That & getting an unbelievable bargain. Ha,ha!

    16. Me? Everytime I purchased a doll it seems like a miracle for me:daisy considering I'm a college student and not working (cause parents didn't allow me) so of course I'm excited everytime I had new doll :XD:

    17. There's always a bit of panic as I'm about to hit the order button -- I've had to close my eyes and just click it lol. But then I get a mixture of excitement and anxiety over whether I should have spent the money or not.

    18. Well I kinda of feel excite and happy but also worried or like you said overwhelmed. Sometimes I have buyers remorse from it but when I actually have the doll in my hand i feel so happy that I just forget about those overwhelming feelings

    19. I feel so excited when I get a new dolly in, but then can't wait to get my next one. I'm addicted.

    20. I actually couldn't believe I would ever buy a real bjd (I have other dolls...) because that was quite a bit of money (I bought 2 at the same time). Even though I feel overwhelmed that I still need to get so many things before the dolls' arrival, I feel really excited to meet them. I also feel a little restless because the wait time is soooooooo long! I hope something can distract me right now from waiting for the parcel to be shipped
