1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How do you figure out who sculpts for your favorite company?

Oct 8, 2023

    1. It's often not clear when looking at a company's website, especially if it's in a different language, who the artists are that created a particular sculpt because they aren't always credited. For those you detectives out there, what clues do you use to figure this out? It seems like there are a few companies where the community just seems to "know" who the sculptors are, but...how? I'd love to follow some of these people on IG!

    2. Some companies are so nice to credit the artist in the sales listings, like Luts here on the right: lutsdoll co.,ltd.
Or Soom (scroll towards the bottom, Cast & Crew): Legendary of Niflheim - Adonis - IDEALIAN

Some artists opened up their own companies, and were very open about where they learned their craft. The ones who established Raccoondoll and Sartoria are ex-Iplehouse sculptors for example!
They both have sculpting quirks that make it obvious too, when you know what to look for. That is one clue, sculptors also have a personal style and certain quirks they cannot 100% drop, even when they are tasked to sculpt for a specific company in their general aesthetic. When you know the faces of a company well, and then see the same type of style/quirks by an artist that could realistically be the sculptor...you just put 1 and 1 together, after some additional sleuthing.
On Instagram you have artists that also proudly show/talk about the dolls they sculpted for companies, like some of the Soom sculptors.

Generally I think though this information is easier to find in Asian hobby circles than here. There the sculptors, and companies themselves, post a lot more and share information with the community. We only get a very filtered version of that. Unless the company decides to publically post in English, or fans are willing to enter those (sometimes closed off for outsiders) circles and bring over this info into our sphere, we are a bit outta luck.
